Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Best of luck to him , the one thing that he is guaranteed is that he will have the fans full support and patience , every United manager has so far. Hopefully this is the one.

Wondering why we're announcing it before Sportings game tonight? Seems a bit odd to pull the trigger before they've had a chance doing it themselves.

Fantastic news.

Let's all hope in 3 and a half years time he's still here and we're all desperate for him to sign a new contract.
He will probably do well this season and be given a stupid new contract before July, then proceed to tank

It's such a classic stats/tactics nerd article. Simultaneously demonstrating an impressive level of research and complete cluelessness about actual football (which really shines when talking about how the various players will/won't fit in)
Wow why are you attacking @Raees ?

There's no replacing SAF. Head coach working as part of a wider team is the way to go.

Chuffed for Ruud that he gets a few more games as manager, and leaves Amorim at Sporting until the international break, giving them a good window to source a replacement.

I suspect that title is slowly fading from the game, he'll almost certainly have input into transfers but no decision making.
Yeh, that’s the way it works in Portugal and most countries I believe.

It’s better suited for him.

Excellent. Thought he said he was going to tell all after tonight's game? Lying already, not a good sign.

Interesting from SSN.

Saying Amorim was the only candidate that the club wanted with discussions since the summer.

Would explain how this happened so quickly as they simply had to bring the plan forward.

Would also cast doubt on all of the paper talk regarding Tuchel and others.

One thing is for sure, no one has a clue what business we do these days in the media. It’s refreshing to see.

We are all watching Sporting today then, right?

The warmest of welcome, Ruben!

I know I was super excited when ETH was appointed too, but this feels different somehow. Maybe because he'll have a different structure above him (INEOS).

Feels like I can look forward to our games again, and not feel defeated before the kick off. First we'll see how Ruud does in the upcoming games.

Feels a bit like how Edwards, Charlton and co courted Sir Alex.

We didn't have the CEO and sporting director in the building when we talking to managers and thinking about sacking ten Hag early summer. Once they officially arrived the focus shifted to Amorim and he emerged as the clear number one target. The Athletic reported the other day that Berrada was the driving force behind the appointment but remember everyone City weren't looking at him. :)

Will be interesting to see if he sits in the stand for the next few games before starting full time. A few flight from and back to Lisbon wouldn’t be too bad if he wants to have an early look at the team, but wondering if it will too distracting for everyone.

When the ball hits row Z cos Casemiros at 10, that's Amorim.

Needs work.
