Some of you are talking bollocks about today being 'Rooney day' so we are delaying an announcement. We will be making some massive video with him and Pogba for the announcement. That's why it's taking ages.

Robbie Fowler did a piece for the Mirror about Lukaku joining us and it was full drivel. He did make one very good point though and that was that Lukaku is hardly ever injured which is a major plus. Kane for instance missed 3 months last season.

We struggled against lower to mid table sides at home last year, mostly in games where we made lots of chances we couldn't finish. A penalty box striker is precisely what we need. Only latterly in the season, when we were knackered, did we struggle to create chances.

Think he'll get over 30 goals in all competition. Closer to 40

Yes. Why hasn't it happened yet?
Time difference and a few things left to iron out is my guess. Lukaku had his medical last night. In LA it is still the morning so they might be working on some photos, interviews etc and want to announce it when the focus isn't on the rest of the squad in the air or Wayne Rooney.

There is also the possibility that the press are just trying to create a bit of drama and Chelsea didn't brief anything.

This could be the case in this instance but it definitely wasn't when Lukaku was pretty much done and dusted and we were just waiting for the "Medical and Personal Terms" tweet and they made their 75m "but won't pay the agents fees" bid. Could have just bowed out at that point instead they basically went "Hey we matched their bid but they paid his greedy agent and that's where we drew the line" Which I've already seen Chelsea supporters buy into it.

I would say it's probably because they are waiting for Jose to land in LA to take some pictures of him and Lukaku but I'm pretty sure Jose doesn't take pictures with new signings, definitely didn't take a picture with Pogba, Ibra. Bailly or Mkhitaryan last year

They are allowed to make a last offer, there is nothing wrong with that, iirc we did the same with Alexis Sanchez when he was at Udinese and Benzema too. Also remember what was said after Hazard's transfer.

To be fair, I reckon Lukaku wanted to join Chelsea too (at least a few months ago) but they clearly faffed about too much and we stole a march. A reminder that you can't be tentative in a market where the elite clubs have equal spending power.
I wanted to comment on this in the Lewandowski thread. But it was already closed. Where somebody said that chasing multiple targets at once doesnt matter. But in evidently does. For example if we were still chasing pipedreams now like Lewandowski or Ronaldo. Lukaku mightve gone with Chelsea already at some point and we wouldve ended up with nobody. Of course if youre chasing in different positions it doesnt matter. Since you can sign Both your first choices. But you dont sign Lukaku and after that Lewandowski if we play with 1 striker. To bench your 70m buy. You put Lukaku on hold and then somebody can swoop in.(discounting that we could use 2 strikers, just as an example)

I wouldve preferred Morata personally. I think he has a higher ceiling and is a more gracious footballer. But defintly a bigger risk than Lukaku. I dont see in Lukaku a CL winner striker. But i hope he does well. Im wondering how we will fare in the CL. Cup competitions are Mourinhos bread and butter and with a pragmatic setup we could reach the semis and from there anything can happen.

Agreed on all points.
But bear in mind that when we stopped creating lots of chances, Ibra and Mata were both injured. Mhiki was the guy who I expected to step up to the plate, on account that he was the oldest and most experienced attacker we had, but unfortunately Mhiki is no leader.

It's all about his general play for me. If that's up to scratch and he improves his hold up play he's going to be excellent for us and will prove a good foil for Martial and co.

I'm a bit sceptical about him, but he's more than welcome to prove me wrong. Hope his price tag won't affect him much.

It is fake but FYI if you add someone you can only see what they put on their story after the time you added them

That's definitely not true. I've added people and seen their stories from 20 hours or so before.
Correct. They changed it in the last year so that you can see recent stuff posted by people before they added you/you added them

Apparently after Rooney left our top goalscorer from our current team is Mata with 36 goals. Come on Lukaku you can do it!

Will Lukaku join the rest of the team on the U.S Tour?
