Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

My confidence in him grows every week.

  1. We already have an identity. You can see the areas where he needs a better fit but there’s clarity as to what we are trying to do
  2. He clearly knows talent. None of the head scratching selections (or exclusions) from under the last manager
  3. Two above gives me confidence with new signings. We should hopefully get quality players going forward and get stronger

As a soured fan from so many false dawns, am now waiting for Arsenal on Weds with at least some hope.
Just enjoy it man, we’ve moved on a manager clearly out of his depth and got one that was an upgrade. If it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out but these aren’t bad players, Ten Hag just convinced us all they were useless and he needed 5 years to fix it. We watch to see our team win, don’t worry about what might happen.

I’m not used to such score in league games. 4:0!
ETH created a legacy but in the wrong way.

The more I see of him, the more I grow to dislike Ten Hag and what he did to the standards at this club.
Agreed. And as a fanbase we should also learn a lesson on what we tolerate and excuse under the guise of trying not to be like other teams.

It was crazy how many people were telling us to simply not believe our eyes.

They just have to have Odegaard back whilst we're missing two key players due to poxy yellow's. It'll certainly be a struggle, but hopefully Ruben has a solid plan.
Make a plan to handle Havertz trotting over to lean on the goalkeeper at every corner and we win that game.

I’ll certainly worry if Arsenal smash us! The fear is the effort is back but will it last, that’s what we’ve seen before. Hopefully Amorim is the one who can sustain it.

I actually prefer Shaw to Martinez cause he is quicker and might deal with Saka better.

We might lose some games and even by few in big games, but we will score a lot as well. once we sort out midfield and bring top striker, we might be a force again. Till then at least we will be entertaining.

After two games we not only know how he wants to play, we can see it developing and we can see what we are missing. Players already seem to be learning how to adapt to the system. Two games.

You can be sure that if we struggle, the caf and the match day thread will be entirely understandable and reasonable about it.

Both our strikers have 2 goals in 2 games. Rashford scored 3 in 3. What the hell have you done with them Ruben?

A lot of room for improvement, but we’re already playing like a different team - evidently, a/the new system makes changes more palpable, but feck me -considering the last guy was 2.5 years in and I was still hearing “we need time” shouts to see something. I’m happy

It’s even more jaw dropping that we don’t give away possession right away the moment we gain possession!

It depends on who plays LWB but Shaw always has a horrid time against Saka. Heck, more times than not he would gift wide players plenty of time and space to delivery crosses/passes as Shaw is too flat footed on his heels and too scared to engaged.

If he plays as LCB, it may not necessarily be him who will deal with Saka anyways. I'd predict it will be Dalot as LWB, who locked him (and many other players like Salah) last season. If it's Garnacho, god help us.

The thing is, Everton were terrible today, not downplaying the team's performance, but Everton were terrible today and we used to struggle against terrible teams, he made the team very solid defensively and that's a good start, not conceding goals, then scoring 4 goals will give these lot the confidence boost they need which will allow Amorim to further enhance his style and make the players believe in him.

Let's not get too excited and then be deflated when we lose to Arsenal (not saying we can't win but just keeping it real) this is the pain part, games against stronger opponents will be very hard to win now, but this team should be able to dispatch the canon fodder type of teams like Everton and Southampton easily.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim talking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was far from a perfect performance. We have to improve, you can feel that in the game. After 15 minutes Everton controlled the game and it was difficult for us and we were losing the second ball. I felt that the players could solve some problems that we have as a team because of the quality that they have but it was far from a perfect performance but a really good result and tough match."

On their opening goal: "You have to congratulate the players and the rest of the staff. The most important thing on set pieces is the staff so great job. You can see how tall they are and how small we are as a team so we tried to see where we'd have space to create danger."

On Amad Diallo: "He is really big in talent, but small in size. He did a great job but he is also has to improve. He is a great moment. Ruud van Nistelrooy helped him a lot in his games in charge and now he's helping me."

On the mood becoming more buoyant and optimistic: "It helps to have a new face, it always helps. We have to be very clear to our fans and this will always help. Rather than trying to convince the fans about this performance we have a lot to do, it will take time. Sometimes we are not playing well but defended everyone together. Our fans just ask for hard work and then in time they will ask for better football."

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim talking to Sky Sports: "The result was good but we were pragmatic. It was not pretty but we were pragmatic. We did our job, which is to win.

"You can feel that we have a long way to go. You can feel that in the first few minutes, where we were OK, but then Everton controlled the game. Then we got the goals in the right moment and that changed the game.

"You can't just focus on the result, you have to focus on the way the result appeared. Like before the game, we have so much to do, but it is better to work with victories. Let's focus on the performance more than the result.

"You can feel it during the game. It isn't a line of top performances, it is a rollercoaster of performances. We have some moments when we are good but then we have moments when we have to suffer. We did it again like in the Europa League. We need time to train and improve. It is better to work with victories."

On Joshua Zirkzee: "It is everything for the player. He did a great job. It is good for his confidence. We had an idea, but it is not because I selected him that i had an iphipcheny, we needed fresh legs. The players are helping a lot, congratulations to them."

On Marcus Rashford's improved form: "A new coach is always like that, but there is so much to improve. He can do so much better. We all have to improve. But it was a great job from the players."

Thanks, we’re all thoroughly miserable now.

Amorim has his 3rd name on his starters list...

Onana, Mazraoui and now Amad.

Progressing nicely. No need to get carried away, just enjoy the easy win today and look forward to Wednesday night!

Everything he's saying is music to my ears, he's the complete opposite in every single way to ETH and it's such an incredible relief.

It’s the bare minimum a manager should get out of the team, it’s a building block towards everything else. If the lads won’t run through a brick wall for you, you’ve done something wrong to lose their trust. It could be your shit system, it could be that you’re all stick, no carrot, it could just be that you’re a bit of a dick and lack charisma.

It might not always be this way for Amorim but you have to keep people onside and if you don’t then you deserve to lose your job, no matter how good it was previously. Sometimes a shock to the system is what everyone needs to regain focus, and just as Amorim has come in and made an instant impact, his replacement will if he manages to feck up from here.

We might get battered by arsenal, we’re still very much in transition with a new manager, but it will be interesting to see what the response to that would be, Ten Hag seemed to just accept it and say it didn’t count, I doubt Amorim would let people off like that. That being said, I think we’re going to give arsenal a bloody nose anyway. They won’t be expecting it.

I think it's important for us to have experienced these awful, awful years that we have, so that we can enjoy this moment now.

Its obvious he can coach a team and improve the system. We will have bumps in the road and we will have more good wins. This season is a learning curve for Ruben and staff and for the players we keep. This will help no end for next season, once he has a chance to bring in some of his own pick players through the summer transfer window.

Love the messaging after a 4-0 win. Great job but must do better. Still way too inconsistent with our passing and pressing and decision making in key areas.
