Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Lindelof injured now. He'll have two fit CBs for Ipswich. I'm thinking he might try using Ugarte as a half-back at this point.
Maguire should be back for Ipswich, as will Kobbie so Casemiro could fill in at CB. Also if Malacia is deemed ready to play LWB next week then we may see Dalot at RCB and Mazraoui at RWB. We may even see Garnacho or Antony at LWB. We have options, we’ll be good.

So, is this the initial set up we're likely to see from Ruben against Ipswich?

GK. Onana

CB. Lindelof
CB. De Ligt
CB. Martinez

RWB. Mazzouri
LWB. Dalot

CM. Ugarte
CM. Casemiro

AM. Amad
AM. Bruno

ST. Rashford
No, Lindelof got injured on international duty for a start. Maybe Yorro instead?

I hope Rashford takes the opportunity of a new manager seriously

We need him back to his best
I mean he usually does but he then reverts to bad form and looking disinterested the minute things aren't smooth sailing.

I've never looked so forward to seeing the back of a player as I am with him. So sick of the years of inconsistency and poor attitude.

no way. He has consistently said he will use a system he is familiar with

“United cannot play the way we play, they cannot be so defensive. We will have to adapt.”

“I know how I am going to play in the beginning because you have to start with a structure that you know. We don’t have a lot of time to train, so I have to show something that I know very well.”

These quotes for me point to a back 4. United don’t know how to play a back 3 with wing backs. He acknowledges there isn’t much time to train, and I think the last bit means he is aware he has to deliver from the start ( just my interpretation I could be wrong) as opposed to imposing a system that he knows but the players don’t.

If I may..
- The first quote was after the Sporting-Man City game and he was referring to the fact that Sporting only had 30% possession and had to play in counter attack. What he ment was that Man United cannot play defensively and in counter attack. He explained that.
- In the second quote he was referring to a structure that he and his backroom team know very well (not the players) - " I have to show something I know very well". And that is a 3-4-3 (or 3-4-2-1 if you prefer).

So I believe he will star to show his idea from day one.
Most likely starting with FB as wingbacks and changing to using wingers when the defensive system is implemented

Can’t see Yoro starting straight back from injury. A lot of people have him in the starting 11 but it’s a risk. He’d be better being eased in, especially with the physicality of the league.

I think he plays 4 at the back vs Ipswich…..
Can’t see it. His interview the other day says it all. It’s obvious he wants to start with something he knows and lay down the foundations from the start.

He could get some game time in the next couple of games to build him up ready for the big games against Arsenal and City next month. If he isn’t integrated soon it will only get harder toward Christmas

Wonder if he continues to wear an arm band during games but obviously with our crest.

I’m gambling on the difference between a system he knows well, and a system the players know well….
True. But if he’s going to want to implement his system then he may aswell start from the off so the players can get more familiar with it.

I think he comes on against Ipswich and then starts the Europa game midweek.

I saw sky sports had him in the starting 11 a few days back, I thought it was nuts. No way he starts.

United match going fans don't deserve Pogba, let them keep signing Bruno's name as he spams nearly half of his passes into row z. The fact Pogba never had his own song is all you need to know about the environment he got here.

I hope he finds a club that appreciates him and he can get back to his best, which is absolute genius.
A breath of fresh air to hear something nice and objective about Pogba. Thanks

I think people have confused systems with formations

I do enjoy satire

I read it the total opposite, he will start with a structure he knows "I have to show something that I know very well"

The first line means he can't play so defensive, as in as the underdog as they were in the City game.

It shouldn't be too difficult to decipher from the quote you posted - "We don’t have a lot of time to train, so I have to show something that I know very well.”

It's possible the tweaks in shape could be quite subtle but I'm hoping Amorim goes bold. I'll be most interested in seeing what he does with the wing-backs. Someone like Mazraoui definitely has the intelligence to drop in and form part of the back 3 if Amorim wants to go more attacking and use a winger as one of the wing-backs.

Yes, if by international duty you mean swanning around NYC looking like a pillock.

I don’t think I’d have given the players time off this time round if I was the club.

Who would they have trained with? The coaches weren't permitted. Winter break coming up, that weeks rest was needed. Especially when a majority are still training and playing.

Is that you Paul?

Whats with these newbies, are they Pogba's accounts? Appearing from nowhere to support him
