Romelu Lukaku | Napoli watch

Not sure why all the hate - sure he wasn't the most technically gifted CF we had but nor was Andy Cole as an example. He did a job for us for a couple of seasons and I wish him well at Inter. Personally think he'll be in the top 3 goalscorers in Serie A whilst he is there
If Quag could be top scorer there in a vastly inferior team, I don't think that would be a huge achievement. I don't think this Inter team are going to be very creative though so it'll be interesting to see how he fares.

That video highlights what good business we've done in getting rid of him.

You simply don't keep an 80m forward to play as flat track bully. And he doesn't guarantee goals if not being served on a plate which is the case with our side recently.

That is true - but the price of the player has nothing to do with his actual position in the squad. That's based on performances. I don't think we should have kept him, but what i find disappointing is the way he moved out of the club. There is no excuse for being entirely unprofessional.

But, why? He wanted to be a starter, and the very fact that he was considered a squad player at best is one of the chief reasons he wanted out.

Again, that's my problem. You either establish that you are good enough to start with your performances, or you accept you are a squad player. The attitude that I'll just move elsewhere because i can't be bothered to improve is what's entirely unacceptable, and has left us short of a important squad position for this season. A professional and respectful way to do this would be what Pogba seems to be doing. Pogba knows he will have a good chance of winning the Champions League with other clubs which will be interested in signing him (Madrid, PSG, Barca, Juve), but he has decided to stay for this season. He knows we are rebuilding under a new manager, and if he leaves now, it will make it very hard for us to get into the top 4. I'm sure Pogba (like all man-utd fans here) knows that we won't win the league this season.

He can reassess or leave next season, and he would have given the club enough time to plan for his departure - as opposed to putting the club in a position that we need to sign 7-8 players in one window to be able to reach the bare minimum target (i.e. top 4).

Are you his fecking brother? Andy Cole is one of the best strikers the prem has ever seen (fastest player to 50 prem goals for example, a record he still holds) and is one of uniteds greats. Lukaku is an average striker who kicked up a stink the moment he was dropped for not performing well enough. There is no comparison.

As for the hate, lukaku looked like he didn't give a feck and then made a media circus and went awol. Not that hard to see why people don't like him.

Indeed. It’s been his appalling attitude that we have seen over the past 6 months.

He was indulged by Jose, and it was United who suffered from his decision to bulk up/ get fat/ completely unfit to the extent that he didn’t deserve to be in the team. Then his behaviour this pre-season showed he was happy to throw his team mates under the bus, and couldn’t even pretend to be a professional footballer.

Add insult to injury, this is Lukuku - a very average striker who can’t score against any decent defence - hardly Ronaldo or Neymar!

Andy Cole was brilliant, and he got some appalling stick from the media at times (when the media was much worse and more vile than it is now), and he just got in with it and scored important goals. To compare Lukuku to Cole is utterly ridiculous.

Interesting responses - apparently work under Conte is harder than in England, and he's eating salads...

He’s always good at telling fans what they wanted to here, not so much as showing them what they wanted to see.

Is that WHU - City on TV behind him?
What a horrible, horrible man, he did that on purpose.
Why didn't you recorded it during our game, ha, loser? is it good?

He's shown himself to be a colossal bellend hasn't he

Can’t wait for the first video of this donkey tripping over himself this season to surface. I’ll be able to laugh twice as hard now that he’s not doing it in our jersey.

Regardless of how he does over there, he was never going to work out here.

He would have killed any chance of fluid football we would try to play. And just imagine him in a pressing team, he would look so out of place.

The Italian league will suit him much better though.

Laughing at having to eat salad now - unprofessional fecker knew he was overweight and was actively doing nothing about it till now

Very strange opinion considering that Conte exactly plays that kind of football based on high pressing in every team he managed and he’s doing the same at Inter as his trademark.

In fairness I don’t think he was over actually overweight, just too much muscle and his body frame made him look fat when I’m reality he was ripped.

He had a LOT of fat built into those muscles.. ripped like a body builder off season..

Did you watch any UNITED matches last year?
Lukaku slowed us down immensely

Did you read what I wrote?
So how you can imagine that he would fit into a Conte team if Conte plays with high pressing? Very simple question.

Good luck to Conte then! He'll be in for a rude surprise, when he sees his #9 tire out after pressing for 10 mins.

If Conte wants to play a high press with his striker contributing, Lukaku will have to slim down a lot.
Thankfully, not our problem anymore. :D

When you're a professional athlete though, having too much muscle is still being overweight.

It was clearly affecting him, he admitted it around Xmas, and then did feck all to try to sort it out. Just carried on being an immobile lump up front who could barely jog.

I know he's joking in that video about eating salads but I'm sure it's rooted in truth. I can imagine Inter and Conte have told him to lose weight.

With respect, behave yourself. Cole scored over 120 goals across 7 or 8 seasons, despite a long spell out with a broken leg, playing against the best teams in Europe. His touch, speed, versatility and instinct (3 consecutive seasons scoring 20+ in all comps despite being rotated) were only bettered in the late 90's by Shearer, the generational talent of the era. Yes, he had a better quality team around him, and wasn't a good fit at international level, but to infer he wasn't technically capable isn't right at all.

Right on then, so you’re telling me he was actually even more than just overweight. Muscle is heavier than fat and is a lot easier to lose than fat.

You’re not ‘ripped’ when you come out and say you’re overweight. You’re not ‘ripped’ when you can’t get your body to move fast enough for a first touch. You’re not ‘ripped’ when the first thing a club does when it signs you is put you on a salad diet
