Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

One thing you can credit him for tonight (and overall) it’s his in game management is top notch.
Definitely. Zirkzee really helped to link play and it made a huge difference. I thought Collyer was very good too. Those two gave us much better balance.

Oh look push your better players further up and put some attackers on and things look better,if he keeps persisting with this formation at home to teams like Southampton it's dog shit.
He's not changing the formation, get over it

I don’t think anyone was calling for his head, but it’s difficult to proclaim him the messiah when he’s lost nearly 50% of the games he’s been in charge of.

It’s extremely worrying how negatively we setup with this wing back system.
One nutter said he would get us relegated

Zirkzee has to start from now on!
Deserves to start the next few ones and could maybe go on a run. The problem with these players is the inconsistency, he might pull out a shocker and make the manager look stupid for trusting him.

I do think he got away with one there. Soton setup with no striker to clog the midfield and we don't do anything to counter it - meaning we just can't get out until they make changes and that shiny head dude came on and they dropped off a bit to try and hold on.

Subs were good but he needs to be more sensible with his selection - Rasmus is good at running in behind and being a brute, Zirkzee is much better suited to dropping in/linking and we needed way more of that to get through their extra man in midfield pressing.

I see what you did there haha but I agree we was 1-0 down to fecking southampton that wasn't in game management that desperation covered by amad.
His in game management was subbing on Zirkzee and pushing Amad forward, that's the definition of in game management.

What are you talking about. He got the starting XI wrong. He changed it and his changes won the game.

We don't have the team to play a high line cos they have shown they continuously get done on the turn, and attacking wise they have shown for well over a year they don't know what they are doing most the time. It's moments still

Let him get his own players and see, he clearly has a plan and an idea

Nah, he suits the wide position better. He gets in the right positions. Just needs to improve his intelligence.

I think he does too, but it's still not a great fit as I don't think he has the physicality to get up and down the pitch for 90 minutes at the intensity the manager needs

that's why I think we're better off cashing in as much as I rate the guy

I love the interview - it's not good but we won. He's not come in looking for adulation he knows there is so much work to do.

I have started to follow all Man United games because Rúben, you guys can change manager as many times you want, it won't make any difference. I wouldn't want half of the squad in my club. It's just a massive lack of quality, overpaid crap.
How it got to this point I have no idea but it's sad to see Man united like this.

Trust the process, bring players and get rid of all the overpaid divas.

Having a CF who can play with his back to goal is absolutely essential to this formation. Everything played into Hojlund ( who I like but is both in woeful form and still too raw to be the main-man) came back and had us pinned in.
Agree. A proper striker would make a huge difference.

I agree he got the starting 11 wrong too many half assed players who where hungover from the arsenal game but in game management was poor we were being outplayed till late in the game he should have changed it earlier much earlier.

Don't think we'll ever see Amad at wing back again, you need him in the danger zones as much as possible. He'll be rightly raging with that performance, shows exactly what this squad is like though, it's easy to give a shit against Liverpool and Arsenal but smashing shite like Southampton every week is what's gonna propel you up the table. Lot's of work to be done.

I will bet any amount if you wanna bet that

I do agree we need him further up the pitch, but in some games he'll struggle to get on the ball in the 10.. but as he matures he'll get better and better positionally in that 10 role I am sure

I'm sure he'll play in both positions plenty enough in the next couple of years

HIs changes were spot on.

He needs to be far more tactically flexible. We are too defensively setup.

The irony is that we play with 5 defenders and two holding midfielders and still look ridiculously fragile every time the opposition breaks on us.

Interesting that he was more angry after the Liverpool game than today.

Oh ok boss I guess I should love the fact we got outplayed by Southampton a shite team at home and then start playing attacking in the 80th minute I'm over it now thanks.
Doesn't matter, all I'm saying is he's not changing it, that's just a fact now, and you and others who keep posting about the formation need to get past it.

Not to say they were wrong, I'm glad he's proactive in making changes but the performance remained poor until we equalised. Zirkzee was an obvious improvement but I don't think the other changes made much of a difference.

Hojlund is definitely United's Pavlidis

What I will say though is he needs to be braver himself at times, we absolutely didn’t need 3 CBs at the end of the game.

Eriksen was pretty important to that second goal.

One thing I really like about him compared to the man he replaced is his subs. They change the game and he doesn’t leave it to late

I'm not allowed to vent at what was an alarming performance until Amad's equaliser? Great turnaround but still.
There’s a difference between venting and being dramatic/over the top/hysterical. Whatever you want to call it.

Completely agree.

And the same for those who think he is getting sacked if we lose more games.

He was brought in knowing what formation he will be playing. It is clear we don’t have the right players yet, but there is no point going back to 4 at the back.

Not only would that mean we have to start afresh I the summer to learn the system…but we have been shite with 4 at the back anyway.

He is the right man for the job and needs to get some better suited players in and more time with the team.

Good to see Casemiro completely frozen out like Rashford. I like the ruthlessness.
We could really do with selling them 2 this month to save all the rumours and questions about them for the remainder of the season.

Very good subs, which changed the game. We really can’t be playing that bad for 70 minutes, though. 10 minutes away from losing to one of the worst PL teams (points wise) ever, at home, was disappointing.
