Very impressive scoring 3 out of his last 4 goals with his weaker foot and none of them were easy finishes.

Fantastic finishes with his weaker foot..

He was getting a lot of flack for being too bulky, but when he took his shirt off, he was in fantastic shape.

Well done to Lukaku today. He's dreadful mostly but kept on plugging away and had two very good finishes. Won the match for us today, what else can you ask for?

As a rotation striker and blaster of mediocre teams he could be a very useful player. It is just that his technical limitations restrict our attacking play in a key position, that becomes especially apparent against better teams when you get fewer opportunities to create quality chances.

If he was just average technically for that role it would be enough.

He's probably played his way in to the starting eleven now. Wonder how our lineup will look with Martial back.

People saying this guy is not good enough for Manchester United, amaze me. At the very least, he is more than good enough for our bench. Too quick and too strong for most defenders. 113 goals in the premier league. Top 20 striker in the league's history. Belgium's all time best hit man. Just 25.
How can we say he is not good enough?
The issue is you can't have a player that expensive sitting on your bench, unless you're a petro club or Madrid (Bale). It's either play in the 1st team or be sold, and that's the crux for Lukaku as he will not accept being a bit-part player, and nor should he.

I don't think anyone sensible was accusing him of being fat, just that he's prioritised muscle bulk and the strength it brings over the pace he needs to be at his most effective in this side. He doesn't need to massively change shape, in my opinion, just trim down a little bit to shift the balance slightly more towards pace and agility.

We saw the best and worst of him today.
First half he struggled and looked sluggish on the ball.
Second half he saved us though, so can't complain!
As long as he keeps scoring we can put up with his bad moments in games.

I didn’t like his game overall, he still makes some poor decisions and has one of the worst first touches I’ve ever seen in a professional player.

But none of this matter if he is going to be finishing chances like tonight. MOTM.

He was worldclass with both finishes, specially the second one. He is on a run and gaining confidence I hope he keeps it up.

Was great to see him smiling and enjoying some of his game time and coming up with the goods - it is always good to have a striker who know where the net is & he does. He is next to useless as a lone frontman but as part of an attacking trio, interchanging positions, he can be very effective as we saw today

Being good with both feet is such a huge advantage for a striker. Never realised he could shoot that well with his weak foot. It might be something he has been working on recently.

Very good performance in my view. Looked sharp all game and got two goals. Some decent crosses as well and did linkup more today too.

He is slimming down becoming lithe and mobile and starting to resemble the Everton Lukaku more and more. Great quality finishing.

Just to add, today's performance comes on the back off a couple that - although may not have been him at his best - were very decent performances in terms of his application and contribution to our play. If this continues in to a purple patch that he's usually due at least once every season it can be huge for our top four aspirations.

Brilliant today and really stepped up at a vital time for us this week with all the injuries. Wonder once Martials back if we'll have all 3 together how theyll do, so much pace and power there.

Can he only score one type of goal?

Every goal seems to be in the exact same spot with the same foot, same curl, same corner.

He should just stand there all game and wait for the pass.

I've criticised him a lot.

But feck me those were some wonderfully taken goals. He really has stepped up wonderfully when needed.

Masterclass in Paris upcoming.

Very important few goals this week but I feel like we play much better with Rashford through the middle. Good option to have tough none the less.

Wow based on this thread it seems I missed a lot not getting to see the game tonight, glad Rom is showing his class cant wait to watch the highlights

Lukaku had to step up with the injuries we have and he has delivered.
2 good goals again today, happy for him and he deserves the credit.
Thought his 2nd goal today was class,a real strikers goal.

Him playing on the wings has improved his overall games i think. He's keen to give assist and also doesn't shy from banging one in himself. I'm very happy for him.

Probably his best game for us since his Chelsea game at OT last season. Looked the striker we thought we're buying in that second half.

2 or 3 more games of this please and he'll win me over.

Strange of Pogba not to give him the peno. Think I recall something like that from Pogba in the past, too. It's already late into the stoppage time I mean.

He left one pen to Martial after having scored the first pen himself. I think that's the only case.

Didn't he strip Lukaku of the potential hat-trick this very season? I maybe wrong of course but I do remember people complaining about him not giving somebody the chance to complete one. It's nothing too serious, just a nice touch.

Might be. The only pen I remember him leaving to someone else was that one (of course, Zlatan was in charge of pens on Pogba's first season here).

Also, Lukaku lost a pen 2 in the last season. No idea how he took is (was Pogba in the pitch or not).

Well in Rom, took his goals great. Haven’t seen most of the match but his goals counted today! Brilliant stuff
