At the very end of the post match press conference, suddenly a british journo asked a question and Amorim just burst out laughing as soon as he heard english being spoken... at a damn portuguese league cup game presser.

This presser was brutal. As usual, Ruben Amorim spoke too much and too long about the potential deal.
He did not confirm, but the way he spoke makes it seem like there's some details that need sorting (assistant coaches, maybe?).

I seem to remember ETH saying similar things at press conferences when he was being asked about MUFC while still at Ajax.

Sounds like normal quotes to me. He can't say much else at the moment

My biggest hope is that Amorim (if he signs) has the intelligence to analyse the players he has immediately at his disposal and deploy them to the best of their ability as a team, and that he does not rigidly stick to a system that does not suit the players he has, I hope that he has the tactically ability to work towards where he wants to be whilst maintaining a level of performance which is at least keeping us in contention towards the top of the league.

I do not want to pile on ETH now he has gone, but my biggest disappointment with him was his lack of footballing intelligence, and the stubbornness he displayed, I get he has a system that he wanted to implement but he was awful actually getting us from A to B.

Do not get me wrong Amorim needs to ring the changes, the formation, the style, the approach, and I am all for giving him the time to do it, we need to see improvement but moreover we need to see a plan that is not kamikaze, I have every confidence that this will be the case.

Being uber respectful to his current employers…. Hopefully that’s just it
That's not how Sporting fans are reading it, judging by their forum. Think the ambiguity reveals lack of character. There is really no good way to leave, well with your fans, in the middle of a successfull season.

That’s a bit harsh. He isn’t being ambiguous per se. He just cant say anything until it’s confirmed. He did confirm we have made an offer and it is up to him.

Nothing less than expected from his press conference, he clearly likes to keep things under wraps, like secretly flying out to speak to West Ham and if that was worthy of his time it’s hard to see how he’d not want to join us…considering, also, that we were on his list for a cheaper buy out clause.

Looks like he’s just being respectful until it’s official but that smile and laugh to the English reporter was quite telling. Can’t wait to see him in the dugout!!

As opposition fans how you feel about him? What do you think his tactics lack or may be an issue in the PL where every game is a battle?
