Is Rooney done at the required level?

I wonder if hair loss medication has ruined him. I know that sounds ridiculous but if you look into it, it's really not that crazy. For some people it effects them mentally and physically as it lowers DHT which is a powerful androgen hormone. For people who have bad side effects from it, it's like the opposite of taking steroids. Some say they are weaker in the gym and can't think as effectively. Rooney has looked physically and mentally different for a few years now. He declined so quickly at a young age. He's not like Michael Owen who had some terrible injuries. Rooney seems to have lost his touch, it's as if his focus is no longer there.
Now you say that, it does make sense. He was at his Best when he was bald. Ever since then he's slowly regressed. Now he's had Botox and it's even worse.

Really do think that could have something in it.

If a journo wants a story they should get an interview with nani, rvp or kagawa and ask them straight up about Rooney's influence. They might get an interesting story out of it.

Has been for years Fergie knew it, left it on a silver platter for Moyes, what that prick do give him a 300k 5 year contract

Would any premier league club take him in their starting 11? Serious question. I can't see him sticking out at any club, even shite like Hull, Burnley or Sunderland. Actually I can't even see him standing out if he played in the championship, he'd just be a standard player. He is fecking terrible, and that's no exaggeration. Watch if he plays against Northampton. Will stand out for how bad he is even against that level opposition.

His technique is brutal. Can't control a ball to save his life, nor can he pass. His fitness is also terrible. Runs for 10 minutes and can barely close anyone down anymore. Slow, weak, overweight, and just lacks focus and doesn't know how to do anything. He looks about 40 years old on the pitch, not someone who should age wise be just about leaving his prime.
Only chance people take him is for media publicity. He has MLS all over him.

I think Wenger warned about that stuff a few years ago.

Yep, here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...g-medication-for-non-footballing-reasons.html

“If you lose your hair and if you’ve taken something to make your hair grow it might not be good especially for the rest of your body.

"Medication always pushes a part of your body and is sometimes detrimental to other parts of your body.

The OP states the obvious. Over 200 fecking responses for less an hour. Why

It's not even like the good MLS players though. Some players go to the mls and you can tell they used to be class. He'll go there and probably struggle as there is nothing good about him left over.

He was so poor today even his defenders can't find the excuses for him.

That's how staggeringly bad he was today. How many goals does he need to break the record? He might have to rely on penalties in the Europa League or League cup.

He is way past is sell by date and starting to stink. Rooney doing something crap in a game just seems the norm now, sadly you expect it to happen. Pretty much the opposite of what you expect from you 300k captain. He is consistently shit. All the physical aspects of his game that made him a top players seem to be gone.

It's striking how weak he is on the ball these days. He takes a touch to get the ball out of his feet, gets pressed by the opposition, and gets fecking shoved about. He should retire, honestly.

Dont put this on Moyes. At that point most of the fanbase wanted him not to go to Chelsea and him signing the contract was seen as one of the positives under Moyes at that time.

Even if it was Moyes fault, LVG and Mourinho must have seen plenty of him to see he is finished in the past three years. Yet, you have to wonder why he hasnt been moved on...

See, it's not that plays shit and we all see it. His stats are beyond horrible.

I will never understand how managers keep picking him.

Pisses me off how he spends most of his time trying to referee the game and he doesn't even lay into the other underperformers like a captain should because how can he? He's just as bad as them, if not worse.

His time is up, yes. Even the odd glimpse of quality is too few and far between these days.

I also think he knows it. Sod all this 'I've nothing to prove' bollocks. That's why last season he's asked to play further and further back where he thinks it'll be easier for him to cope. Only he hasn't been able to.

Been a top player for us over a long period but those days have now passed. Hopefully Mourinho wakes up to that and quickly.

I said before the season started that I think Mourinho might have a play in mind for Rooney and I'm hoping that is still the case: He knows full well that he can't just come straight in and kick Rooney straight out, he's got to let him play himself out of the team which is exactly what he's doing.

I think he'll be disappointed that the team didn't fire against Feyenoord as it would have been good ammo for continuing to marginalise him. The more he plays Rooney and the more Rooney plays like this, the easier his job of marginalising him is going to be.

Who would have him now?
Would he fancy China or the US?
Who else can we blame?

Most of the reaction on here was incredulousness that we didn't take the Mata+cash swap deal that was offered.

I doubt any of them would expose Rooney.
The cabal of lazy Journos who work for the nationals wouldn't. But if you work for someone like Buzzfeed or bleacher sports it would be the sort of story that put you on the map

But how much damage are we expecting to take before José can say now is the time to drop him?

Well some of us thought the same about van Gaal, who also had a history of fecking off underperforming stars. Hope you're right though.

Who would have him now? Doesnt really matter does it...If hart could be moved on, so could Rooney.
Would he fancy China or the US? Couldn't care less.
Who else can we blame? I would say LVG and Mou now... Because, like I said, at that time (Moyes), Him regressing this bad was 50/50.

It's quite possible he is doing this, but I'd be kind of pissed off if so...because ultimately a top manager needs to make bold, ruthless decisions, and if Mourinho truly believes Rooney's good enough then he should not be playing. I understand the stuff about Rooney's influence but Guardiola's been able to walk into City and give Hart the punt without a moment's notice.

Dont know anymore...cant say i am Rooney hater just cant wrap around my head how a professional player can have a first touch of a tree and is on similar crossing level as Bebe.

Think the hate for him is more caused because of his post match interviews, media shielding him, pundits like Scholes protecting him and managers not being able to drop him. The worse he looks, chance of being undroppable going higher and higher,so people loosing their shit.

Ferguson's genius was he knew when players were finished no matter how big a player was. He dropped him from some really important games because he knew Rooney was declining. That was 4 years ago.
We keep buying number 10s and neglecting a ball playing cm for some reason and shoehorn him around the first 11 which baffles me to say the least especially with Jose's comments of, "he will never play in midfield for me"
Today he was like another man for Watford.
