Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

So this is what a proper coach does is it. I’ve seen it at other clubs but didn’t think we’d get one ourselves. Lovely start Ruben

Fantastic presser. Said Everton changed the tactic and the team was not trained to respond that scenario and hence we struggled initially. Assured it will come eventually.

I’ll certainly worry if Arsenal smash us! The fear is the effort is back but will it last, that’s what we’ve seen before. Hopefully Amorim is the one who can sustain it.
Why? Arsenal are much further in their development, have most of their key players back and have been playing well recently. We’ve had 3 games with Amorim so far and players are clearly still learning the new system and tactics. They should be expected to absolutely smash us now but it should not matter in the grand scheme of things.

There’s an actual plan now and we will keep improving.

I love how honest he is in his assessment. No bullshit to be seen. Despite winning 4-0 he still says there's a lot to improve. Bringing the standards back

Clear style of football. Clear tactical instructions. Clear intention to hold more of the ball than the opposition. Basic things missing from ten Hag’s tenure.

And now compare this to us being thoroughly outplayed, ten Hag complimenting performance, and everyone saying that he can’t possibly say a bad word about the team anyway.

Very high probability Arsenal will comfortably beat us. Not because we are bad or they are better players, but because we are not trained enough yet. And that's absolutely fine.

I said smash us, not lose.

On Joshua Zirkzee: "It is everything for the player. He did a great job. It is good for his confidence. We had an idea, but it is not because I selected him that i had an iphipcheny, we needed fresh legs. The players are helping a lot, congratulations to them."

Yep. Agreed. Take the L and move on. Any sign of a performance at The Emirates will be a positive.

They just have to have Odegaard back whilst we're missing two key players due to poxy yellow's. It'll certainly be a struggle, but hopefully Ruben has a solid plan.
Who are we missing?

Nothing infuriated more than seeing “What should he have said? I hate all my players and want to sell them?”

Think we'll have some frustrating results this season but won't matter if we're going into right direction in the long run. We won't finish higher than 6th in league is my prediction, which is not disaster given the whole context.
That’s the spirit after a 4-0 win

His interviews are a breath of fresh air, I’d stopped listening to ETH

This is thread about Amorim, not the one about the game vs Everton. Writing about expectations this season. Better than getting hyped up like all the fanboys every season before inevitably getting disappointed.

We have played without both and had good results
Maz De Ligt Shaw
Ugarte Casemiro
Amad Garnacho
Bruno Mason
Hojlund
Garnacho won’t start , Dalot will
I expect him to bring in Mount who is decent at pressing .

We aren’t playing Garnacho at LWB. Doesn’t suit it and we’d be quite silly to play two attackers in those positions away at the Emirates.

Probably AI

Under ETH this season we scored 20 goals and conceded 16 in 13 games. 7 of those goals came against Barnsley. So in the remaining 12 games, not against lower league opposition, we scored 13 and conceded 16. Woeful. A goal a game for, 1.3 a game against.

Since he left, in 7 games, we have scored 19 and conceded 6.

Really shows how poorly we were organised.

He needed more time though... fecking stubborn prick, annoyed me so much this season.

It worked like that for twenty years under Fergie and it was definitely not fairly shit.
It definitely didn't, we'd win often win games late, hence the popularity of the phrase 'Fergie time'. There were some great comebacks required in games as well. We had some brilliant players and great teams, but every game wasn't a procession under Fergie.

Don't get me wrong, everyone wants to see their side do well and reach the dizzy heights, but it's not realistic to have every player provide a faultless performance every week and stroll through every game to a 5-0 victory. The way a lot of people talk and criticise, it feels like that's what they expect.

It wouldn't even be that fun after a while if it did happen, people would just become highly unreasonable and moan about the team for any perceived negative performance or result.

I still want to see: Mazraoui at RWB, Amad as one of the right 10, Rashford at the left 10, Garnacho at Lwb
We need Amad on that right side, he needs space to perform as he does. Afraid he will get pushed around as a number ten because of his size. Why change something that works? Maz is a great player but think he lacks the pace to play RWB in this setup.

He does like to explain his tactic to the media, not sure he needs to be so open tbh, but each to their own.

Everything is going well at the moment but you should never let your guard down when talking to the scum. A few defeats and they will be more than happy to stick the knife in.

We should have scored 2 goals against Ipswich which means we would have lived to the x2G record that Amorim has this season.

I've seen enough, he's the second coming of Fergie
Nope, Fergie was Stilgar. We have our Usul. He gets to ride his first worm on Wednesday. Lets see how it goes... If we lose, it is because he does not want to be bashful. If we win, then it is what it is.

He is a very sensible man, feels like half the battle in recent years.
Such a breath of fresh air seeing a guy that accurately and clearly describes what we watched on the pitch instead of just spouting bullshit propaganda and moaning about past accomplishments.

The scoreline flatters us a bit, and Everton looked overall a better side that first half until that goal. I still think we have some serious upgrades to make athletically all around the pitch (they bullied us that first half hour), but the ideas and plan are logical and when it comes off we look dangerous as feck. The quick passing to suck in the press before playing the long diagonal reminds me of early Klopp patterns where you’d see Trent or Robertson with 50 yards of space to run with the ball when it comes off.

I’d like to see that as well, but I’ll also admit the Amad role at that WB is actually far more attacking and has more freedom than I initially thought. He’s basically playing more of an old school Ronaldo role as a wide RW that’s working up and down the touch line as opposed to a standard wingback. It gets him a ton of touches and involvement in the game even if he’s not going to get quite as many pure shooting opportunities from there.

That's brutal.

The Clearest example of him stamping his identity on the team is in all 3 games we have scored within a minute of either the first half kick off or the second half kick off.

Could it be?
