Ross Barkley

Sign him up Moyesy!

Not going to go for less than 40 million imo. Everton will fleece us naked.

I can't see him not joining us over the next couple of seasons.

That will depend on how this season pans out. I was of the opinion that we would lose him to you but if we get into Europe and you don't things could be very different.

Even if Everton make Europe and we don't, that's not going to stop players like Barkley still wanting to move. United is a massive club, one of the biggest in the world, the lure would be huge. Not an issue IMO.

It does. Look how reluctant we were in selling Fellaini before you upped your bid. If we get into Europe then we have more room to squeeze you dry.

From that perspective sure, Everton have a little more leverage. But I was referring to the player himself wanting the move. Can't see that being affected by European qualification.

Think he'd be better staying at Everton for a couple more seasons.

I think sometimes young players can move too soon.

Fergie actually thought the same with Rooney and his hand was force.

His contract is only till 2016 btw. So that could force admires to move.

You must be joking. Barkley would not turn down the chance to play in the CL, stay at his long-standing home club and play under a better manager than Moyes just because Man. Utd want him.

Missed the game, but what makes him stand out? Been impressed with his dribbling skills, but not seen him that much to know his attributes.

I've finally seen a game that wasn't one of his off days! He was brilliant today. I still think he'll be a CM in the long run. He plays like a CM but with a few added extras. We need midfielders that can carry the ball like that. Bring him and Morrison in.

That's the attraction of playing for a big club I suppose. There is no guarantee he'd wanna play for Man Utd but we can't rule out a possible interest. It's something Spurs haven't experienced a lot, players "dreaming" of playing for them.

If we go for him in the summer but they get into champions league and we don't, I can see him staying just for that season though. He would have helped get the team he grew up in into the champions league, so no way would he leave just because we're United. Would be able to see him leave anytime after that though.

I was of opinion Barkley and Moyes didn't have greatest of relationship - have I got this wrong?

Agreed with those saying he should stay at Everton for the near future. He's still young and will be under excellent guidance under Martinez.

I think 1 more year at Everton improving his decision making and then he can look at a big move to a top club

Do you imagine that a lot of players dream of playing under Moyes? And giving up CL football to do so?

Under the scenario given, Barkley would very obviously stay put.

Rumours on twatter suggest we are also interested in Pogba. I cant see Moyes preferring Pogba over Barkley though

I'm certain Barkley would. Especially because Moyes is now Manchester united boss and is the man who gave him his big break.
This is a bit of a myth according to Everton fans. There was one in the newbies who said that Moyes didn't give Barkley much chances since his debut.

Didn't Barkley have a serious injury which hampered his chances at the start of a season (maybe 2 or 3 seasons ago). I remember Moyes cutting a pretty sorry interview about it.

He had a lot of injury problems. One serious one that I think you're referring to, just can't remember what it was.

Think he broke his leg? Pre-season or perhaps an under (insert age here) England game?

It's not that easy, Utd without European football and even with Moyes as a headcoach represents an opportunity in a player's life that won't often come knocking. Plus Barkley has already worked with Moyes many things point to him being potentially interested in joining Utd.

We are going to be squeezed dry regardless. Our midfield is horrendous. Obvious problem = being squeezed.

Imagine if we come knocking at his door and tell him it's either now or we go for someone else. It'll be a tough choice for the lad, that's for sure.

As much as I'd love him I think he'd really benefit from at least one more season at Everton under Martinez.

Everton will make a fortune on Barkley and McCarthy in the next few years.
