Robin van Persie

As will City and any other big club his agent is talking to.

I'm not sure City will want him unless they get rid of Tevez. They'd have three pretty similar players on their books if they managed to sign RvP.

We probably just put the crappy bid in so that the fans are kept happy knowing that we are actually trying to buy good players.

That turned out well.

Rooney RvP is a mouth watering partnership on paper and if we could sign a CM as well it would be a perfect summer.

And yet we have only signed one senior player.

Rumours can be just as exciting. We have signed Kagawa who is a European player of the year nominee. Also Powell who is a speculative youngster. Also its seems pretty likely we have tried to sign Hazard, Lucas and RVP this window. Really shows a statement of intent. Also the we have no money nonsense appears to be bollocks

Have to say I'm suprised but it's fergies headache on how he keeps them happy. Just hope we have enough left over to bring in cover for carrick but with fergie saying he wants two, one of them looking like rvp and the other a lb then don't think it'll happen. Oh wel maybe we'll out score everyone.

Look at Fergies recent quotes on Rooney. He's not going to let him miss to many games because, as he said, it takes him 3 or 4 games to resemble a Premier League striker once again. Though Fergie might not have put it like that.

Thats fair enough, but now we have an adiquate replacement, if kagawa is playing well and Rooney is out of form or coming back from an injury he should play those 4/5 games in the reserves instead of the first team carrying him. As Ive always said, when he is good he is amazing, when hes bad hes fecking awful.

How the feck did you get promoted?

Luck.

Okay, definitely being a bit facetious - but come on? Robin Van Persie? After just buying Kagawa, and already having the wingers/ forwards that we do?

Why?

Hopefully the reason SAF has confirmed this because he is confident the player wants to come to us and not as PR for the glazers!!!

He's left legged. could do a job at LB!

Interesting though. I'm wondering how the hell we will play if he did come.

Here is the official article with confirmation.

Boss confirms van Persie bid

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed making a bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

The Gunners' skipper has refused to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium and is also said to be interesting Juventus and Manchester City.

"Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we've made a bid for him," the manager told MUTV.

"We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There's no point talking about something that might not happen.

"There are other clubs interested in the player. We've shown an interest and that's where we're at at the moment."

A team of:

-----Carrick---Cleverley-----
----------Kagawa----------
-Valencia--------Van Persie-
----------Rooney-----------

Would leave Nani, Young, Welbeck and Hernandez on the bench. Not to mention Giggs.
Plus, RvP is hardly a whipper snapper.

feck knows but having the attacking options of

Rooney
Van Persie
Hernandez
Welbeck
Kagawa
Valencia
Young
Nani
Lucas (?)

That would be absolutely incredible, bordering on Barcelona levels of depth and quality

And supplying them/ protecting them would be Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley and Scholes.

Lets stay in this thread and f.a.p all night until the signing becomes a reality.

You can never miss out on the chance of signing a world class player regardless of his position.

Well you can if you don't particularly need them and ccould reinvest that money in a more needed area. Its not like he'a on a free, he's gonna cost 20+ mil and big wages. I'll be happy of he comes but at the same time if we don't invest in a more urgent area such as cm then personally I would say that it's an u necessary signing.

I haven't been this excited since Sneijder took the 'Milan' off his Twitter profile.

Think it would be more likely to see nani for Valencia as in that sort of front 3 nani is more of a natural fit, particularly as he and rvp can switch. Rvp will probably be best cutting in from the right. Doubt he'a going to be going down the left putting in crosses.

Well these bids we've put in for Hazard, Van Persie, Moura, suggest that we do have the money to invest in CM - especially as the RVP and Moura bids are seemingly simultaneous. I guess he just has faith and can't find better options that are worth it. I'm also thinking he thinks Modric isn't worth it at 35 mil, or Tottenham won't sell domestically.

I'm pretty suprised Chelsea have not even been linked with him.

Roman, get you chequebook out for once you tight bastard!

Oh you guys will come out of nowhere and RvP will announce on Twitter that he's signing for the Champions of Europe

Harry Redknapp's made a bid.
