Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

We've three attacking player on the pitch...three.

Rest are defenders or CM.
I expected a modern coach with a loth of ideas to make us more exciting to watch.

What a dissapointment he has been so far.
Outside of possibly City, other teams really “only” play with 4 attacking players - and our wingbacks are supposed to be very attacking. Not defending his selection here because I actually agree with you that his selections have been way too conservative - especially when it was Dalot and Maz as our wingbacks, but I think a lot of it has been driven through a lack of options, really. We don’t seem to have enough quality options at AM, CF or WB positions. Even moreso with Amad missing. I like Bruno in a deeper midfield role when in possession but I think it leaves us too open to the counter attacks without the ball. The only bench option we have of decent quality in attack is probably Garnacho, and even he’s not exactly been setting the stage alight.

Your home routine is still disturbed, away facilities remained unfamiliar territory and it was even worse during Covid with all the added travelling protocols. Now while it wasn't the same context, I don't know if it made it better or worse but it was still away games.
While that's true, studies have shown that home advantage / away disadvantage mostly stems from the crowd influencing referee decisions.

As a match going supporter and speaking to other regulars there’s no one blaming this shitshow on Amorim

No one is saying he is to blame for everything that's going wrong at the club but he is to blame for the poor performances on the pitch when he is continously playing the team in a formation that doesn't work and is continously starting tbe awful Dalot while playing other players out of position.

We are in Dan Ashworth territory now. Time to sack this clown before he takes us into the Championship. He is not a Premier League manager.

I'm turning against him now, he needs to change things up it's clear he doesn't have the players to suit what he wants, he's surely seen enough now to judge what he needs in pre season then start a fresh

He needs to leave for his own reputation and ours. He is not as bad he's being made out but he is completely the wrong manager for us. Such a bad appointment considering we're broke.

The players are better than this and amorim cannot be absolved of the shit show we are witnessing

When’s Collyer back? Maybe if we get him in midfield beside the other two DMs we might keep a clean sheet

We always comcede. Maybe he should play 7 defenders. Clearly 5 isn't working :annoyed:

He has to go after this. Another defeat and it's no surprise after his crappy negativity in terms of tactics and talk.

People are quick to blame Amorim, but so many of our goals are just from braindead actions of the players. The goals we concede are so often down to individual error. It was happening under ETH and is happening now. There is no way to coach those mistakes out. Even if Amorim chose to park the bus every game those mistakes would still cost the team. It has just happened now against Everton. That goal was not because of coaching. I don't know why the players are so lazy, lethargic, and lack football IQ. It is a personnel issue and while Amorim has a lot of questions to answer next season about his own performance, until we change the core of the team, this will persist. We are just not good enough. He needs a new spine in my opinion before we can really put the spotlight on the manager.

Edit to add we have a team of players who most of them cannot pass a football. This is another problem that has been happening for years. I remember then Ten Hag came in and there was footage of the team doing passing drills in training and it was embarrassing. It is still the same and it is clear they cannot do it. If say 3 can pass and 7 cannot, the whole structure of any formation breaks down. No manager or system will work until we change the core of the squad. The net few years are going to be very rough unless another 300 million is thrown at it in the summer.

I know he's new, no pre-season and not his team. But has a manager ever turned this kind of form around? Even more so at United? Good manager, terrible fit I'm afraid

I mean I believe in Amorim's quality and I also firmly believe on principle he should get time to start a season of his own but it all won't matter if we continue to be so shit.

I think this sums it up well.

But who is the right appointment?
He came with a fantastic record at Sporting.

I don't agree though that these performances will make his position untenable.

Come on Ruben.

That’s the thing for me. What’s going to miraculously change in the summer when he’s on a limited budget? This isn’t career mode or FM, no radical changes will happen.

He’s not got a tune out of a single player bar Amad (which is kind of by default because ten Hag never played him) — how is it suddenly going to be different next season?

It is kind of a blessing that he's showing himself to be completely out of his depth sooner than Ten Hag did. We hopefully won't spunk what limited resources we have left on players for this shit system.

How can a team with Gueye and Doucoure look so good?

No doubt the some on here will be claiming Everton have better players than us. This clown of a manager has turn us into the worse team in the league. Even Southampton were better than us and we only won because of Amad.

It’s the fecking players. They’re nowhere near good enough. Nobody can get them to perform.

Let’s sack another manager for large amounts of money then shall we? Because that’s what we need right now. Tell me, who do we bring in next?

The guy before his came with a a fantastic record from Ajax. Maybe we shouldn't be taking such drastic gambles on managers from much lower level leagues. Not unless we have a squad to support that gamble like Liverpool did with Slott.

Just hearing his interview with Rio on TNT. It ended with..

"I try, but sometimes your best is not enough."

It sounds like he doesn't have full belief in himself or the club to turn this around. I like the guy, but this was this first time I've felt worried by what he is saying.
He probably can't believe the dross that Ten Hag put together and realises he doesn't have much chance.

Are you telling me if Jose walked in tomorrow we'd still carry on with this form? We have shit players and a manager who is no where near good enough making it worse.

I'm so conflicted here. I wanted a manager with a vision and someone young and fresh. All the things he's saying are great, but the actions are lacking.

It worries me that if we back him it sets us back another 3 years. His system is so unique that odds are the next manager won't play it. Then we throw it all away and start fresh?

He needs to show something. I feel we have seen nothing from him to show us he's a good fit

He still gets until the end of next season no matter what for me

We have to give managers a proper chance or will be in this cycle for another decade.

He needs a pre season, hopefully 4/5 signings and things might improve next season
