Kane was consistently part of a stable good team while Lukaku was in teams that constantly went through ups and downs.

I was against signing Lukaku myself as I don't like his type of striker but some of the arguments against his signing are really poor.
Itll be interesting to see how they compare next season when they should both be getting fairly consistent service.

I actually think Lukaku is going to score more goals than Kane next season. But no I'm not saying Lukaku is a better player / striker.

His tweets are there. Not sure what he's trying to argue. Piece reflects his doubts fine and accurately.

But leaned heavily on his one doubt and not the many positives he mentioned. His negative was completely taken out of context in the article.

To be fair, I reckon Lukaku wanted to join Chelsea too (at least a few months ago) but they clearly faffed about too much and we stole a march. A reminder that you can't be tentative in a market where the elite clubs have equal spending power.

Thank goodness you pointed that out! I assumed the window was over and that was next season's squad in full! :nervous: obviously I meant that there's a lot of work to be done and I don't see us fixing all of these problems soon.

What I wanted to say was the transfer window is still open, the squad will obviously improve with more players coming in.

There is only one reason why Lukaku isn't announced and that is that we wanted to announce Rooney first.

His career record vs United, Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Spurs and Chelsea is:

57 games, 15 goals.
Considering the teams he's played with and his age, I think that's a decent record. Not cause for concern at least imo.

yup. true.

cristiano was not scoring goals in the CL before the roma game but then turn himself into a CL goalscoring machine later on.

not saying lukaku is dead certain to follow ronnie's footsteps and scoring freely in big games now but the potential is there.

Can't wait for this to be confirmed. He's a brilliant player and he'll be an excellent signing.

Sorry if its on a previous page but this is a done deal there are interviews up on youtube of Lukaku talking about why he has joined us.

Whilst I was more intrigued by the Morata signing, ultimately Lukaki is the better signing. No adjustment to the league, proven goalscorer in the league and should he step it up again in a better team I am confident he is happy to remain in England and not pine for Spain.

They have been caught with their pants down and are now trying to make their fans feel better. What a feck up.

Are they not aware that they're making the situation worse. They made him their first choice and spent all summer batting their eyelids, AND he really wanted to join them. That just highlights how much of a feck up it is that he's wearing red not blue.

Himself and Lindelof are great additions however we are far from ready for the season. We should really try and convince Griezmann to move this summer, we can't afford to wait for him another year. Griezmann + a solid defensive midfielder and we are looking much better.

Simply not going to happen. Maybe in January or next year, but I'm starting to think the boat has sailed on that one.

I like how in the ESPN interview he mentions several times on the need to work hard & improve. Think Jose's already been in his ear that he needs to work harder than before if he's to make the step-up & succeed at United, and it appears Lukaku accepts this.

Ya of course. "Lukaku definitely wanted us even when he was getting a medical for United, doing an interview about becoming a United player, celebrating with Pogba, his new teammate and even signing a United fan's shirt and posting about it on social media with the hashtag "Blessed" and "Thankful"

Just like Pogba was crying on the phone to Zidane to bring him to Madrid and save him from going to United

Only 4 goals outside the box for Everton. One of them being a free kick.

Meh. What we were crying out for last year was someone who could finish the dozens of chances inside the box that we constantly ***** up. If he does that who cares if he doesn't score many screamers. I don't recall Ruud scoring many from range and he was pretty decent

I read this earlier. I mean, this is beyond cringe.

Yep. Just brief the media that you no longer had interest in the player. It's obviously bullshit but it's a lot better than the delusional "Even though the player is now a United player he still wants to come to us".

They've shown their cringy true colours through all of this.

There is also the possibility that the press are just trying to create a bit of drama and Chelsea didn't brief anything.

No matter what Lukaku says in public, the opportunity to play with Pogba is one of the decisive factors. Forget the whole "who's the bigger/better club"-debate, but just imagine you have two offers from two huge clubs who both offer you the same amount of money, but one has one of your best friends on them, a guy you go on vacation with every summer. Which club are you going to choose?

And lastly, I think he has lots of respect for Mourinho because when he let him go when it was apparent that he wouldn't get starter's minutes at that point in time at Chelsea. That's no knock on anybody, Chelsea had just bought Costa, one of the best strikers in Europe at the time and they needed him to compete for the title while Lukaku wasn't ready for that role yet. It's just Mourinho being honest enough that Lukaku wouldn't play and Lukaku opening up about his desire and need for regular football. I see a lot of people claiming Mourinho got rid of him or Lukaku left him because he was upset with him, but I believe there's simply mutual respect between the two men.

Very unlikely. They've had a serious whack of desperation throughout all of this. Shit house of a club.

Half the Belgium team is at Chelsea and many players there are his friends. I think Pogba played a part in getting me here, but I don't think it was that significant.

That's the narrative from the press. Remember that they do the same thing with us, a week ago a senior source from the club was "telling" them that Mourinho was upset with Woodward.

Or he's just a driven, ambitious professional. This is why I'm most excited by this transfer. I have doubts about his technical ability and I can see him frustrating us at times, but Mourinho has worked with him before so knows what kind of mentality he has.
