Rooney Charged: Faces Two Match Ban for cursing | Appeal lost

Is Enigma still raging his anti Nadal campaign?

Congrats on the cricket btw, great final.

Yeah he continues to talk crap when it comes to Nadal. Was moaning about even more medical time outs and injuries

Oh thanks! Was a brilliant tournament.

You also rubished the idea that he'd get charged. Then rubbished the idea they'd suspend him from games if they did.

He's been backtracking a lot!

Wonder what he'll say when the ban remains ;)

One thing I picked up from sky, this was an automatic 2 game ban because of the charge...I was under the impression they'd just decided to pluck 2 games out of the air.

I'm praying they see sense but it's highly unlikely from the feckwits.

Think p_s was referring to he won't get an extra game ban, not that the 2 game suspension will be completely lifted. Though when the charge was first announced he did say it would get overturned on appeal (implying no suspension at all).

I think we have a strong case here to get it reduced to a 1 game ban. We could handle that. If they see it as frivolous and increase it to 3 games then it proves their bias.

We will see.

Their bias has already been proven by the fact they even charged him for this.

We might as well face the fact it will end up three games.

And if I were United, I'd take this to the court system and tell FIFA to take a flying feck if they try to interfere. FA and FIFA need Manchester United far more than vice versa.

Rooney got away with the elbow a few weeks ago, so they have to show that they are not biased towards United. Rooney will be banned for no less the 2 games.

The FA's decision has been questioned by Professional Footballers' Association chief Gordon Taylor.

In a statement issued on the PFA website, Taylor said: "Whilst the use of foul and abusive language is not condoned, there is an acceptance by all parties within the game that 'industrial language' is commonly used.

"It becomes an issue when directed towards match officials. However, when used in a spontaneous way in celebration or frustration then it is not normally expected to merit a sanction.

"If sanctions are to be imposed in such circumstances then this has to be done in a balanced and consistent manner, and participants made aware of this fundamental change in approach."

Unfortunately, the PFA doesn't appear to be very strong unlike American player assocations/unions. For example, the MLBPA would destroy MLB over something similar.

They couldn't act on it because the ref had seen it, bias didn't come into it.

However this will be bias if they ban Rooney for 2 games whilst so many other players swear on the pitch and no-one bats an eyelid.

They'll word it cleverly so that it's justified and doesn't leave them having to ban other players in the future.

If they do ban Rooney then surely we should be sending the FA a message every time somebody looks like they are using abusive language in any of the televised games, regardless of who it was aimed at.
This could be a very bad president

its exactly because the ref saw it and still decided not to act on it, that people deemed it as biased.

Spot and indeed on (especially the last para)

So will the media go crazy about Crouch telling the ref to F*** off in front of all the children?!

I am fairy sure of two things, he said "fcuk off" and secondly, children don't watch Spur's play so even if he had said the bad word, it won't have been that bad.

Finally someone with a high profile in the game with the voice of reason:

Nice one Gordon Taylor.

VDV said it as well. I can't wait for them to be banned now. This should be fun.

Anyone who thinks City fan and ex chairman Bungstein will allow Rooney to play against his beloved bitters are being extremely naive.

I think your are wrong , you imply with your name change that he has taken bungs , do you know this ?

The chairman on the FA cant be allowed to let hgis love for one team cloud his judgement.
This is not a advert for the FA , I think the Rooney charge is bullshit , when ever I have seen David Bernstein I have always though him to be a fair man and talked a lot of sense.
