Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I used to rhink this was down purely to the players but yeah this is definitely also a manager issue and its annoying me to no end. Just keep things simple. Play defenders on their strong side. You signed a player who mostly plays at left back and then you stick him at right wing back. Why? What the feck are you trying to prove? That is why the wing backs are passing it back all the time. They are not comfortable playing on their weak foot.
 
Mmm got to honest, in 38 years of supporting United this is the worst I’ve ever known it by some considerable distance. We have terrible players ALL over the pitch.

We can’t score any goals, we don’t have any money, the Glazers AND Ineos are clueless, awful people and I have no idea whether Amorim is any good or not. It doesn’t seem like these (admittedly pathetic, talentless) players have bought into what he is trying to do at all
 
The most worrying thing is we don't have periods of time where we move the ball in any sort of confident manner in and around the opposition box.
 
Putting the questions of the formation and lack of player quality aside, he seems to be really struggling to get any sort of passion, energy or motivation from the squad which is really worrying. Add that to his reluctance to change the style of play when it's clear we are struggling to create anything at home against 'worse' sides then the future doesn't look too bright. He's not getting any more players in for at least another 6 months and even then he isn't getting an army of quality players in. That's if he gets chance at this rate.
 
Right, we get it. You can literally only put a team out paying one way. You are going to play that way going forward. But you simply have the most hopeless and ill-prepared squad for this way of playing. Could you maybe just be a little fecking pragmatic and not destroy any chance of success this season and feck it off. Your players' confidence is at rock bottom and your stock is heading the same way.

I agree, it takes balls to say “you know what, I was wrong” and he’s acting cowardly for doubling down on something which isn’t working because that’s all he’s used to.
 
Fully understand there can be good reason to have inverted wingbacks.

But when that involves Dalot playing on the wrong side, I struggle to imagine how it could possibly be worth it.
 
The worst thing is, if he'd gone to Liverpool or City you just know they'd be absolutely flying and we'd be ruing whichever managerial choice we made instead.

The club is fecking cursed.
 
Been saying it for years. I can only see Diego Simeone turning us around but he never wants to learn English ffs.

I know we don't have a good squad but holy shit its not THAT bad. Rasmus scored 16 goals all by his damn self last season because no one could find him. Garna and Mainoo are somewhat solid players and Amad is a tricky player. We should be doing WAAAY better then we are. Tired of Luck being the only way we score, something is terribly wrong here. This 3 at the back shite isn't working. We need 3 mids and 4 and the back, otherwise it won't work. Rubin needs to get with it quickly. The PL won't let you play your way, adapt for the love of God. The tactics ain't it for this season. I'm praying he does succeed here because I like him and find him to be the right guy. But it's getting hard to stick with it.
 
Getting rightfully hammered at the Dutch TV. Putting everyone in weird/wrong places and setting the team up far too defensive.

Dalot is garbage at LWB. Everyone in the stadium knows it.

This system is supposed to be 3-4-3 at Old Trafford against dog end teams like Leicester. Why are we not playing Amad and Dorgu RM and LM and doubling them up with Garnacho and Bruno, that's how this system is supposed to work. Not a flat back 5 with wrong-footed wing backs. The feck is he playing at?
 
This is poor. Selection and set up adding to our mounting issues.

Mainoo isn’t a 10. Can this experiment end already? He’s not mobile enough and he’s never had a killer pass on him. You know who does? Bruno…the one playing DM.

Who the feck would succeed here, let’s be real. I’d bet my body on Ancelotti failing, Iraola failing, and whoever else the feck failing. This is 100 times worse than what Liverpool went through between 1990 and 2015.
 
He’s actually made us worse than under ETH. Not sure what he’s trying to achieve in the pitch but it ain’t working. Another manager who will be sacked soon. Relegation fodder just out playing us at home. This system is shite and he’s going to get the boot for sticking with it.
 
I'd back him if we actually saw some semblance of improvement each week.

But its the exact opposite.

In fact, he seems to have lost the plot because now he is playing everyone out of position.

Playing a RB in Dalot on the left. Playing a new 30m left back on the right in his debut.

Playing Bruno deeper in midfield, even though we need goals.

Playing Maz, a top tier right back, in central defence on the left.

Everything about this formation and selection is wrong.
 
It's so strange that most teams are still capable of putting in a good performance here and there, but we're still grinding the same way we did under ETH and are probably worse.

I'm sorry but this team should be capable of doing more.
 
Hardly nothing he does makes sense. Baffling, defensive lineups and too stubborn to compromise even a little bit despite our disastrous trajectory.

Starting to think we should pull the plug and cut our losses. He’s been here for months and shown literally nothing to earn him some slack and trust.
 
Changing the formation might make him look weak but in the long run means nothing.

Not changing it makes him look stubborn and before long he will be looking for work elsewhere.

And Napoli this season, he's top of the league after changing a formation he has been playing with for years.

Even within this formation, Amorim does inexplicable stuff that doesn't work and repeats it every game.

I've always wanted him and I think he would turn this mess around, he's got a massive personality. I got shot down by posters on here, saying the football would be dull. I mean, it cant be as dull as Amorims football right now.

He’s already stated its the only system he knows. Alarm bells should have been ringing the moment he said that. How many top managers can only coach one formation?

We’re worse now then we ever were under ETH. It’s just appalling.
 
Slowly losing hope.

I thought we improved the first month, but we've regressed since then without any signs of progress.
 
Controversial opinion but I am of the belief he regrets taking the job and will make questionable decisions, set the team up to fail because he wants to get sacked and head back to Portugal.

He has said he will never change it and has been very adamant about that. He will absolutely look weak if he does
