Robin van Persie

I am not sure if Van Persie has got over his injury problems. Last season was his most appearances in a season for Arsenal.

What a huge coincidence that he has his best season ever right before he needs to renegotiate his contract or force his way out of the club eh?

I think it would be a huge risk for any team to give him a huge contract because I would be shocked if he didn't revert back to the crocked Van Persie.

“I do not know what I will do - I cannot predict the future,” Van Persie told The Times.

“Everybody makes his own history and only afterwards can you see how that went.”

Having seen former team-mates Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri move to rivals Manchester City in the summer, the Dutchman refused to rule out joining them at the Etihad Stadium.

“I do not know,” he said, “for one thing, as an indication, when I came to Arsenal we immediately beat City. But in recent years much has happened in England.

“Nevertheless, I think the Premiership is still the best league in the world, it gives me everything I want.”

The Gunners captain refused to be drawn into criticism of Arsène Wenger’s transfer policy, with many questioning his failure to secure adequate replacements for departed players earlier in the summer.

“I’m not a technical director and coach, I have no input in to it,” the forward insisted.

I agree that he will start getting injured again sooner or later.

But are you suggesting his injuries are somehow not real injuries? Because otherwise, how could he control when he gets them? How could he decide to be fit when he needs to, to maximise his earning potential, if the whole thing wasnt a sham anyway?

You cant control when you are injured. So surely him being fit last season, and this summer being make or break for him, is a coincidence. Which is what you said... but it sounded like you were suggesting it wasnt.

It obviously is - but surely whomever he jopined will have weighed that up? Whether its us, City or anyone else - it will have been considered.

He's had a poor injury record, I often think it depends what sprt of injuries a player has had as to whether thats an issue. For example, repeated knee and hamstring injuires usually seems like an issue that plagues a player year on year.

The point here is that a top player may be available for a fairly meagre fee, and chances like that don't often come along.

For our sake we have to hope City aren't interested, if they are then we have no chance.

I don't think they are, but then again I cannot see us signing him

They are extremely interested even more so now that Fergie confirmed our interest to the media. But for some reason RVP seems more interested in United and Juve and City need to sort out Adebayor's,Tevez and Dzeko's future first especially Adebayor who refuses to take a paycut to join a new club like Spurs.

How can you think that city aren't in for RvP, what gives you that impression? They are certs to be in for him in my opinion.

I can see City selling (or trying) the likes of Adebayor, Santa Cruz & Dzeko before they buy.

If only he had called his kid Bruce rather than Kai, missed a cracking chance there Wayne.

He's perfect for Batman. He comes from a crime inflicted city, filled with mentally unstable people including the joke (Suarez). Partner him with Robin...

Or Suarez and Carroll aka Ratman & Dobbin.

The kid's name is Kai Wayne Rooney, so it would be Bruce Wayne Rooney.

Wouldn't hurt to do a little Wiki research before you make fun of him; otherwise you just end up looking like tits ;)

So we've gone from RVP joining United and where he will play to Wayne Rooney's kid!

Kai is such a shit name, just about anything would be better.

Poor little fellow, he is going to be ugly, his mother sounds like a dying cat and his name is Kai.

No...

I don't think anyone would sign him and pay him near £200,000 a week if they expected him to be injured all the time. The people that want to sign him, want him to be fit and play.

Why would anyone want to spend that much money signing him, only to hope he would get injured so that Welbeck could get some games? It's completely daft.

:wenger:

Good to see Man Utd & Man City involved in the bidding, he will be sold but will just mean we will be able to get more out Juve we would of otherwise :) I do think/believe that even if the Manchester clubs offer £25 mill and Juve only offer £17mill we'd sell to them over your lot.

Ridiculous statement. The player will choose where he goes.

Depends what bid they accept doesn't it?

If they don't want to sell to us or city they will just turn the bids down.

Yep. I don't think they'll be too concerned where he goes though, especially if City/United are offering more than Juventus. They could have forced Nasri to go abroad, but they took the money instead. I expect them to do the same with RVP.

If united get Van Persie from ARSENAL and don't win the league, then ferguson should be sacked. This isn't LIVERPOOL getting Carroll . It's united getting the best player in the league( formwise) last season.

This one is in for a rude awakening when Ferguson retires.

Arsenal turning higher offers down? It seems to me that this club now only exists to make money.

They could very well do mate. If they really don't fancy selling to us they dont have to.

I know if Rooney went from us I'd turn down offers from premier league clubs for him...

I rather just keep Berbatov if we were seriously after Van Persie.

Van Persie's an injury prone cnut who had never scored 20 league goals before last season. In fact, before then, he'd had more seasons with goal tallys in single digits rather than double. He'd only scored 20 in all competitions twice before that and he's been at Arsenal the better part of a decade. He only became what he was last season when he was the lone attacking threat in the team and everything went through him. The lowball 10m offer seems about right and even then I'm not sure it'd be worth the headache it'd cause in the team.

They can if they want to. But it looks that they have the shittiest owner ever, and I think that he's more interested in money than anything else. So, I don't think that they will turn down a bigger offer because they don't want to sell him to a 'rival'.
