Doom-monger obsessed with Herrera & the M.E.N.
It might be worth it to see the look Ronaldo gives Wayne if he fluffs his lines. He is if we don't get Morata. Rooney and Ronaldo up front. Like old times.

Because we're better off without his services. Why pay him off in a lump sum when we can pay him off over 12 months and still have use of his (limited, granted) services?
It's called business sense.
He's also wasting £250k p/w of our wage budget, and also a space in our squad. He can be as fit as he wants, he's lost the ability to control a football adequately. Technically he is miles behind most of the squad now, and he looked out of depth playing with our U21s v Palace. His decision making has completely disappeared (which is surprising really, how does that disappear with diminishing physical ability?).I was surprised to see this news that he wants to stay and fight for his place. But if that's what he wants to do, fair enough, he is going into it with his eyes wide open so there will be no surprises if he doesnt make the team, he took it with humility last season so no reason to expect different next. He says he is going to work his arse off over the summer and be super fit for the start of the season, which kind of begs the question why was he not doing that in previous seasons? But yeah, if he can fight his way back into the team on merit, good on him. If he ends up wasting another one of the few years he has left in him sitting on the bench rather than actually playing it will be kind of sad, but if the guy doesnt like the idea of moving to the US or China then that's his choice.
edited - too muchYep, it would cost us less to pay him off and be shot of him
I understand that but he is legally entitled to that wage for the remainder of his contract. So if he wants to stay and collect it and not get picked there's not much we can do about it. More fool us for offering him this contract in the first place. He's also wasting £250k p/w of our wage budget, and also a space in our squad. Its time for him to go and he needs to realise that. This isn't just last season, it's the last 3 or 4.
He'll miss out on it anyway. He'll almost certainly miss out on the England squad for 2018 if he stays.
It would cost us less to shoot him
Not funny. Probably report worthy as well.It would cost us less to shoot him
Frogie always could tell when a player was on the way down.We should have sold him to Chelsea in 2013.
Sorry. A tasteless pun based on "be shot of him", never heard that expression beforeNot funny. Probably report worthy as well.

and a huge bank balance for him, his family, grandkids, great grandkids, dog, cats, etcIf he sees out that final year of his ridiculous contract without getting a look in it will be the most undignified end to a footballing career at the top level.
He's staying because nobody wants him.
I hope United strip him off the captaincy by end of June, so he feels humiliated enough and tries to find offers.
Not even a vice-captaincy, with Jose giving an explanation that he is looking for a leader for long term.
If that doesn't get him out, nothing else will.
Of course they would. What's the point of having an inanimate turd as a captain?I highly doubt Mourinho or anyone within the club would even consider doing that.
The could keep him as club captain, but have a team captain. No good having a captain and vice-captain who will rarely be on the pitch.I highly doubt Mourinho or anyone within the club would even consider doing that.
That's the most likely scenario. Even though he's pissing me off, I think having him as club captain would be the right way to go.The could keep him as club captain, but have a team captain. No good having a captain and vice-captain who will rarely be on the pitch.
