He is absolutely way too comfortable, lazy and entitled; both with England and at United:
Rooney: "I want to finish my career at Man United"

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he wants to finish his playing career at Manchester United after announcing he will retire from England duty in 2018.

The Red Devils forward confirmed his decision to stop playing for England in a press conference yesterday as the squad turned up for their first training session under new Three Lions boss Sam Allardyce.

Rooney, who is just four goals behind Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring record for United, has a contract until 2019 at Old Trafford and has told the club’s hierarchy that he wants to remain for the rest of his career.

“I’ve said to United I want to stay there, finish my career there. So it’s a case sitting down with United when the time’s right.

“I’ve still got three years left. When I speak to them, I’ll have a better idea. I hopefully want to finish my career at United.

“Going into the World Cup — hopefully we qualify! — the time will be right, it will be my 15th season playing for England, and in anyone’s terms it’s a long time, so I just felt the time would be right then.”

Rooney has ambitions to become a manager and is doing his badges in preparation for the end of his playing days.

“As a player, an experienced player, I know how to manage my body through training.

“I’m sure if I came here and said I felt a bit tired, I could have a day when I don’t have to train. Other players do it, so that wouldn’t be an issue.

“In the grand scheme of it, I love playing for my country, I feel I can still do it.

“I know if I stopped playing now, during this week I’d have two days at home, I’d be regretting it.

“The time will probably be right in two years, and hopefully I can enjoy the next two years, and do a bit better.

“I’d like to (go into management) of course. I’ve spent my whole life playing football and I think it would be a shame to walk away form it completely.

“I feel I’ve got a lot of experience behind me and when I do finish playing I would like to stay in the game at some level.

“I’m doing my badges – it’s a long time. But I’m doing it and I’m enjoying it. I’m just trying to get them done why I’m still playing really.”

This is a massive problem. I remember thinking after the England game earlier this month when Allardyce came out and said "I can't tell Rooney where to play and what to do" that he sounded like a man who didn't want to say "I've told Rooney what I want him to do but he did his own thing anyway".

Angry Rooney is the best Rooney, too bad those days have long gone. Now he's just entitled, lazy feck. I bet The only thing he cares now is his personal record.
Should've sold to City/Chelsea when we had a chance.

He’s a broken cog preventing a functioning machine from working. We have some higher spec, brand shiny new cogs in the store room. But instead of taking the broken cog out of the machine, we just move it somewhere else. The machine will never function at its optimum until the broken cog is removed from the machine and the shiny new high spec cogs are positioned within the machine.

We all know the machine isn’t running correctly and we have had 3 mechanics look at the machine and none of them have thought “lets try to take this cog out and run the machine for a while and see how she goes”.

Watch him score some dodgy goal tonight and cement his place in the first 11.

You tried turning it off and on again?

I seriously hope this is a BoyleSports wind up, mind:

He has scored 9 Goals since january 2015. He has been paid 25 million since then! What a FRAUD this guy is. The only contract that should have been written of is his. Then he has the audacity to leak things to the press. We are being held by our balls by him, There is no way he should be considered a united legend.

 Yep he's gettinng dropped. Not even for a League Cup game, this is ridiculous.

Fail to play him tonight or the weekend and the narrative would have been 'Mourinho caves to public/press pressure'. Rooney wants to go to war via the media? - fine. Ultimately, he's paid to play football, and while he keeps serving up his shite-on-a-stick performances each week, his position continues to weaken. Letting him play his way out of the team was always the smart move. Obviously this cannot go on indefinitely, but a couple more weeks of over-hit passes and bad touches probably lie ahead.

"Goals." He'd better score if he knows what's good for him

It's a no win situation for him. If he scores, "it's only Northampton." If he doesn't, then "he's so shit he can't even score against Northampton."

Phil Neville saying it's ridiculous to call him finished. Love how it's now a phrase that's out there.

It's a win-win for Jose, either Rooney somehow finds form and wins this match for Jose, or Jose just handed Rooney the final nail into his coffin. If Rooney can't do it even against Northampton...
