Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Ruben onto something. Players just need to listen and participate in his project.

Perhaps this season is not for scraps just yet, but I'd be very careful with passing judgements after Arsenal clash. Still way too early for answers.
Agree, that is not a game to judge. What we need is to stop losing to teams we should be beating.

No way should we be getting 'smashed' against Arsenal. An honourable loss? Sure, but it shouldn't be a disaster like 7 nil and I don't even think Amorim on his worst day could lose by that much. ETH was a total fraud.

Love that he mentioned he wasn’t happy with the way we played despite winning 4-0. The result was good. Performance not to good. We let Everton have a lot of the ball. If we can win without playing good then we’re gonna be on fire when we start to click

Agreed. I’m excited to see how Amorim as us playing in bigger games. I’m sure he’ll have a plan.

It definitely didn't, we'd win often win games late, hence the popularity of the phrase 'Fergie time'. There were some great comebacks required in games as well. We had some brilliant players and great teams, but every game wasn't a procession under Fergie.

Don't get me wrong, everyone wants to see their side do well and reach the dizzy heights, but it's not realistic to have every player provide a faultless performance every week and stroll through every game to a 5-0 victory. The way a lot of people talk and criticise, it feels like that's what they expect.

It wouldn't even be that fun after a while if it did happen, people would just become highly unreasonable and moan about the team for any perceived negative performance or result.

I remember being underwhelmed in 99/00 and 00/01 when we won the league because we'd failed to add on to our CL tally.

He just says all the right things. Really tuned in to the fans as well.

I'm trying not to get excited. Let's see what happens...

He just seems so in tune with everything we have hated about our team the last 2 years and what he needs and doesn’t need to do.

‘Let’s focus on the performance and not the results’.

We have been screaming out for this attitude for bloody ages now.

Better standards than many of our own fans.

"who is available?"
"no manager could do better with these players"

Ffs
One of the most annoying rhetoric to endure since it was obvious to everyone with common sense that the manager and his tactics were a big problem.

Is that more muscle memory with being a counter attack team for so long?

Possession was 60-40

Under ETH this season we scored 20 goals and conceded 16 in 13 games. 7 of those goals came against Barnsley. So in the remaining 12 games, not against lower league opposition, we scored 13 and conceded 16. Woeful. A goal a game for, 1.3 a game against.

Since he left, in 7 games, we have scored 19 and conceded 6.

Really shows how poorly we were organised.
I know he's gone and we should move on, but it's still utterly baffling to me how so many were so eager to defend the guy and make excuses for his incompetence. The facts speak for themselves, yet we had to endure over a year of arguing against people spouting complete rubbish as to why he should be given time. It was very frustrating.

As you've pointed out, it's only been 7 games without him and the difference is obvious, which really isn't at all surprising

I really like him based on what I've seen so far. Seems intelligent and compassionate, and he says all the right things.

But I've been hurt before.

We're going to drive him mad trying to figure out why we just shut off and go into our shells and forget how to pass for 15-20 minutes every game.

Get out “The Chosen One” banner at OT. Undefeated in 7 straight games. When did that last happen?
To be fair four of them were under Ruud, stretching the entirety of his spell as interim.

That’s a great question though. Does anybody know the answer to it?

Nah it will be fine the more they play his way and realise it works and he trusts them they will be full of confidence.

Definite positives to take. There's only so much he can do with the physicality of the squad right now, I don't think we'll solve that completely without some good recruitment and we'll lose games this season because of it, probably starting on Wednesday, but this system is 100% improving us already.

It's no coincidence that Hojlund, Rashford and Zirkzee have all scored braces in these last two games after barely looking like scoring all season. We're actually creating chances for them and they're less isolated due to being closer to each other. It's also largely because of Amad at wing-back, he's getting a lot of space in this system and when he presses and wins the ball back, you've got 3 players centrally for him to find.

He got a bit lucky today, the game was 50/50 until we scored. However he is reacting to things very quickly and actually using his squad very very sensibly.
We'll see how this goes against Arsenal, there are some misfits in his system but it's not showing yet. Very happy with what I'm seeing so far.

Come on mate.
He just needed more time, possibly just one more game before everything clicked.
There was also the fact that there was nobody else who could come in and do any better.

This was really crazy. There were so many fans here supported ETH with the reason that no suitable manager that we could get to replace ETH and perform better.

RVN proved them wrong in a few games and now Amorim did even better.

Honestly, I’m very thankful that we managed to get Amorim in. I didn’t think that it could have been done. The difference between us now and us under EtH is night and day.

Could it be?

Yeah, I'm sure the desk, microphones and other things didnt give it away.
Having stood about 10metres away from Stuart Pearce, some ex Reading player and the ITV lot for their coverage on Saturday, it's not as obvious when they're just chit chatting versus actually doing the serious live bit as you'd think .

I think we will be even better after a few windows when Amorim gets his own players. We only have Amad that can really press very well. Look at Liverpool, almost their entire team can press like Amad. This is the standard we should aim for.

Still shake my head every time I think about how many people didn't think ETH was rock bottom or that sacking that fraud might end up making us even worse because there wasn't an obvious, Klopp level replacement to bring in.

Whatever, just glad we moved on before it was too late this season and brought in RA. Good early signs for sure.

He is very good in player rotation too. Under ETH, he generally used the same players until they were injured.

Indeed. Once we get players that fit Amorim’s style of play better in, we’ll look even better.

It’s crazy that there were still people in his corner right up until he got sacked!

Early days but absolutely love the bloke. His interviews are so refreshing and I find myself agreeing with everything he says. He’s made me genuinely excited for our games again rather than being bored to death watching them out of necessity.

I agree but still see us losing on Wednesday, but fingers crossed it is a good match, maybe we pinch it, just see Arsenal capitalising on the defensive errors we have been making

ETH had Amad sat on the bench most of last season, preferring to play Antony, tells you all you need to know

Yeah. I don’t see us picking up points midweek. The defence is still shaky but the attack has improved massively.

I really don't think pressing is an issue. I think we're fine at it.

What we do with the ball in the final third is our big problem.

The one thing I appreciate the most are the goals scored by low crosses plates into the feet of the strikers.
It seems like we didn’t manage to do that since SAF and that’s what you need if you want to be an attacking team. We played without attacking patterns for so long.

I believe heavily in this guy, I love how he's taking a look around his squad and making sure he gives everyone an opportunity. But as is the case with Eriksen and Evans, he's clearly got a ruthless side that's been missing.

So happy that he's our manager. I don't think he's really put a foot wrong yet.

We’re playing with proper width and stretching the field rather than the nonsensical shit that the previous manager tried to do with fullbacks tucking in.
