Silent domination from a few of us to be fair. We were told to shut up and understand Rooney wasn't the problem but there you go.
Nobody said Rooney wasn't the problem, they were just tired of seeing people slag off our captain all the time when other players were also poor, and he did produce the goods from time to time. His confidence seems completely shot now, as if his mind is no longer in it, so the decline is suddenly more noticeable.

This week he's failed to score (or even play moderately well) in all three of the positions he can be selected for. Definitely one step closer to him being gone, which can only be a positive.

The rest of the team should stop passing the ball to him. Seriously, just let him shamble around the pitch without touching the ball once and we'll do better.

Mourinho should even instruct them to do this. When does Rooney's contract run out again?

If we are going to do that, what's the point of starting him?

There was a period literally the same as this last season, and I'm pretty sure the caf was the same as well. He goes in cycles of being shit, unbelievably shit, average and bagging a goal then back to shit. Then he'll get an injury around Christmas.

I remember last year was the beginning of the mass dicontent towards Rodney, but he still had aot of supporters. He`d score a goal after 5 games, and everyone would be like "Rooneys back", "He always needs one goal fro his confidence and now he`ll goo on a scoring run"

Its funny no other foreign player would get th amount of leeway he has for his perfromances. I think for me what compounds it even more is just the sheer astronomical wages, being undroppable. And the frustration that hes on wages of Messi and Ronaldo levels, and yet the productivity is literally nothing in return

He's a Manchester United legend in every regard, but his time is up. Players need to be moved on and he is one of them.

Yes he's captain but Zlatan could be Captain given his experience.

And that's against poor opposition. His time time should be up.

I wonder what his influence among the other players actually is for him to be so bulletproof and immune to getting dropped.

Horrible to watch him starting week in all out for us . The guy looked out of his depth tonight against Northampton.

If he loves Everton so much surely he must know the only way he could ever pay for them again is if he leaves now rather than a few seasons time..

They're doing their best not to discuss him on Sky. Not a single question about how crap he was so far.

He really is declining pretty fast isn't he? From PL average to pub player in just one season.

He can't pass, shoot or cross and the ball just seems to bounce off him.

My anger has turned into pity. I mean. He is so finished it's not even funny anymore. I feel actually sorry for him. His body just isnt responding anymore.

I felt a little like that tonight too. Before the game I felt anger to even see his name on the team sheet but watching him I started to feel sorry for him. I think even he himself must becoming to the realisation he isn't good enough anymore. Until recently I still think in his own mind he believed he was still a great player.

Phil Neville expects Rooney to start and says he's still an important first team player.

If he thought that he wouldn't say 'I have nothing to prove' or announce his international retirement two years in advance.

Phil Neville basically says Rooney was shit tonight but it's good he got out there for 90 minutes and needs to start for United every game.

What about those that are tired of seeing people throwing every other player under the bus in a desperate attempt at defending said captain? It's not suddenly more noticeabld, he's been done for a period that has been extended to several years now. Maybe the criticism from the media are finally opening the eyes of his most stubborn defenders but this not a form or confidence thing.

Neville is an idiot. Rooney is done. He must be dropped, there's no debate about it.

Phil Neville's worried that constantly changing his position might affect his performances.

More excuses from that bellend Neville for Captain Fantastic.

If he plays in Saturday we will really have to question the managers ability.

"Next up, we ask Wayne Rooney's mum for an objective answer on the state of her son's game"

Odd that ruthless men in football circles are so willing to ruin their professional credibility for the sake of calling out a mate.

Neville knows fine well that he's chatting shite.

"He's not a midfielder. He's a #10."
"He's not a #10. He's a striker."
"I know he started up front, but if Rooney wants to play in midfield he plays in midfield."
"Changing his position all the time is doing him no favours."

It's like straight out of a comedy sketch.
