Find it funny that newtonheathdave is bit peeved that he has been given the tagline of bitter and yet referred to us as Rags in one of his posts. I imagine that Any United fans on bluemoon would be given an instant ban if they referred to City as bitters.

I am not peeved at the tagline at all and Brewlio will back me up on this. I find it quite funny. My point is that I am the least bitter person you could ever meet so it is kind of funny that I have it under my name.
I think Chabons post on this thread seem a bit bitter which is a bit surprising as he usually speaks a lot of sense. Regarding his views on whether City have changed or the money, well they are his opinions and I have to respect them.
But his post about the fans is totally wrong. The vast, vast majority do not think we deserve out because we have stuck by our team. The general consensus is that we are lucky and extremely grateful. Most of us are still in a state of shock at whats happened to us and have to pinch ourselves to make sure it is real. We certainly do not declare ourselves to be the best fans ever nor do we expect or think we deserve success.
As for me refering to you lot as rags. Banning me for that would be worse than Kompany's red card :)

As terms of abuse go, I can't think of many tamer than 'rags'...it's even less offensive than 'Manure'.

It comes out of a time in history when the club had no money, we came through it so I think it should be a source of perverse pride. I might even start a movement to reclaim it, niggaz.

yoho n**gro - i thought it was because of the cloth or clothing industry in manc.

on RVP to bad we couldn't swap out berba for him and cash.

He'll sign for City before the week is out according to TalkSport.

You heard it here first, well, unless you also listen to TalkSport.

"Rags" is an extremely common name City fans refer to United as around these parts KM. I don't find it insulting at all. That's all just part of the banter IMO. Plus it was actually a nickname started by United fans IIRC.

I have a feeling he has very much made up his mind which club he wants to go to and as such negotiations between Arsenal and other clubs have slowed down with them all playing the waiting game and seeing who folds first.

I just can't see Arsenal keeping an unhappy RVP for a year and losing out on £15m. Everyone knows they have to sell each year to keep the books right and who else are they going to let go of knowing that RVP will be leaving for free next year anyway? You can see why it's going slowly. There is another month of posturing in this yet.

This is such a strange one. At first I could not see him coming to us in a million years. Now it looks almost like an inevitability. Certainly the media reports seem to be suggesting that is the way the wind is blowing.

Still finding it hard to let go of my initial reaction to this though. And I dont think Wenger needs to worry about his professionalism. If he doesnt move this year and runs out his contract with Arsenal he will give them everything. And as someone said above, if he makes the difference between them getting into Europe and them missing out, he will probably have justified losing the £15m. Tho how the fans will react to him will be interesting.

I suspect he will stay and I suspect he will miss at least 2 months of the coming season through injury. Then he can go to Juve or wherever else.

I still can't bring myself to think van Persie will come. And even if he did, I'm not sure I want him to. What a bizarre emotion towards what would essentially be signing the worlds best striker.

Having said that, the moment he signs I'll wank myself silly, furiously and repeatedly, of course.

I think this is where I find myself. There's still a voice inside me wondering what the feck we're going to do when all 3 of Kagawa, Rooney and Van Persie are fit (surely we're going to have to play one of them out of position?), but it'd be some statement of intent if were to sign him.

I know. And just think about Rooney and van Persie together..

Of course, there's no way all three of them is going to be fit at the same time.

The emotions are all distorted by his damn injury record.

Itd be like going out with a really really fit, but very hairy bird. Yes she is fit, so yes, you are delighted with yourself for bagging it. But at the same time, not only does she have a really woolly fanny, that extends a little too far onto the tops of her legs, but she has hairy armpits and really hairy legs and, when you look closely, whisps on her top lip.

So you just pray to god that once the initial deed is done you can talk her into sorting herself out. Because otherwise you will have to look at it over breakfast every morning, and you will start to take the beauty for granted, but the hair will never cease to disturb you.

I think if they were all fit in the same team we would go with Rooney up top, with Kagawa in the middle behind him, RVP on the left and Nani on the right, with whatever is available sitting behind that - Carrick and whoever.

But obviously we would be in a situation where we would have a lot of options. It would be rotation oclock.

Interesting analogy.

That doesn't really work though.

I'd say he's more like a fit bird you've taken home with you, but just as the act approaches it's climax, she'll complain that she's sore and it hurts too much and you'll have to call it off.

The you meet her again, and the same thing happens before you've really got going. Rinse and repeat.

There was, of course, the story one of your mates told you about that one night which was heavenly, and that's the agony right there. You want her, you know she wants to, but it just doesn't seem to happen. It would be better if that night with your mate didn't happen at all - you probably wouldn't have taken her home and tried if it didn't.

I like your analogy better. I assume it means I have a much bigger cock than my mate, and she cant handle it. Which is certainly in keeping as far as the difference between United and Arsenal is concerned.

I think we could save some of this old guff for a slow night in the general.

I'd say that one hit a bit too close to the bone.

Out of interest, what are your views on this whole debacle? Do you think he will go, and if he does, do you think he will be a fine signing for us?

RVP is a fit bird with a hairy fanny who complains that it's too sore when you're on your vinegars?

And we laugh at RAWK?

RVP has said he won't sign a new contract. This is his last big contract and by moving he believes he will maximise his earnings whilst giving him a better chance of winning titles.

He is 29 next week and he has, what?,3/4 years left at the top. In view of that who can blame him for wanting to double his pay? No guarantee he will win trophies but at least he won't be losing out financially.

The fact that Utd and City are in for him at least ensures an auction likely to maximise value. He will almost certainly go, probably to City who when pushed will outbid Utd, is my guess, like Nasri last year.

It will go down to the wire - 31 august transfer wouldn't surprise me.

Of course as a Gooner, it's a disappointment but life goes on. At least this year, the club has moved quickly to sign new players. Anyway, will he produce another season like last year, his best since coming to Arsenal and the most injury free, too?

That's such an out-dated opinion. You look at the best players around these days and they're producing at the highest level until at least 34-35, often a year or two longer.

Drog? Still looking pretty good at 34.

He was crap in the league and saved it for a couple of big performances in the Champions League. There's a reason why Chelsea let him go and he went to Shanghai Shenhua.

the very same thing we did when yorke, cole, ole and sheringham where fit. play the best two of them on form. keep the other fresh, nobody is garenteed a start, everybody (including rooney) will have to perform. hernandez and welbeck will have to develop quicker and become for clinical.

the qeustion for me is "why would we not want van persie" as opposed questioning the signing. he's better than welbeck, hernandez and kagawa, (arguably on par / better than rooney), it appears he wants to play for us, he,s got premier league experience...........no brainer

Nowhere near what he once was. Showed up in a few big games but in the League he got 5 goals and 1 assist in 24 appearances, can't deliver consistently any more.

Drogba is almost uniquely dependent on his physicality/athleticism so you'd expect him to be over the hill earlier than most. That seemed to be happening last season last season but you'd have to wonder how much of that was the same demotivation that seemed to afflict most of Chelsea's old guard under AvB. He was immense in the closing months, when it counted.

RvP's attributes will probably continue to get better with age and further experience anyway. We should definitely be going all out for him.

Also, if I was Hernandez and Welbeck, studying Rooney and RvP in training would be an absolute dream.

Drogba started his career late so possibly had a few years left. Van Persie's inury lay-offs and lack of reliance on pace plus adapability would suggest he's a good bet to play on til say 34.

ive heard this arguement a number of times and think its total bollox. does that mean owen and hargreaves will be fit when there 45?

Depends on the type of injury and type of player..Owen was all about pace now that's gone he is not half the player he was, Hargreaves injuries are career threatening especially when taking his position into account. Whereas players like RVP do not rely on pace so can go on longer ..Well that's my opinion anyways.

I don't think it's controversial to suggest that when he gets to 32/33, he'll be past his best.

Anyway, the point I'm making is that given his days are numbered at the top and this is therefore his last chance of a big contract, he is bound to be motivated by the big bucks available from a City or Utd

It's not total bollox. The human body is only partially self-regenerating - some stress effects are permanent. That's the reason athletes frequently enjoy poor health in later life.

Am I the only fan who couldn't give a toss what rival fans call us?

The worse the abuse the more I think what a bitter wanky lot they are

feck'em all
