Obvious WUM....is Obvious

I'm really not on the WUM mate. I think City is the new force in football and Chelsea are getting it back after a few years of feck-ups. I'm not happy about it as I respect United for what they've done, but the moneybags clubs are winning and there's no going back.

I think I've heard something like that before

I know Fergie has come out and confirmed the bid but this just seems so unlikely to me I can't quite believe it. If we sign him it would be a serious coup. We would have a very talented attacking line up next season.

One day it will be true. That day is closer than ever.
One day it may well happen but if anything this year we should be stronger. I sure would hope this doesn't happen. Would love to have arsenal united rivalry back instead.

Same here but those days are gone. When SAF leaves you lot things will change...I think we'll be fecked when we lose Wenger eventually. Although we will be bought by a moneybags since the potential for a cash cow once the stadium is paid off is very enticing.

It's my opinion that if RvP is truly interested in winning things then he will go to City....or maybe Chelsea. If he can use your interest to make that happen then he will.

Perhaps, but what has that got to do with SAF making a low bid?

I find it odd that you consider Chelski to have greater chances of winning things than us at present. They'll be better than last year, no doubt, but they have a lot of ground to make up to even be considered level with us, let alone surpassing.

Chelsea looking to be back to their best?? They've just come off their worst ever season since Abramovic and they're best players are over the hill. Signing expensive, unproven youngsters is a gamble and even if they do impress they won't change Chelsea's fortunes overnight.

The fact still stands that any player wanting to progress their career by winning trophies would have a great chance of that at United. It's been like that for about 15 years and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

If you think winning the FA Cup, champions league and finishing 5th is Chelsea's "worst ever season" then this, sir, is for you :wenger:

To be fair to him mate, Chelski have just won the FA cup and the European CL, whereas we won nothing (bar charity shield at the start of the season). We played one part of the tango in an epic season yes, but still ended up with nothing of the major 4.

Agree with you, we'll be strong next season if injuries are ok, very strong but the point still stands about them. Winning the FA cup and CL is very special AND they've just spent again. Roman looks interested.

I wish we'd had a rubbish season like Chelsea had.

They did indeed; when they realised that the league was lost they totally focused on the cups. They also reverted back to type by relying on their older players in a backs-to-the-wall tactic.

RDM is going to have to totally change his mentality of last season if he is to get the back out of the likes of Marin and Hazard. The transition will be interesting but it's incredibly naive to suggest they'll surpass us because Abramovich has decided to spend again. We will be more determined than ever before.

They won't be able to win the league by sitting back launching the odd counter attack though.

It will be interesting to see how they adapt for the new season with the new signings. Will RDM be able to play somewhat attacking?

You finished 6th. And I was talking about league form - much more representative of team quality than cup form. If you think you won the CL because you were the best team in Europe then I think that smiley is more appropriate for you.

Why don't you bet him on who will finsih higher...you or them?

I'm going though a process of blocking the league season out of my mind.

Besides, 5th, 6th or 10th is not even remotely close to being our worst season ever (can't believe i'm arguing that we are shitter than an opposition fan seems to think).

I don't blame you to be fair, I think there is a massive chunk of United fans who forget we finished 3rd in 2002.

I'd like to get the FA Cup back to a standard where you can say that winning it is better than finishing 4th, let alone winning the Champions League along side it. Saying this was Chelsea's worst ever season is madness, it could go down as one of their best.

Only way to achieve that is give the FA Cup winners the 4th CL spot. It would make a lot more sense too IMO.

I don't think it's too absurd to suggest Chelsea will do better than us this season, particularly if the rumoured moves of Hulk/Neymar and Maicon went through there's no reason for them not to be up there. That said, if we signed RVP I really think we'd win it.

Oh for feck sake. Round and round goes the spastic carousel. "We're only bidding because we know we can't get them".

Are you so involved in banging the "we have no money" drum that now it has to be a ploy when we bid for players? Give it a rest.

Look, I hope Im wrong on this but there again, we've seen the pattern in the past. We went for Nasri and Sneijder despite the former being courted by Sheiks and the latter having a salary which already exceeding our top salary. We remember how it ended up right?

Can you imagine if any one of Cardiff, Portsmouth, Stoke, West Ham or Millwall had managed to make the Champions league via the Fa cup, non starter I think.

Same applies to City. I don't think you need him anymore than they do.

They are the champions and if they arent a lot better than this season it'll be a big dissappointment for them.

1) Tevez situation over
2) Nasri would be expected to do more
3) They've now won the league so they know what it takes and it'll only get easier
4) Regardless of Van Persie they will strengthen

We're the ones that need to make a big play if we want the title back. Not City.

I can, but I think all the other teams in the competition would be about a million times more motivated to win it. On those rare occasions when a major underdog would win it, I'd quite enjoy it. It would also - if they'd eventually qualify - allow lesser teams to make a step up with the CL pay package.

It's no more of a joke than teams who consistently finish 3rd or 4th but never have a remote chance of winning the league compete season in and season out in the CL and also win that competition....

It's far from easy to defend a title. Only Utd and Chelsea (once) have successfully defended the title in the last 28 years.

If Froggie signs RvP, he'll be a starter most definitely. As will Rooney. So where does that leave Kawabunga? Trying to turn him into a central midfielder? That won't end well tbh.

Depends...
maybe he has in mind a 4 1 4 1 formation with carrick (jones) in front of the defence, 4 midfielders wingers switching between them all the time out of giggs, young, scholes, kagawa, valencia, nani and cleveley..
lone forward - van persie or welbeck.
I wont be surprised if fergie is moving towards a more skilful, less physical side - skilful players have never been more protected by refs.

Can we raise our bid by say £8 million and ask for Song as well?or maybe not

So the only team, other than one managed by possibly the greatest football manager of all time, to do it was bankrolled by a billionaire. Which only suggests that statistic isn't as relevant given we're talking about City, a team bankrolled by an even richer guy. It's never easy to win a title forget defend one successful, but it is easier when you've got such financial to fall back on every summer.

Is that supposed to be funny?
