It's always been like that. I remember when Rooney scored his 100th the next closest to 100 was Berbatov with 12 goals. We had Giggs and Scholes above Rooney but 26 from Mata and 25 from Martial are closer to Rooney's goal tally than anyone we had in 2009.
I wonder if we have to go back decades to when our current top scorer only had 36 goals.

To be fair on Rashford and Martial. Rashford is in a little over a season and Tony didn't really play much in the one just gone. Loads of room for improvement but the potential for them numbers to rise a lot.Seeing it like that, it doesn't inspire much confidence in our goalscoring ability.
