In the latest episode of the United Hour Podcast, Nik (@Rood) and Imran (@Annihilate Now!) are here to discuss three 1-1 draws.
The first got us knocked out of the FA Cup, the next puts us in a good position in our Round of 16 Europa League game, and the latest was an actual decent performance against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
All hopes for the season now rest on the Europa League - does Amorim have the squad to win it?

We are putting in place a game model. The more games the players have to get used to the new system the better.
the media certainly didn't waste any time, Ducker already has a "van Nistelrooy is a distraction that Amorim doesn't need" piece out. Miserable lot.

But a system isn’t something that can be explained over the phone for Ruud to go to training and emulate it. He barely has time to get ideas across in his week and he is supposed to implement Ruben’s ideas now? That’s very harsh on Ruud.

He will definitely need time since I don't really rate your squad. Needs an overhaul with Amorim influence.
He isn't perfect. For all the praise for what he achieved with us, there's also some low points. For example, before we won the league last season, the previous year we came 4th, which in Portugal is a fireable offense. But he had the trust of the board, overcame the bad phase and the rest is history.
He needs time and patience. I don't know if he has that with the bipolarism of United fans. Also United board doesn't seem as professional, with long term vision and strict objectives as Sporting board. The way they handled the Ten Hag affair last year show that. It's more of immediatism and going with the flow.
Time will tell.
I really hope Ruben works out and gets this team playing like a Utd team should. It will need absolute trust by the players (not sure previous managers have had this) because as we know, the media are certain pundits are going to have their knives out already.
I'm not wedded to the idea that Utd must play 4 at the back, I'm willing to try something different and if our new head coach can get it to work and believes in it, we should give him the license to try.

Very tough job then
Wow, Amorim is busy. Looks like he’s now modelling Australia’s next Olympics outfit.
Which players? They are on international duty.
His current title at Sporting is Head Coach so there is no demotion to talk about, he is joining a new structure which has streamlined his role to suit the role he has occupied all his life. And we must do what is right for us as a club and avoid being left holding a sack of expensive shit everytime you sack a manager and the new one demanding another round of expensive flops. It was a vicious cycle and I, for one, am happy we have taken significant steps towards breaking it.
Looking at how these coaches are turning out I doubt there really is anyone with the skillset, vision, energy and grit to fulfil the old school managerial role either. The money involved in fees and wages makes it very risky to completely leave recruitment to the judgement of one man.
I think Carrington has more than one cycle and I sincerely hope he’s not that fecking clumsy.

I was joking but it's one of the things I have more curiosity about. I genuinely think he can turn slabhead into a decent player. I mean he did with Coates. Unlike most Sporting fans who idolize Coates for what he gave us, I have good memory. I remember Sporting fans booing and wanting Coates, not even sold but released for free. Then Amorim came and Coates is now considered, arguably, one of the best CB in Sporting history.
Of course you can take my words with a pinch of salt since I rated Rojo.
Hopefully he's the one to take a grip of the club!

It feels good to be excited again. I like that he’s an actual young and charismatic upcoming coach. I’m also actually looking forward to seeing us play a 3-4-3. Something interesting and different.

Great stuff! Can't but be excited by this guy. Hope he brings a couple of the Sporting players with him in the new year. Wonder if he'll make use of Onana or want to get rid. Rashford should be on his way out..
I said it before (everytime we appointed a new manager post Fergie) and I'll say it again: He's the one to bring us back to glory. You can trust me on that.

Maguire may get a lifeline since he plays 3 at the back. Don’t expect him to be first choice but we always have injuries at the back so will get his fair share of games. Back 3 also suits him.
Theirs a charismatic, confident presence about him that was just non existent with Ten Hag. Fully expect players to run through brick walls for him very soon.
Praying that he is the one that makes us a top club again, just someone to take us out of this slump of mediocrity.

Ten Hag looks like a boiled egg where a bit of the top has come off with the shell.
In our case they will put on a white lab coat, move to a castle in a mist shrouded forest/small Transylvanian town, put all our players onto morgue slabs, summon electric lightning through their bodies and HOPE to bring life, belief, confidence and ability to them. Possibly being sarcastic, as there are some, no matter what amount of electric energy you fired through them, would remain prone on the slab.
