Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I've defended him, but then he goes play Dalot LWB and Dorgu RWB?

yo amorim, I'm trying to defend you, don't over think and tinker, you're making yourself look stupid

It feels more and more like Amorim's system exacerbates the flaws of his players rather than improving them. Not sure who has improved since he came in other than Amad, and he was barely playing at all before.

Just like ETH, Amorim has the problem where he can't break down a team, leading to extended spells of awful football. Even the gritty wins and late second half goals isn't going to cut it for most United fans.

Genuine question, has he ever used a different system at his old clubs?

This one doesn’t work with this lot (right now), adapt or die, he won’t have a job if he persists with this.

This is what concerns me. Good managers do not rely on one formation.

Conte played 5 at the back with Chelsea, but the only reason he did that was because they lost their opening few games using 4-3-3 and it wasn’t working. This is clearly not working especially in our home games.

He's absolutely awful. Handsome guy, speaks well, taken over a shitshow. But what he's doing with the full backs is indefensible. Like relegation teams wouldn't put up with this stuff.

In 12 months or less, everyone will wonder how anyone could think this guy would be a success with his awful tactics and system.

Let’s be brutally honest here - if he wasn’t good with the media and such a handsome fecker he’d be getting fecking pelters.

I agree, this has been woeful. And I’m gutted we blew so much smoke up Amad’s arse because he’s been fecking shite since he scored that hat trick.

I just done get it. Can’t see what it is we’re trying to do. This system makes no sense to me. Can’t defend, can’t score, can’t keep the ball, can’t press. Thus far it’s a system of doing nothing.

Say what you will about the squad, but how on Earth can be so ineffective, at home, against this Leicester City side, in a cup tie?

No urgency, players ambling about, taking the safe option. Bloody awful.

He could have no complaints if he got sacked tonight. That’s how bad he’s been. Just a complete and unmitigated disaster so far.

I feel sorry for the poor sods that have paid hard earned cash to watch this tripe. I usually go to three or four games a season but have no motivation to support this shower!

just continues to make silly decisions that just dont have much reasoning behind them. Persists with maz at wingback even though he sucks there, now we get a lwb and he plays him at rwb? Maz and yoro on their unfavored cb sides? Continually to be defensive against low level opponents?

All our training just needs to be pass and move, sod anything tactical for the time being, these players have forgot the basics of the game and without them you can't hope to do anything more complex.

Playing with wing-backs doesn’t even mean you have to play ultra defensive, we look much more threatening on the right at least when Amad is one of them.

If Amorim really is tied to this formation then get the feck rid. It is horse shit.

I would keep him otherwise as I think he has some attributes that are hard to find in managers but we cannot persist with this fecking nonsense.

We can’t keep losing football games

If this ends is in defeat, the pressure will be immense. If he changes his formation after being so stubborn he will look weak

It’s a rotten situation. We just need to see the season out and hope things don’t get even worse.

But I’m not sure he will survive
Why would he look weak by changing formation? Managers do it every week. Like I said above, Conte changed it up when it wasn’t working at Chelsea. That is what good managers do.

If we don't turn this around in the second half, I reckon he'll start to lose the fanbase. It's appalling football.

You can't play five defenders at home against weak teams. One of the wing backs has to be a genuine winger. At a minimum.

I can't understand how you can watch Dalot on the left for months (like the fans have), and then arrive at the conclusion to start Dorgu on the right. I just don't get it at all. It's one of the excuses I have made on occasion for Amorim. "He doesn't even have anyone that can play on the left". Now it looks like the Dorgu signing was to fix the right side. Also, the way Amad and Mainoo play, they are generally inverted a bit more centrally, so wouldn't it make sense to not have the wing-backs also inverted, so they can overlap?

Is it just because I don't have a UEFA Pro License?

I can stomach if we conceded that goal and we’re 1-0 down but we looked good forward.

But it’s like everyones playing at 0.75x speed.

I’m behind him and hope he can turn it around but we’ve never looked so clueless the players look lost

Boring

First manager that I like in a while, but even I can't really defend him tonight.

Choice of players for half of positions tonight is absolutely ridiculous:
- Mazroui was our player of the season as right CB, he plays him on the left
- Yoro says his favourite position is left CB, he plays him on the right
- inverted fullbacks despite Dalot being continuously shite on the left
- Bruno's and Maino's positions can be questioned too, Maino isn't left forward and Bruno isn't a fecking central midfielder

Fergie would struggle to get a tune out of these wasters.
Fergie would be top 3 with this lot. A midfield of Oshea and Cleverly is not better. RA is not able to talk to his team after a match as he cannot manage his emotions, has to wait for next morning, amateur of a coach he is terrified of playing at old OT. Complete opposite of Fergie who would trash every thing out on the night so that the day after would be a fresh day.

In all seriousness, its not working out. He's very young and inexperienced and I dont think he can turn this around. This is just another long list of mistakes INEOS have made, and, rather begrudgingly, I think we need to cut our losses and find someome else.

No belief, no effort. A fecking disgraceful performance, coming in after losing at Old Trafford 5 days ago. Player positions, the formation... This guy is clearly out of his depth.

He's going to be his own downfall, why can modern managers not accept you can't just stick to one tactic, especially at the highest level, instead of this my philosophy nonsense, it might work at Sporting against the dregs of the league it won't work here, if you play the same way every week no matter who it is against, you're going to get found out, organise differently against every team and keep them guessing. This is almost as bad as the modern playing out from the back with crap players philosophy

So much hope….. again…… so much disappointment. I respect him for wanting to do it his way, but can anyone see how he turns this around? If he’s not willing to change we’ll end up going down the same path as before. We can’t afford to buy our way out. We might not even be able to buy our way out his contract at this rate.
