Such as when he left after half time in the friendly. Or when he threw his toys out of the pram at Brentford. Or when he stands there like an immobile Orville the Duck.

Absolute pro.
Yes. It's remarkable he acted so professional up until now. Kudos to him.

You're right we shouldn't believe everything. Does Daily Mail have a source for that in the club, I mean that he refused to be subbed in?
Do you for instance believe he missed preseason for personal issues?
Do I believe losing a child could/would break anyone? Let's hope no one here has to find out

It’s just all a bit sad. He’s an older player who thinks he’s better than United after what he achieved at Madrid.

He seems a very changed person from the lad here the first time round. I believe he still see’s himself playing for them and that is his problem.

It’s created a bitter person which is very sad after someone achieved what he has.

I’m pretty sure in the summer he wanted 110% the Real move again but they didn’t want him.

Even if we were to take this as the reason for how he’s acted (I’m still giving him the benefit of the doubt on the pre season tour), how would it explain the previous 20 years of behaviour that fits perfectly with what he’s doing now?

Maybe it was cause of that and one would totally understand it. Its just strange him missing preseason coincided with his agent offering him all around to whoever want to take him.

What he doesn't understand is that a huge portion of the fanbase is still absolutely in love with him, and he doesn't even need to score every game for that to continue. All he has to do is accept that it's coming to an end. be a part of the team, be the leader he should be now, accept a limited role, give everything on the pitch when he's played and behave well with his teammates.

The crowd will be chanting his name regardless of his goal return.

Reading that statement again - what a joke it is. Absolutely ridiculous. Says nothing at all. Takes 0 responsibility, doesn't apologize, just makes it all about him. Hope he never plays again for United.
It's a statement, not an apology. He needed a seriously big apology.

Don't forget the time he flew back to Portugal last season instead of sitting on the bench when Rangnick told him he wouldn't be starting against City.

@OpenIntrovert sorry, but you're talking out of your arse. No one here is abusing him FFS - people are bored of him mistreating the club they support, which pays him several hundred thousands pounds a week to at the very least behave like a professional and have some respect for the badge. The fact you are enamoured by his Instagram post is great. Not everyone else is, though, and it's pretty shitty of you to get so flustered at the fact that not everybody else sees it your way. Calling for the mods to 'do something about it' is just ridiculous.

Some cult like reactions popping up in places. These people are so subservient to a guy who doesn’t even care they exist.

Well he does and he will, he might even play a big part between now and the end of the season and then we can boot him out.
Also a big chance he tries to force a move in January, just like he did in the summer. There's only a few games left now until the World Cup, seeing as he's got himself banned for the next game. Why keep him around if he's going to behave in a way that is detrimental to the rest of the team?

Elite athletes have often said coming to terms with the fact that they are no longer what they were is one of the most difficult things an athlete can face, psychologically.
What we are seeing is a player struggling with the fact that he's just not that anymore.

Because we need goals and despite all his tantrums he’s still capable of putting the ball in the back of the net. If we can find a quality replacement then he goes tomorrow but I seriously doubt we can in January

Player tantrums are tantrums to be handled by the manager regardless of age or salary. Stop trying to make Ronaldo sound like he is the only one who does this.
Of course not, he isn't special. And doesn't justify special treatment. Think about how the manager should deal with behaviour from any other player. And then consider why Ronaldo did what he did (not for the first time, mind).

A supposed leader and role model... In the words of Keane, "do me a favour..."

That might be one of the worst, most self absorbed and empty statements in an effort to make piece with a fan base that I've ever read from a footballer.

The thing is, he's only capable of playing his way. Ten Hag has got us playing in a play style which Ronaldo doesn't fit into. When Ronaldo does play, we completely go to pot and just spam balls into him, which he no longer has the physicality or dynamism to make the most of. Which means he'll predominantly be a bench player, and we know how that goes. It's a recipe for disaster.

Ronaldo simply can't handle the fact that he's getting old.

I'm not trying to justify Ronaldo's behavior. I don't think what he did was right. But can we for a second humanize this sport and understand that a person reacted in a bad manner because he wanted to contribute. On a daily basis we make mistakes, and they are forgiven, because we are not in the public spotlight. This was not any different.

Reacted in a bad way because he wanted to contribute, by refusing to contribute? makes sense i suppose.

Zlatan. Somehow, all these players have a link with us. Its like we were a melting pot of bad behavior.

To be fair, I think Zlatan has exhibited a minimum level of professionalism when he was with us. I couldn't recal him throwing a tantrum openly, refusing to come on or left earlier before match ended. He is just a high ego person who likes the limelight but still toe the line carefully required as a professional player.

He is capable, he just doesn’t want to, that’s why he’s a pain in the arse. He’s chasing all time records, he isn’t interested in running himself into the ground for an assist when he can get two tap ins instead.

Not much has changed, he ended last season quite strong and there’s no way he’s all of a sudden finished over the length of a preseason. At his age however, he needs to be playing regularly to stay fit and sharp, it’s much hard to keep that rhythm as you get to his age.

The good news from the game this week was that the squad didn’t even seen to care or notice in the dressing room after the game. He’s alienating himself and that’s fine with me, and if we can get a quality replacement in January we should clear him out, but who’s available? It’s going to be very hard.

I think Oliver Kay cuts to the heart of the matter in his latest Athletic article.

He was there, as a 20-year-old, when Roy Keane eviscerated several of his team-mates, assistant manager Carlos Queiroz and, finally, Sir Alex Ferguson before the captain’s contract was terminated in November 2005. He was there six months later, when Ruud van Nistelrooy clashed with Ferguson once too often and stormed out of the Old Trafford dressing room, never to return.

And, on both occasions, the young Ronaldo breathed a huge sigh of relief — just as several of his team-mates will, along with Erik ten Hag, when the Portugal forward’s unhappy second spell in Manchester comes to end.

To be honest, that's as close to an apology as you can expect from Cristiano.
It's obviously been drafted by the pr company as posted above. Hilarious that some fecking suits have huddled into an office and drafted it. Clearly made a point to not actually say sorry, which would be an admission of guilt and of doing something wrong.

In the past he played 1 year at the highest level & the rest was a good player nothing special but fanboys will never accept this truth …. He isn’t a top 5 in our team history & would nevef be better than rooney

he is nothing but a selfish tw**** who only cares about himself just a stat padding

Those defending him in the media got paid for sure …..

Saying he chooses loyalty over man cuty is laughable considering the fact no big team wanted him at all
1 season at the highest level? No matter what he's just done, it doesn't re write history.

Why?
Because footballer go into hiding in January. If the club plans on getting a player in January they can. Might not be the ones fans dream of but a managers’ choice might not be the wrong one.

He absolutely isn't capable, in my opinion. How we play this season is completely different to how we play last season. If our game plan was to just get the ball to Ronaldo then, yeh, he'd probably get a few goals. But that's not what we're doing. He's nearly 38 - he simply doesn't have the legs to play in a ten Hag team. Have you seen our running numbers when Ronaldo is in the team compared to when he isn't? It's a 10k average difference a game, which is fecking insane. The guy is completely incapable of being an effective performer in a ten Hag team and he clearly knows it which is why he's throwing his toys out of the pram at the fact that he's no longer needed.

I blame the Americans.
When did people start supporting players instead of clubs?

Whatever you think of Southgate's tactical acumen, many managers have done a lot worse with a lot better. Calling him shit is just categorically untrue.
He is shit.
Comparing blindly across different eras is pointless. Southgate doesn't have a prime Brazil, prime France or Argentina to play against. Gernany, Italy, Spain were all going through transitions.

His relative strength in squad balance and ability has never been stronger. And yet he choked against sides that hes more than expected to beat. Its not like Sven who lost to a ridiculous Brazil side.

Not a single manager got the blessed run Southgate did. To face fecking sweden, Colombia and Croatia to get to the final of the WORLD CUP? feck me if you cant beat all those well you have to be shit.

For a different thread anyway.

Doesn’t this mean going against contract? Surely we ca destroy it then?
