My bad...Rooney pissed me off that much that game I completely avoided this thread so I wouldn't have a meltdown.

I feel for you, here's the worst bits:

I just still can't fathom how he has turned to complete shit. For a professional footballer playing at the level he's playing at for the money he does and to play like that, he's technically so shit now too. I can't remember any recent time he did anything remotely spectacular.

I have never wanted a Manchester United player to leave the club as much as I want Wayne Rooney to.

Just 4. He'll get a few penalties to limp towards the record just like he did for England.
Couple of tap ins and a hat trick against Liverpool. Leave in January a legend.

I've never seen a poll that was lopsided. 891/946 think he is done. If all of us, why can't the managers ( 5. Yes 5 - Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Hodgson, Big Sam) see that? I've never been frustrated by a Man Utd player this much ever and that includes Young, Fellaini and the great Bebe. He is still a legend for us, but not enough to stay in the team. Time to move on. If the rumours are true, Mourinho will be dropping him for the next game and I can see our performances increase dramatically after that.

Don't count on it. We're a terrible footballing side.

Would you rather we drop Rooney, re-organise the team and ultimately be improved and successful? or keep Rooney in the team, plod along like we have been doing and have a similar season to the last 3?

Honestly?

It might look that way, but actually we aren't. Just one game, without him on the field and see what happens. He is an hindrance to the team. He cannot touch, shoot and don't even ask about motivation. All he can do is go and shout at the referees ( I actually think referees are letting him go very easily). When he is on the field, it's not even like we are playing with 10 players, it's like playing with 9 people.

You see this is where he is only tainting his legacy now. You'd think also that if a player declined that much that they'd save face and drop down a level to another club.

I mean, surely he's come to terms with the fact that he's been average for a while now? He should've left 3 years ago.

I'm having doubts if he'll reach it. His best chance is games like tomorrow or early Fa cup or europa league games, as those games are more his level while he is useless in the premier league.

Also probably a matter of time before the papers use our poll as data to back up fans wanting him out

I've already said in the Rooney thread that I want him dropped for this weekend. I still don't think we'll play much better football without him though.

3 years. Goes to 2019. We'd owe him around £40M I think if we cancelled his contract. Don't know if any penalties and such are included - it could be more.
Unbelievable. Thank you David fecking Moyes.

We need to pray for a bloody miracle from China in January.

At least give the team a chance for a good stretch before you come to the conclusion that we'll be definite shit. I agree, one game won't necessarily show anything, but you need to give it a chance. It's only fair no? Rooney's had many many many many many chances - surely his teammates deserve at least a quarter of that?

Very true. It is really sad to him to go this way. Although, I think he needs to take two steps down, not one. Do you really think clubs like Everton or Southampton would take him? I seriously doubt it.

Papers are so quick in picking rubbish things. Actual fact, they take time.

Damn. This is my last post for the day.

Really? Bloody hell I should be a journalist - all I have to do is hang out on fans forums:lol:

He will never go to China. Far too provincial and Colleen wouldn't like it I don't think. MLS at a stretch but the problem is he won't want to be out of sight out of mind as he still wants to be England captain and go to the next World Cup. So the best bet for that is to play 'closer' to home. Thing is, no top team will want him and no one else can afford his wages.

I think it'll be a start! And the fact that we'll be playing players in their actual favoured positions (I hope). Hell I don't even known what kind of player Wayne is anymore. It infuriated me that Herrera wasn't starting against Watford.

For sure, especially as he hadn't done too badly the match before. It's crazy right now, I just want a coherent team first of all - a system that suits the players we have and the right players in their correct positions. Forget tactics right now - just do the basics well. A little organisation and working hard for each other on the field - that for me would be a good start.

We do need to go back to basics. Herrera has done very well and Schneiderlin when called upon in the Feyenoord game put in a decent performance too. Fair enough, if in january we decide to go for a DM or CM that can dictate a game better then by all means do it but in the mean time let's play a fecking functional midfield.

Sick of him.

So so sick of him and the saddest part is its the on field performances that have driven me to this. All the leaks all the crap before about wanting to leave an utter disgrace of a player. He doesnt deserve to take the goal tally off aman as admireable and a legend as Sir Bobby who will forever be the best goalscorer this club has ever had despute this potato aquiring enough goals to statistically beat him.

I hope and pray that Jose has the balls. The power and arrogance to put this dog down and end the rot that has infected the dressing room at OT. do it now before the season gets too deep and maybe we can actually play on transitions.

Whose quotes got in the Star? Bastards... why not mine?

I think Rooney is finished and the Daily Star is a really good paper. I read it every day and always have a pull to the page 5 girl.

If this pans out as I hope, his only options will be to feck off to China/the MLS or rot in our reserves like Bastian.

I still think Rooney is a good player. His best days are definitely behind him but folk go overboard with the criticism, IMO. He has been no worse than Pogba this season. In fact, he's been better. If it were Pogba that assisted Rashford at Hull every one of you would've been going crazy and wouldn't have shut up about it. You could probably count on one hand the amount of times he's actually been played in his best/natural position in the past few years. His selflessness has ruined his career and has ensured his legs are about 5 years older than the rest of his body.

That isn't a defence of his performances which obviously haven't been of a good enough standard but that sure as hell doesn't apply to only Rooney.

The irony of bemoaning players being played out of position to accommodate Rooney. I remember him being played in places like left mid under Ferguson.

Not many (if any) of those guys were sold or misused because of a persistence to stick with Rooney. Hernandez is awful. He's a good poacher but that's it. Clearly not good enough of for MU and the arrival of guys like RVP is probably what ended his United career rather than anything to do with Rooney.

You know the barrel is being scraped when folk are bringing up Falcao to slag off Rooney

When was Nani (a winger) ever played out of position to accommodate Rooney given that in doing so it'd clearly also be playing Rooney out of position?

Kagawa was wasted under Ferguson hence why he failed at United. Again nothing to do with Rooney.

ADM was being told to play right on the touchline by LVG. I can remember games like away to West Brom on MNF where he was basically in row A of the stands and Rooney didn't even play!

:wenger:

Mourinho came out and said Rooney will only be played as a striker. This was a good move.

He's basically said, you either play well in 9 or 10 or you're out of the team. In comparison LVG said you either play well in 9 or 10 or I'll move you into the midfield.

I think he is currently giving him 1 big chance to play well. He's playing him in arguably his favourite and best position and he's playing terribly.

I expect Jose to move him on very soon.

The frustration on the Caf is that we've seen this trial before with 2 other managers. We know what the outcome will be. But Mourinho for political reasons feels he needs to give Rooney a chance under his management to succeed before shipping him out.

It would have been amicable to sell him for an undisclosed fee back in the summer. It could have been cited as a new manager with a new system and no mention in the press about it being because he has been Space Jam'd

I posted this on another thread but its locked now. Here is how I feel about rooney.

Some of us are still in denial but I would like to believe that the majority of us can now see that our long serving captain is finished at the top level. His decline has snuck up on most of us.
It is kind of like how most fathers never acknowledge that their daughters are growing into women, until one day some guy comes to ask for the daughters hand in marriage. At that moment you can normally see it in the fathers face. The acceptance that the daughter in no longer his little girl any more but a woman now. ( I know it's a wierd analogy for a Rooney thread but bear with me)

For me, the moment I knew he was finished was last year under LVG. Rooney is up top, Martial does his magic cutting in from the left and plays a killer pass to Rooney. Rooney lets the ball run across him on purpose. You know why he did it. His mind knows what it want to do. But his body just lets him down. So as the ball runs across him he starts after it. But soon he realizes he is not fast enough anymore. You can see the panic in his face as he races after this ball like a rhino and the frustratrion as he fails to catch up to it. Thats when I knew and I was a little sad for him.

Yeah, that lasted about 4 matches. He was essentially a midfielder against Watford until he got moved out wide.
