In the past he played 1 year at the highest level & the rest was a good player nothing special but fanboys will never accept this truth …. He isn’t a top 5 in our team history & would nevef be better than rooney

he is nothing but a selfish tw**** who only cares about himself just a stat padding

Those defending him in the media got paid for sure …..

Saying he chooses loyalty over man cuty is laughable considering the fact no big team wanted him at all
The fact that you're a Baca fan must have had a massive impact of this shite show of a statement.

Was idiotic of him to walk down the tunnel before the end (if he had any sense he would have said he needed the loo) but do I believe a story in the Daily Fail that he refused to come on as a sub, well you might as well ask if I believe the planet is flat or that Liz Truss understands the economy. For those who do believe that tsory, do you believe everything in the Mail or just the bits that suit you?

Do I think his time at United is now up? Yes. Do I think that is sad: of course. Do I think an in-form Ronaldo would be an asset: of course
I'm pretty sure there are other sources apart from the Mail saying that he refused to come on, I can't remember them, but they're further back in this thread I'm sure.

And I also think the fact the club has released a statement over this whole thing means that more than likely everything we have heard today about it is true. If it was simply him walking off with a few to go then there would be no need for a statement.

I am hoping he lets him rot in reserves. I would rather have Hugill or McNeil on bench. 19 is a good year to experience first team action and some minutes. At least they will play with all their hearts.

500k weekly in reserve ? how much would it cost to terminate his contract and when is his contract ending ?

Such as when he left after half time in the friendly. Or when he threw his toys out of the pram at Brentford. Or when he stands there like an immobile Orville the Duck.

Absolute pro.
Don't forget the time he flew back to Portugal last season instead of sitting on the bench when Rangnick told him he wouldn't be starting against City.

Yup.

It’s just all a bit sad. He’s an older player who thinks he’s better than United after what he achieved at Madrid.

He seems a very changed person from the lad here the first time round. I believe he still see’s himself playing for them and that is his problem.

It’s created a bitter person which is very sad after someone achieved what he has.

I’m pretty sure in the summer he wanted 110% the Real move again but they didn’t want him.

why did he left Madrid in the 1st place ? He and old fart had a fallout ?

I dunno maybe it was wage demands.

It’s been obvious ever since he left his idea was to prove again to them he’s good enough but Benzema’s form stopped his return.

Part of the reason his United return felt shallow.

His major problem trying to undermine ETH is he's not doing this from a position of strength.

He's been rubbish all season, his only notable contribution so far was admittedly a good goal vs Everton but other than that we might as well have not had him. His general performances have been bad, as they mostly were last season, but this year even his finishing has been poor.

We look better without him, our biggest wins this season have been without him.

Anyone not supporting ETH in this case can feck right off in my book and shouldn't even consider himself a United fan. The fecker tried to get a move all summer and when he realised no one was willing to pay what he asks for he returned late and unfit to our squad. The he unsurprisingly plays like shit and when he's rightfully dropped he fecks off early or even refuses to come on as a sub. How anyone can justify that is beyond me. I'd actually go and cancel his contract even if that means court proceedings. The Glazers better let some money go in January to get us a striker

Well, we already know there’ll be a few but they won’t come out and admit it directly. Rather trying to shift it onto the Glazers/Arnold somehow or try and excuse/justify his behavior.

Or whenever there's an off performance or dropped points they'll overamplify it to undermine ten Hag and canonize Ronaldo.

Lads, this is the fella who got arsey or didn’t celebrate when team mates scored. You didn’t have to do much more than scratch the surface to understand his focus or motivation. Which is great when the team is winning things. Doesn’t look so great when the team no longer players in service of you.

This you?

All the reports I've heard have said Ronaldo has been very good with the youngsters. Is what he did clever? far from it

I mean don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to make you look bad but stop with the PR drive. It's your own prerogative if you prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt but the rest of us don't need to continue catching strays just because we aren't willing to. People get called naïve drama queens for holding him accountable

this has all worked out perfectly for ten hag.
The amusing thing is Ronaldo has made Ten Hag's life quite easy.

I don't think Erik was ever in love with the idea of starting Ronaldo too often despite what he said in public. His actions as far as picking him tell their own story. He was at best willing to placate him to maintain squad morale and freshen things up. I think he's just a body to Erik ten Hag because he knows he's past it and former glories mean little in terms of tangible results on pitch. A body that can fill in while Martial is injured.

By acting like an idiot he just makes the decision making very easy, he can be left out with nobody really questioning his treatment of the player because it's now just a manager doing what a manager has to do. Theres no grey area, and it may hasten Ronaldo's leaving which is probably what the manager wanted anyway.

Exactly. Not only Ronaldo made it easy for Ten Hag to remove him from the team (or at least make him a 3rd choice striker, behind Martial and Rashford), but he also presented ETH with an opportunity to stamp his authority.

I have a feeling the team will be on fire tomorrow to show Ronaldo we are really a better team without him.

Not even him who wrote that. That's why it looks like an NPC speech. Lots of words and means feck all but politically correct.

I blame the Americans.
When did people start supporting players instead of clubs?
Don't know but I wish they'd all piss off. Sick and tired of a minority of fools constantly defending Ronaldo and putting him on a pedestal above United

Personally I think ETH will have wanted to drop Ronaldo as soon as he arrived, but wouldn't have wanted to risk the fan backlash being brand new in the job. Ronaldo's abilities have declined and he hardly endeared himself to the new management with his antics over the summer. ETH has eased him out in recent weeks and him storming off gives ETH the golden ticket to relegate him to the reserves.

Best thing that could have happened this - because now the rest of them know ETH is the one at the helm and he wont let a situation like this stink the place out. We let arseholes like Pogba ride roughshod over any kind of discipline before and its cost us dearly. Ronnies tested the water and been scalded.

Tantrum?

He isnt 4 ffs.

Also repeating Scholes story to justify this is just. Silly.

Nar, I think @Rob Bowman makes a good point here. Sometimes egos get the better of even the most humble players & result in them acting unprofessionally.
Ronaldo was acting a knob with a bruised ego, just as Scholes did back then.
Big difference is that Scholes was in his prime and more “justified”, thought still shocking behaviour mind, he and gaffer had to work things out. I think at this stage, ETH likely can’t wait till Jan to move on.

Arteta did something similar with ozil who was on big wages, sometimes taking a hit on wasted wages is for the good of laying down the right foundations for the future

Not only silly but just plain stupid. Scholes didn't make an ostentatious display of defiance and petulance. Ronaldo publically disrespected his teammates and manager, and doesn't think he did anything wrong, apparently, because the tripe his PR team put out wasn't an apology.

The parallels aren't there, but it isn't surprising to see the Ronaldo fanboys engage in whataboutism.

This is exactly what I think. The example this sets to the likes of Rashford, Maguire, Bruno and others who have big egos and think they should be playing regardless is massive.

If Ronaldo is getting disciplined and has to follow the manager, no other player can get away with it, Its a huge statement from the manager and the club that no one player is bigger than the club.

In the past, we have had people say it but actions have not followed. Ronaldo went to portugal when he was dropped by Ralf, played the next game.

Yeah, Ronaldo has done similar things 4 or 5 times now since he came back.

We all know that all he is bothered about is his CL goals record, that is why he wants a club in the CL. While Messi is still playing at PSG he will not go to MLS. It has become a unhealthy obsession for him as it is stopping him being a team player. Messi likes scoring goals, but he will also link up with the likes of Neymar and Mbappe for them to score.

Wait til we hear all the ex players say how disrespectful this is.
Just listened to Lee Sharpe on Talksport and he was happy ETH was laying down the law and that it has been needed. Said it showed if you step out of line you will get punished no matter if you are a kid or the biggest name. He didn't play with him though, the ones who did are the big problem. You wonder how they would react if they still did play with him and he was behaving like this.

Yeah agreed. Those are the ones I meant. Neville and Rio don't surprise me, but I've been very surprised by Keane. Interested to hear his take now.

Exactly. Some of the players who lined up with him see his longevity as the light of youth and can't handle seeing it fade. Take a step back Rio and Scholes, you were the best players in your position in the world and you were in the greatest team for a time... if not for bloody Messi coming along with Xavi and Inesta.
