the way he took the winning goal and slotted it into the bottom corner without much time and thinking is impressive.

no matter how bad his first touch and linking up outside the box are, he is our best finisher inside the box.

hope he continiues to work with Ole with regards to his attacking play. can still see him finishing with 20 goals this season if his form continues.

I think this week was basically the first time he properly used his right foot and just shot on instinct instead of overthinking things. Hed always work too hard to put it on his left in the past. Good to see.

For a second the whole team was in disbelief, like time stopped.

I think when he has time then he messes it up. I wish he would improve his heading and his control and first touch.
He does not need to be a Berbatov in his first touch but even Fellaini has a better first touch.

His first touch and link up is miles improved over before Ole joined. I'm telling you, it's actually down to his weight loss. Trim and fit Lukaku will be untouchable.

I would have never thought that Rom can use his weak foot so well. Having a huge humble pie for my Sunday brunch. Long it may continue.

That's true, I just don't know how the dynamics will be with Lukaku instead of Lingard. I'm guessing Ole will want Lukaku as close to goal as possible, does Rashford play on the wing then?
I seem to recall Ole saying in one of his earlier interviews that he'd use 4-4-2 at times if necessary so maybe he'll bust out that classic? It'll be interesting when Martial and Lingard return.
Was he booked for it I can't remember, because although lukaku swatted him away, it looked. dangerous
I think he got a yellow, yes. I actually think he only booked him due to the pressure from the crowd which is a tad crazy.

As we kind of knew, when he's running at goal and getting shots away early he's pretty good. It's the rest of the game he lacks ability in and against decent teams we will struggle with that.

Credit when it's due, he missed some chances early on but he delivered in the 2nd, splendid finishes with what's supposed to be his weaker foot.

Oddly enough the less touches he's got with the ball, the better it seems. He's somewhat OK when it comes to controlling those short, slow passes, but anything beyond that, is a lottery pretty much.

Either way, him hitting form and scoring can only be beneficial for us in this moment when it's make it or break it time. If nothing, he's recovering his value.

Untouchable like last season?
This is the same Lukaku we know when he was at Everton or first season here. Good striker with great instinct and finish inside the box, a handful for smaller teams in the league. But didn’t we pay a lot of money for him to be something else?

I am glad he is shooting now. He has been struggling to get shots away for most of the season. He is a top goalscorer, and our best striker. Amazing that he is still our top scorer - even without pens - in what has been a terrible season for him.

Lukaku mentioned in the post-match yesterday that he's always considered himself two-footed. I'd be inclined to agree as he has scored a number of goals with his right foot in the past.

His last 3 goals for us were right footed bottom corner finishes any striker would be proud of on their good foot. Guess he's not lying.

Maybe he’s finally getting time to practice shooting in the training instead of knocking down headers to particularly no one?
Weirdly has anyone else noticed that his heading of knock downs to people especially over the last few games seems to have massively improved compared to the days when it was basically Jose’s go to tactic. Feel like he’s won a few headers and been able to control in which direction he was knocking it on, where as before he was rarely winning them and it was a lottery as to where they were heading.

He’s always been two footed scored some crackers at Everton with his right, good to see him doing what he does best which is playing off the shoulder and making runs and people actively trying to pick him out. Thought his hold up play was brilliant yesterday to boot.

Long may it continue.
Still has areas he needs to improve, but the goals he has scored have been very good.

I'd love for him to get going. Summer is upon us and Striker could possibly be a position we'll want to look at, but Lukaku hitting for could make us shift our attentions to other areas, more needed areas!

I never understood the hate for this guy. He’s not a world class striker yet but he’s a proven PL scorer who was doing 1 in 2 at a very young age for crap teams. He might never become world class but he’s surely good enough to be a in the squad of a title challenging team.
Well that’s were your ambition lacks as an arsenal fan. As a United fan we need a world class striker. Not just for the league but also go the champions league. Lukaku might be good enough for the league which I’m not even 100% sure but further than that we need someone who does more than just score goals. For lukaku to just “score goals” he will need opportunities which are less frequent against top opposition.

I’m very happy for him and glad that he has come up big time in our battle to secure 4th or higher. Hopefully he remains consistent till the end of the season.

I loved those finishes, another slight improvement in hold up and some very good running.

Need to work on the touch a lot more, but a deserved MOTM performance

Thought he was brilliant yesterday. Couple bad touches here and there, but none of that matters when you can score like he did, the Bertrand incident is the best thing I've seen all season, reminded me of Nani flooring Ivanovic for some reason.

Better with his weaker right foot than with his left. He is actually pretty good once he doesnt think and picks a spot and shoots instead of daddling around. The last 4 goals he scored were great, just banged them in without much fuss.

Someone should tell him he's actually right footed. It's been holding him back.

Is Lukaku world-class ? No - but he is the only proven goalscorer we have. Rashford has a much higher potential, but I still feel he lacks that goalscoring ability that Lukaku has. So now that he has shown he can do it under Solskjaer, I am convinced we should keep him.

I have more faith in a dynamic and exciting style of play when I see Martial-Rashford-Lingard, but I have more faith in seeing the ball in the back of the net if Lukaku were involved.

Better yesterday, aside from the great finishes. Hope he can do something special against PSG, but considering the lack of possession we will have I'm not sure if he will get the chances.

The guy is such an enigma. He is the best finisher at the club (other than Ole) but he misses so many sitters. He is a very good crosser of the ball but that is not exactly the first trait you look for in a centre forward. His hold up play is inconsistent but overall fairly poor and he heads the ball like a Teletubby.

I think though, he has improved lately and has definitely dropped some weight (which may be contributing to his increased workrate over the past couple of weeks).

If we can have a run of games with Lukaku, Martial and Rashford on the pitch we will get a better idea of where we stand in terms of strikers for next season.

Much better when he's instinctive and doesn't have time to think with his finishes. Very very good when he does that. Still think his hold up, ball control and inability to be effective at linking play and creating chances for team mate's will ensure he's not our first choice striker in a title challenging team in future seasons

Lukaku is adapting to any role Ole is giving him without pouting. That's how we build a great squad with depth. Sitting here worrying about how much we paid for the player is like crying over spilt milk.

Also, re: being untouchable just look at Bertrand fly off the man

He was lashing them in during the warm up against de Gea as well.

The issue is you can't have a player that expensive sitting on your bench, unless you're a petro club or Madrid (Bale). It's either play in the 1st team or be sold, and that's the crux for Lukaku as he will not accept being a bit-part player, and nor should he.

Why can't we be the first non petro and non Madrid club with such an expensive player on the bench? :D

We will have to go toe to toe against them anyway if we want to rule the footballing world.

I think Lukaku would be more than happy being the Ole for this squad considering he is being managed by ole himself.

I thought this was a red card. The intent is clear.

It's a definite red card. Both feet off the floor (one of them around chest level) with no intention to play the ball.

If Rom had gone down it might have got a red... but it's one of those ones where it looks so weird, the ref might have thought "what the feck was that?" and gave it a yellow.
