Ross Barkley

I think it's far too premature to mention the likes of Hughes, Powell and Barkley in that way. They've still a very long way to go yet and shouldn't be in the Wilshere bracket just yet.

True although Barkley does look a very promising player.

Too late I think. Having bent over backwards for £27 million Fellaini I shudder to think what Everton will be asking for Barkley. It'll be well over £30 million though

He does that. His decision making isnt that good... But he's so talented. When he develops and makes more right choices he's going to be a fantastic player

He's still a long way from being good enough for us. Tries to do much and needs to learn when to release the ball and when to drive at defenders. His passing is another aspect he can improve upon.

Talent is there though

I hope we are in for him if and when he moves. We always need to be in for the top British talent and I believe he is in that category.

Glad it's happening for him this year, after having a couple of setbacks. Showed his maturity by still offering something when really really tired in the final third too, glides across the pitch effortlessly for a big lad. Continues this form and he's gotta be a shoe in for the World Cup squad which is good, probably at Cleverlys loss, though maybe Cleverlys versatility will help him. Be nice if Rodwell can put his setbacks behind him and find some form despite stiff competition at City, actual young competition for spots is good, though knowing Lampard is blatantly going doesn't help anything.

Moyes definitely would sell Kagawa and get him. Only way I'd allow Kagawa being shifted though. Barkley+Shaw next summer, get in.

Showed a lot of potential tonight, his decision making wasn't great at times, but that'll come.

Another year and he might be United ready. Not bad for a mere Everton player.

Agree with this. Very talented but some are getting a little carried away here.

It's also worth noting that he's looked good I'm every single game he has played this season, even for England.

There's no doubting his potential, he'll probably be a star but he has a long way to go. His decision making is poor at the moment it has to be said, great balance and a lovely shot though.

He's more of a raw Rooney sort of talent than a polished Wilshere type talent in the sense that he has the odd clumsy touch and can try too much himself, but he has bags of technique/awareness/intelligence. All he needs to do is mature.

He's fearless and doesn't care who he's playing against. His technique is fantastic. Should thrive playing for Martinez. Finding a position to suit him best will be the key. You'd want him using burst of pace he's got coming from midfield, so centre of a midfield 3 in probably the way forward. I assume Barry and Osman/McCarthy will be sitting players and then he will be in front of that.

Far from the finished article. Like others have said, he can be sloppy at times and make poor decisions but you can't discount not only his talent but his competitiveness. The kid is not intimidated, there's swagger to his game. We'll see how hard a worker he is but he's a genuine talent

true, he was wasteful in possession and make some wrong decisions.
but it was the first time i saw this lad and was amazed.
The talent is there. Let's get him
Talent is there to be fair Jim.

So talented. Only a matter of time before the big clubs come calling for him. We might have the inside track since its Moyes who nurtured him and brought him through.

Would be very odd if our future midfield is Fellaini and Barkley. Who would have thought everton would provide us with our future midfield!

It looked like he was trying to do too much but to me the match today was more a case of Barkley often being the furthest player forward on his side, or with just Jelavic in front of him and Mirallas+Naismith usually starting deeper than him before making their runs, so he had to take the creative initiative with little support. He probably did overdo a few things but it's normal for a impactful attacking player to do that. He was also up against Chelsea's midfield and didn't have Pienaar or Gibson to share the responsibility for making things happen. Looks really talented obviously.

Saw something on another site about Barkley being linked with the Rent Boys. He should stay at Everton for a while and establish himself before he thinks about moving on. He wouldn't get much playing time at Chelsea, or even at United come to that. Looks like a good prospect though.

You lot really need to calm down. He looks like a decent talent with a long way to improve, but showing a lot of good qualities at this point. Does he have the quality to play for top clubs? Who knows but, evidence so far points to probably not.

Is he that good a talent? Looks a pretty good dribbler and strong to me but I'm not seeing a supreme technician or great passer nor someone , like young Rooney, who has goals.

I think his vision for a pass is definitely there. I haven't seen enough of him myself to say whether he has enough technically to pull off all the things he attempts, but he seems intelligent and creative just based on his intentions when he receives the ball. Receives it, turns and looks for a forward pass... that's definitely something Wilsheresque about him.

Agreed, he's not ready for a bigger team......with a midfield depth. He'd be like third choice for United.

A lot worse would have been said about Fellaini shortly after he moved to Everton

Hasn't he been playing as a number 10, or atleast as the most advanced of a midfield 3?

Most advanced of a 3 yeah, certainly deeper than Fellaini was last year

Sign him. Sign him now. He's gunna be fecking brilliant

His talent is as obvious as it gets. You're quite simply wrong if you don't think he'll be good enough for a top side.
