Barkley wouldn't touch United with a shitty stick without the lure of Champions League football, yet Spurs who have been in the Champions League once or twice since it's inception, and who aren't in it this season, spent the summer blowing their load on world class players that we'd all love in our side.

I haven't said that a few seasons out of the Champions League would be "irreparably damaging" for United, although it would of course be seriously damaging. Nor can you compare such damage with Spurs lack of CL football, since our sponsorship deals and long-term wage bill and are unrelated to the assumption of CL football.
In other words, CL football would be a financial bonus for us, whereas it's loss for you would be a financial hit, especially if it extended over more than one season.

Having the right manager in charge is paramount to any side's success. There's a lot of clubs now in Europe who are mega-rich, so it's not a given anymore that United are front of the queue when it comes to signing the top players.

Why the assumption that our sponsorships are all contingent on Champions League football while Spurs aren't? On an equal footing with neither in the Champions League are Spurs somehow a bigger draw for sponsors?
Are the players Spurs signed this summer world class? If so, how were they able to attract them without Champions League football, since you're insistent that this is where we'd come unstuck?
How were Spurs capable of a Top 4 finish without Champions League football to offer, whereas without Champions League football the same would be beyond United?

I'd imagine United wouldn't have too much difficulty replacing Moyes if the need arose. A struggling half season doesn't lessen our draw. We're a massive club and one any manager would love to have on their CV.
Agreed, but I don't think you'd get one of the top managers. I don't see you getting a Mourinho, Guardiola or a Klopp for example.

tbh I doubt Moyes will be gone anytime soon. at least not within 3 years. But if by then we need someone else, all those you mentioned and more will be available.Personally if we ever replace Moyes, I hope it is a couple of top Reds..Ole and gary Neville. Great talent. Looks to be enjoying playing a bit further forward, just off Lukaku. He's developed into a real 'go to man' for them this season. Technically very good, but has a drive about his game as well. So many young, British midfielders at the minute appear to be incapable of finding space, but Barkley seems to have that. Can give and receive a pass, good technique, physically good and has the vision that you need to play in an advanced midfield role. The way Everton set up gives him an opportunity to drop a little bit deeper and influece the game as well.

Cheers for that. Cracking performance. Wins fouls in abundance, always thinking positively, commanding figure (nobody is afraid to give him the ball and look to him like the key player he is). He's just utter class.

I know jury's still out on fellaini but he has been really disappointing. I can live with that fact that he isn't a twinkle toed technically gifted midfielder. We expected that.
Heck, we even expected him to be slow as feck, which he is. What I can't accept is how poor he is in shielding the back four and winning the ball back in midfield. Even when defending set pieces he looks passive despite being 2 sizes bigger than everyone else.
There is a reason we have never signed a midfielder in the mold of Fellaini. Its because I can't see him playing the expansive attacking football thats part of the clubs heritage.
Still needs to work on his consistency in terms of ball retention in tighter areas, still an element of clumsiness at the moment but he's easily going to be probably the best number 10 england have produced since Gascoigne. Better than Rooney in the hole soon enough, his dribbling is a season away from really exploding in my opinion.. and he's working under the perfect manager for him, one who will be patient and let him play despite the odd poor performance and one with the tactical and technical nous to take him to that next level.
We should have gone for him rather than blowing it all on that that oversized oaf we have with the perm. That beings said, he didn't really get that much game time under Moyes when he was still at Everton, so would he want to play under him again?
Could just as easily see Rooney go the other direction, tbh. Imagine Wayne playing in front of Barkley?
