Is Rooney done at the required level?

If he thought that he wouldn't say 'I have nothing to prove' or announce his international retirement two years in advance.

Yes I know. I'm talking about literally in the last few games it is starting to hit home for him.

Why people listen to Phil Neville? He is a total idiot who once was an average player for us.

What a bunch of blind, biased idiots with their tongues so far up Wayne's arsehole they can lick his kidneys. Makes me livid listening to such crap even Hull with there 12 fecking fit players would've dropped him by now.

You have to laugh. He deserves credit for playing. That's what it has come to, looking for positives from his performance and all you can come up with is he was willing to play.

You don't know how tough it is, doing a job, for a salary.

caller just roasted the MUTV pundits for defending Rooney and rightly so. Their argument is that he is a great servant for the club so therefore we should not write him off. that doesn't make any sense. in the now he's want and should be benched

He really is declining pretty fast isn't he? From PL average to pub player in just one season.

He can't pass, shoot or cross and the ball just seems to bounce off him.

I think he was pretty poor last year but the whole team was so slow it wasn't that noticeable. Now we've got better players and are at least trying to play at a faster pace so he sticks out more.

"He's not a midfielder. He's a #10."
"He's not a #10. He's a striker."
"I know he started up front, but if Rooney wants to play in midfield he plays in midfield."
"Changing his position all the time is doing him no favours."

It's like straight out of a comedy sketch.

Exactly what I was going to say: "Rooney should play because he can play anywhere". "Moving him around too much will hurt his performances".

Actually making my anxiety flare up watching him give the ball away, miscontrol it and generally just be fecking shite and yet still plays a full 90 minutes.

What the feck has he got on this club that means we can't just stop playing him? It must be something huge because it's beyond ridiculous. Makes me angry just thinking about it.

I genuinely don't want to watch us if he's on the pitch.

Oh if Rooney starts against Leicester this place is going to go nuts. If he continues to start we seriously need a Wayne Rooney out banner flown over Old Trafford.

Mourinho is giving him enough rope... Rooney has pretty much tied the noose this week.

Just watched that too. Completely agreed with the caller. The red tinted glasses these pundits wear really need to be erased. He was shocking once again.

Sammy McIlroy got really upset didn't he. The guy was right though.

Nobody said Rooney wasn't the problem, they were just tired of seeing people slag off our captain all the time when other players were also poor, and he did produce the goods from time to time. His confidence seems completely shot now, as if his mind is no longer in it, so the decline is suddenly more noticeable.
No he hasn't, scoring the odd goal isn't producing the goods, I'm confident I'd get the occasional tap in if I played you top for Untied and could do whatever the feck I wanted. He's been shot for years.

I've thought about that too, it would be incredibly sad but we've come to the point where that wouldn't be that ridiculous

Not red tinted glasses, Rooney tinted glasses. He's detrimental to the team, and, at this stage, playing Rooney is probably detrimental to Rooney himself.

Nobody wanting to change their vote? I'm starting to like the theory that Mourinho is letting him play himself out pf the first XI. He did say he wanted goals from Rooney, and this was anything but. He could have had three in the 25 mins I watched of the first half. Captain of Ingurland indeed..

Mourinho said three times in a row that he wanted goals from Rooney and Rooney responded by missing the target from six yards out and spending the rest of the game fannying about in midfield.

He fecked his job up so badly it almost looked intentional.

Rather than everyone repeatedly saying how poor he is playing how about reasons as to why this may be?

He's only 30 and does have an intelligent football brain. He's also a winner with plenty of drive and determination so what's gone wrong with the rest of his game and why?

His touches are heavy and he is regularly the weak link in the breakdown of our moves. Even his shooting is weak. Literally everything falling apart for him.

He's just lacking confidence, pace, balance, stamina, focus, fitness and intelligence. Other than that I struggle to see what's wrong with him.

Give him a bit of time and I'm confident he'll turn the corner (about 5 minutes should do it)
