Round of 16 | Switzerland vs Italy | Germany vs Denmark

Pathetic team Italy, every single one of them except Donnarumma. Their capitulation is reminiscent of United under Rangnick, you can tell they are not this bad, they simply have zero heart. Not having heart for your national team is shameful. Why are you even there if you don't care

Loved that tournament!

Ironically at the time when both teams were probably at their poorest on the national scene. Both went out in the group stages. Swiss should've done better but lost Alex Frei in the first game who was their main source of goals and the Yakin brothers were a little past their best. Austria talent pool have dried up so they were expected to make little impact.

Fond memories of some of their 90s players though, Andreas Herzog, Toni Polster and Stephane Chapuisat were all excellent players in that time.

True. Donnaruma can be proud of himself. This could have been 3 or 4-0 easily

The Italian players have some terrible neck tattoos.

Really dont understand why so many pundits thought Italy would win this and possibly even go all the way to the final. It'd like they didn't watch any of the games before it.

Not too much of a difference between Italy and England. I thought they were poor in the first game as well.

England has incredible fire power up front though. Italy's attack is depleted of talent

it's the classic "they'll come good when it matters" trap. looks like this is the best Italy can play though. 4 games and 4 slow, shitty football from them.

released from the shackles of Arteta-ball.
Good point. Specific systems, such as Arteta's or Pep's, is not for everybody. Nothing wrong with moving on and being great in a different style of team.

England have at least controlled their games. Toothlessly but still. Switzerland have just dominated Italy today.

Two minutes added on. Even the ref wants to put Italy out of their misery.

One of the worst Italian performances I’ve ever seen

England didn't control the Denmark game. That's a side similar but Swiss have more upfront this tournament. Vargas-Embolo-Ndoye is a very tricky frontline to contain.

Italy were fecking atrocious. Are they managed by Southgate too?

That was pitiful from Italy, sad to watch from a great footballing country.

Switzerland were damn good, hope they go far.

Italy are rancid! Hard to behave they’re the current holders of the trophy, and even though that side was hardly a vintage one they seem to have regressed massively since then.

How will this side be treated by your media?
Not well. Expectations weren't high but this is downright offensive. Spalletti will be crucified over Di Lorenzo for sure, at least, and probably a bunch of other things too. And I'm not sure we should stick with him after this
