I suspect City is the last place Arsenal or Wenger will want him to go. The Nasri wounds haven't yet healed.

And he can't go if they say no. (sounds like an african-american politician or lawyer; possibly Jesse Jackson or Johnny Cochran - if the glove don't fit you must acquit)

I understand Arsene wouldnt want him to go to City but i doubt the suits will think about it in those terms if they are offered big money for someone with a year on his contract who has had his head turned.

Filthy lucre may have the last word, I suppose.

We'll have to depend on the integrity of a professional footballer then. Talk about clutching at straws.

It'll probably go up to about £150K which with the signing on bonus will make it within 20-25% of the market rate. For most people that's not enough for a purely money-driven move.

RVP is older and humbler than a Samir Nasri of the football world. I don't see him chasing the maximum wage on offer, more likely think of his family and ensure he is getting somewhat close to what he and his team feel he deserves in the current market. I hope he stays at Arsenal because I really admire Wenger and what he's trying to do there, and it'd be a shame to lose three of your best players in two years and unravel all the good work he has done.

Selfish considerations aside I'd like to see him stay at the Emirates. It's horrible to see a club like Arsenal losing all their best players to a club like City with nothing to recommend them except a fat wallet - which isn't even their's.

With Berbatov and Owen almost certainly leaving in the summer, I can't help but feel we're selling ourselves a little bit short with Welbeck and Hernandez. Nothing against them per se, they've both done excellently over the last couple years to get to where they are, but I think the last couple months have shown that they are probably not quite accomplished enough to rely on when squeeky bum time sets in.

Them two on the bench with a front line of RvP feeding off Rooney would be, quite frankly, immense.

Problem is that, even if his wage demands aren't ridiculous, City will quite happily throw more money to Arsenal and we already know that Arsenal don't seem to have a problem strengthening City's squad whilst Wenger has a real mental block over helping us out.

Hearing murmurs about City offering RvP £250,000 per week.

Might be old news though but was inevitable that they're going to be sniffing around.

Hasn't he agreed a new deal yet?

I've always thought he'd go to City, seems the only big club that need him. Unless Madrid sell Higuain to City, then they'd have a free space for Van Persie, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

With Guardiola gone then it might open up for a Barca move if Tito decides to change formation. Still, I'm pretty sure he'll go to City personally.

Thing is he can play as a lone striker or as one of the three behind. So he will certainly get games.

I'd play him as a lone striker with three of Silva, Aguero, Nasri, Hazard and Tevez behind. For example,

--Silva-- Aguero-- Hazard
-------Van Persie---

Could quite easily become,

Nasri- Van Persie-- Hazard
-------Tevez-----

Some chat on Twatter that Moratti has suggested he's off to Inter for £30million.

Personally I hope he stays at Arsenal if he doesn't go abroad!

He's good for the league. Would hate the league to lose a player like him. Hope he stays though.

He has every right to go wherever he gets the most money, he doesnt owe arsenal anything at this stage.
If he does Leave I hope he goes abroad.
If city get him we can forget about winning anything next year, in fact everyone can.

Too many chefs

If Juventus somehow managed to get him they'd almost definitely become one of the best sides in Europe instantly, I reckon.

A transfer to city followed by the return of his injuries would be great.

Possible league champions? Investment in the squad which could make them CL winners?

Arsenal's (an maybe Wenger's) failure to invest is costing them dear. Van Persie is a top player who should be challenging for top honours. Van Persie is probably sick of hearing Wengers promises that a golden generation of youth team players will soon mature into superstars.

I personally think Arsenal have a chance of keeping him - but only if they match his ambition.

Are they not already? Are they better than us currently? How about Giovinco, he was highly rated a few years back, any news on his progress?

Nah, I agree with Zen - and Pexbo too, in that one injury free season does not necessarily mean his troubles are all behind him.

He is certainly better than the strikers City currently have but it is not clear he would make such a big difference and he could upset the balance. Either way, we are dealing in the margins here, City already have wonderful strikers, I dont think this would leave us in their wake or anything like that.

Hard to really judge them based on Serie A alone, that's the problem. They're a great possession side with a really solid defence but up front they've constantly chopped and changed and it's difficult to know just how much that lack of cutting edge will hurt them. At the moment I'd have them very much second tier along with Dortmund, Milan, Arsenal and the like. As for Giovinco he's been one of the players of the season in Serie A at Parma, but I think that's his level. Star of a midtable side or useful reserve player for a top club, according to my Juve-supporting workmate. Juventus still own 50% of the player's rights but it looks likely he'll not go back.

He's excellent but you never really know how a player settles/fits in at a new club.

High cost, high wages, 28, from a premier league rival and a terrible injury record.

Will never happen. I do however think that we may be sending some bullshit rumours out as red herrings to keep City occupied while we work very quietly on sealing some very astute deals.

Thing is when City were rumoured to be in for him before it sort of was feasible with Tevez looking like he was gonna leave, Dzeko not being in favour etc. But now it looks like Tevez is staying, so with him, Aguero, Silva and Nasri I think it'll be hard enough keeping them all happy over a full season. Even if Dzeko and Johnson/Milner are let go. If they add RVP and also keep Balotelli then I think that's too many stars to keep happy. Players like Milner and Johnson know they've not got many other clubs at this level to go to where they'll be regulars and get the salary so I wouldn't imagine they'll kick up too much fuss. But when the likes of RVP, nasri, tevez are going to have to take time on the bench then I think over a season that could be an issue for Mancini.

My Arsenal supporting mate just said while we chatted about it, that Arsenal relations with city are in tatters after the Nasri deal and that Wenger said at the shareholders meeting that he would be holding onto him of possible as a contract has been offered. If he refused to accept it he would make sure he lost him on a free than sell to City again

You actually believe Wenger would tell his bosses that he would rather be stubborn and lose him for free than receive £40m+. He's stubborn and mental but not that stubborn and mental and there is no way they would let him make that decision. Ridiculous and complete bollocks.

It wouldnt come to that anyway would it, he could easily refuse to sell to City but sell him to one of the other gazillion clubs that would make a reasonable offer for him.

Worked brilliantly for getting Bebe.
