Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

It’s amazing how a bit of charisma can get almost universal buy-in before we have kicked a ball. All for it, I’m excited
Totally, after suffering through Ten Haag, it's a breath of fresh air sorely needed for both the fanbase and hopefully the players. We desperately needed someone to look like they own the responsibility and role they have. He just oozes right man, right place, right time.

Both will take time but a lot also depends on leadership and the kind of support Amorim gets. If he gets backed 100%, even when there are issues with certain players, I am sure the others will follow quickly or be sold in summer latest. All he needs to do is stick to his principles, unlike ETH who did so in the first season and then things changed

He has to get this lot get better in both Physical and mental state if we have to have a decent season. Summer is too far away.

It just needs to be seen how soon can he get this group play to its potential.

Exactly what I mean, fans will start this again. When Bruno and Rashford, mainly Rashford being the reason why he had a successful season 1.

So I can see fans turning on him if Bruno and Rashford continue to play.. regardless of when they say "I will back the manager"
Rashford had a high GA season but his performances were always hit/miss, more often miss than hit. EtH should have quickly realised he wasn't someone to build a team around, if he was worth his salt.

If Amorim gets Bruno and Rashford to deliver consistently good performances, I doubt anyone will have an issue with them playing.

I’m feeling optimistic. We have some very talented players and with good coaching he can get a tune out this squad.

Getting rid of the donut midfield would be a great start!

If he gets the team pulling in the same direction and every player accountable for their individual performances regardless of status, then who he picks becomes less and less of an issue.

Ten hag started well on the player management side, but then bizarrely sunk into a Rashy and Bruno trap when he couldn't get his ideas across the pitch.
There is no such thing as a Rashy and Bruno trap. Whoever you are parroting is wrong. Two players should not be mentioned in the same breath

When I watch United from the mid 90s to the late 00s I see a completely different brand of football than what we've watched over the last decade. There's no going back as the game has moved on from that era but I want to see more passion, more risks taken, and fewer square passes and walking around waiting for someone to do something.
Was watching football with my 16 year old nephew and was showing him games from 1990s. He low key said its so reckless and not much thinking is involved. Its like games in his school pitch. I never felt such a generation gap. I think football completely changed now.

Embarassing, they've had a whole month to come up with good questions about his system, his adaptation to the PL, research, the differences for him but nope, he’ll waste 5-10 questions on this type of agenda based bullshit.

Sums up the British press, hope he has the skin for it and recognizes that they're never going to be a friend/ally to him and his team.

The press do love to ask the same question, phrased a little differently each time.

You know honestly I thought EtH was the only coach that deserved more time than he got. The ones before him had to go because the football was ridiculous but EtH was getting things together. The team really didn't do him any favors by not scoring goals. They literally got him sacked is the truth. Although I'm not too unhappy with him gone. It was getting very toxic and he had to leave. I hope Ruben Amorim brings in a lot of smiles and jumps in with the team. These guys need to be appreciated and kicked in the back at the same time. I think Amorim will do that.

I still have high hopes of getting in the Top 4 and winning a trophy but I would totally understand and be considerate if either of those things doesn't happen. We need to give him time but if he's a good coach, we'll be able to see some strategic play straight away. We just need to see some good going forward football and goals. Rest will come in time.

I'm not getting my hopes too high though! It has always gone wrong for good coaches here. Break the cycle please, we need to get to 21 and more faster.

Yeah, a bit stupid indeed. At the end of the day, formation is the least important. Winning games and playing exciting football is what gets most sane fans going
We need to do what Amorin does best

No point in bringing a pastry chef in and handing him a plate of meat

I'm not sure if I get your point here.

How having 3 at the back gives us advantage when building from the back? Recycling the ball between GK and CBs was never an issue for us even under Ole/ETH second season; the problem is progressing the ball to the forwards, something we struggle with massively.

When you said "How having 3 at the back gives us advantage when building from the back? Recycling the ball between GK and CBs was never an issue for us even under Ole/ETH second season"

Aren't you implying that we don't need 3 at the back because building from the back was never an issue under Ole/ETH?

I'm telling you the reason it was never an issue is because we were effectively already playing 3 at the back under Ole/ETH.

The biggest difference is if you want to shuffle your lineup by dropping the DM/FB into the back line (and the other FB inverting into midfield), or you have a dedicated 3CB + 2 CM setup from the get go. 3-2-5 is basically what all top teams operate on these days. The structure is more or less the same, the difference is personnel

Rashford sells papers. His system doesn't.

I think you’re wrong about ETH. That fella got himself sacked through his stubbornness.

But anyway, onwards and upwards

First time we’ve had a new manager and them saying they don’t want to use needing a lot of time as an excuse. It’s easy for managers to come in and use that excuse but we’ve seen time and time again that new managers can go to clubs and implement a style straight away… you won’t always win games but you need a consistent style in the way you play.

Goid enough interview/ basically he needs to avoid falling over cliffs in these. Keep the pressers low-key. Roll on Sunday.

He obviously needs time to get his vision and ideas through to 100%, but the squad available to him should be enough as it is to win games at a good rate.

Comes across really well. Said all the right things I think.

Has already identified that we need to be better physically, work harder off the ball and keep the ball better so he's clearly watched plenty of us.

Btw, is there any of our managers post SAF who has not mentioned that the players need to be fitter and it is something they need to work on?

Is there somewhere I can see the average distance ran per game for us against Sporting. Interested to see player by player how much Sporting ran 1) by position but also 2) how that compares against Utd and the players who could play in those positions. Just need a site, I'll do the research myself.
