Martial has proven this season to be a better number 9 beyond any doubt
Yes.
No.
Yes.
He can never get rid of that tag, rightly so.You’re being kind in saying he’s scored against big teams. None against the top four in the league. And, other than a meaningless goal against Barca, not a great deal more in Europe. He still hasn’t addressed this big game bottler tag.

Still, he scored in big games i.e. against top teams, even-though the goals are too low, around 1 to 3 goals per season, ridiculous.
Past seasons - vs Chelsea, PSG, City, etc.
Easy rubbish in big games, good consistent scoring in the rest of the games.Lukaku is rubbish but scores 29 goals and 5 assists. Something doesn't add up.

I know right. It’s a pathetic record given the size of price tag. Compare him to someone like Vardy, it’s absolutely night and day.

That got me curious.Has the lad ever won a trophy? Not looking to be cruel, just genuinely interested.
Yes, not for us. He did for his previous clubs.Never scored against City for us (not in a competitive game anyway). His record for us was
0 goals v City
0 goals v Liverpool
0 goals v Spurs
0 goals v Arsenal
1 goal v Chelsea
I know right.
He is a weird player. Specialist flat track bully.
Vardy is really balance, a constant threat against any teams.
That got me curious.
Apparently only once, back at Belgium. Never again. Won many individual awards though.
Just one trophy for a consistent 20+ goals/season striker. Really odd.
no not really. He scored yes, but should have scored more, and was camping in offside position whole game.Barcelona – that’s pretty cool.

On of the things written about him after the game:
Paolo Menicucci, Inter reporter
'Out!' is Gazzetta dello Sport's front-page headline. "What a waste," the newspaper continues, lamenting that Lukaku scored but might have had three more.
Barcelona team that day: Neto, Rakitic, Todibo, Lenglet, Wague, Griezmann, Alena, Vidal, Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Carles Perez.
Suarez in -Griezmann out - 63 min.
De Jong in - Rakitić out - 63rd min.
Fati in - Carles Pérez out - 85th min.
That got me curious.

I hate this type of bullshit terminology that pervades football these days. Just speak normally.
That's his biggest problem, he's not aware he's not really that good but thinks he is.If he checked his arrogant ego and was prepared to be a rotation player at a top club then he could have a brimming trophy cabinet. As it happens, he wants to be the main man, but is only really good enough to do so at second tier teams. I think it’s conceivable that he goes through his entire career without a league medal.
It was either Lukaku or Morata. I’d argue we shouldn’t have gone for either but If I had to choose it would be Lukaku.
No excuses for Lukaku though. He wasn’t an astute signing for us.
where were u 3 days ago?
Ah well deal with it...

I think it makes a lot of sense really. He's a great goalscorer, always has been, so in a good team he'll rack up great stats. But the best teams will always lose something with him in the side, because he limits the way you can play, and his technical shortcomings means he'll always get shown up against the very elite, and as such he'll probably limit what his side can achieve. That got me curious.

As you've said, he can easily be an ideal rotational striker for any top clubs. Bench him vs big teams, and always play him against the rest. Thinking he would do well similar to our 98/99 4 strikers rotations, but in modern football it's 2 striker rotation. Alas, he just refuse to be one. Left asap after being dropped with us.
Nothing has changed has it. Fit, working hard and with a first touch he'd be very dangerous/top class.
He can bully and shoot, and scores in patches or when it's it's a bit flat tracky. That's what you actually get. And if he doesnt fancy it, not that either.
Barcelona B team - was actually the main culprit they lost the match, Napoli and Roma aren't even top teams this season, Milan were in shit form at the time - after the restart i think they're top 3Barcelona, Milan, Napoli and Roma

Isnt that necessary to even be at the top level? They all think they're the best and usually on their way up they were. People like Gary Neville might joke how he was average now but at the time he thought he was the dogs.
I dont hold that against Lukaku. I hold his elephant like first touch against him.
Shearer won a league title and was the best player in that team, for Blackburn btw, while Lukaku has played for United and Inter as the main man for 3 seasons total and never won a thing (unless they get something this season)Shearer says hi
Are we going to pretend he didnt score two goals that night in paris? You’re being kind in saying he’s scored against big teams. None against the top four in the league. Great business getting rid of Lukaku when you look at the front three you have at the moment who could be tearing it up for a decade. Inter Milan have been a godsend for Utd by taking that donkey alongside Sanchez and Ashley Young from you.
