Robin van Persie

If Persie's coming, Berba is propably going and we definitely have funds on that type of surprise move.

Rooney, Persie, Welbeck, Hernandez... Would be almost like Cole, Yorke, Sheringham, Solskjaer.

I think it would be amazing if RVP came and I would welcome him, esp if Berbatov's transfer can help ease the cost, thus leaving enough funds for a quality central midfielder, whom Im convinced we will buy having learnt that Fletcher still has no clarity on his future.

Kawaga, Van Persie, Powell and a quality CM would be an amazing summers business and put us in very good stead until SAF retires, it just be quality, perfectly balanced in terms of age and experience profile squad capable of fighting on all fronts.

Some are worried about Hernandez and Welbecks future. Im not. Whilst I like them a lot and hope they have long careers with us, Hernandez's injury and Welbecks inconsistent shot:goal conversion rate arguably cost us the title last year.

I dont mind, we can't win every year and Welbeck needed the games just like Hernandez the season before. But they are now established in the first XI and can't just get games for 'development', every player need to be in the team on merit to give us the best chance of winning on all fronts. Plenty of games for all 4 to get plenty of opportunity.

We usually say he's got a slight knock and then drop him to prevent the media shit storm. I could be completely making that up though.

Aye ! Now, that's what I'm talking about ! :D

What's more interesting, Persie is extremely determined to win trophies which would definitely help us not only in Premiership but like You said, on Champions League level, also.

He's fully established player with scoring in mind and that's what we need, too. We're aware, that goal difference mattered, last season.

I mean... why have excellent attacking formation when we can have even BETTER, with more stings.

I'm just glad that Sir Alex is taking serious steps to at least try making a significant upgrade of the current squad and make things, improve.

How come if a United player only has a year left on his contract, or simply wants to leave, we virtually give them away (Ronaldo aside), yet everyone else demands (as usually get) top dollar. No justice in ye ol footballing world :(

We don't let our stars go to the last year of there contracts.

Its a false choice. We can easily maintain four strikers through rotation over a 60 plus fixture season.

I'm not so sure Welbeck would see it that way. I do agree that if we were to play 442 through out the season, all of them would get plenty of games. But we didn't last season and we are even less likely to do this season after signing Kagawa (let alone if we also sign Lucas) so where does that leave Welbeck and Hernandez? If RVP would be happy to play on the left in a 4231 formation, Welbeck could see more game time, but I'd rather doubt RVP would fancy playing there coming off his best goal scoring season to date.

We probably just put the crappy bid in so that the fans are kept happy knowing that we are actually trying to buy good players.

Yup, I don't even think we could afford Kagawa or Powell but our crappy bids were somehow accepted.

Yeah he could go on for a couple of more seasons, I think. Livvie was telling me that he's become rubbish because he misplaced a few passes last season...but who doesn't? that said, when he's having a mare...he's really bad.

The biggest issue with Giggs is not only that when he's bad, he's really bad. It's also that when he is really bad, he's often left on for much too long. If Giggs is having a bad day, he's having a bad day. He's not going to suddenly play much better.

And then you'd be taking games from Nani/Valencia. If RVP comes then as fans it'll be great to see but I really can't see how Fergie can balance it out. You can argue that theres enough games but I think there are a number of players like Rooney, rvp (If he comes) and Nani who you'd exect most games, even Kagawa would have a legitimate claim to expect to feature and start most games, but if they did then it'd be very hard for the others to get enough time and you're sort of banking on injuries.

I'm very hesitant about getting excited about Van Persie. That is to say, if we did sign him I would be a complete transfer muppet. I just don't think we have much of a chance. If It's between us and City, you know City will pay him much higher wages than us (well, probably, they can always up our bid anyway).

I doubt you wasted your time with a bid. A quick call to his agent would have told you City are offering £225K/week wages.

Probably a midfielder, according to lot we haven't got any so he'll fit right in :wenger:

fecking dunce.

You know that is bollocks. Kagawa will play behind the striker and will take one of the strikers place to do so.

People keep saying this, but with Kagawa, when Rooney goes through his annual shit phase at least with Kagawa we have another top class alternative rather than just waiting for him to snap out of it........

Look at Fergies recent quotes on Rooney. He's not going to let him miss to many games because, as he said, it takes him 3 or 4 games to resemble a Premier League striker once again. Though Fergie might not have put it like that.

I may be mad or just wrong, but I really would rather see Welbeck establish himself than invest a lot of money in a 28-29 year old.

are barca and madrid not in for him because they don't rate him, his injury record, and his age?

Those two always have a spot for someone of this quality.

Barca wouldn't need him with Villa returning from injury and Madrid have Ronaldo, Benzema and Higuain so they definately wouldn't need him unless they sold Higuain.

I can understand United wanting a striker. Berbatov is going, Owen has gone, and Hernandez is pretty average outside of the box. I'd still say our priority is left back and cover for Carrick.

That doesn't preclude, injury, suspension, or fatigue though.

Fergie confirms the bid on MUTV.

"AFC have given it out we've made a bid for van Persie, we've tried to keep it as close to a moment that we could conclude a deal"

"We've shown an interest but there are other clubs interested."

If reports are true United have made an offer, they will have had encouragement from RvP.

Really? Holy shit  this is the most exciting transfer window since tevez, hargreaves, nani and ando signed

"Obviously Arsenal have given out the fact that we've made a bid for him," the manager told MUTV.

"We try to keep business as close as possible to us until the moment we conclude a deal. There's no point talking about something that might not happen.

"There are other clubs interested in the player. We've shown an interest and that's where we're at at the moment."

This confirms RvP is definitely interested in joining United and will have agreed a package in principle. This has legs.

What. The. Hell.

That's it. Fergie's lost it.

Unless Rooney is leaving.

If he goes to City then this just sets up the "snubbed United" headlines they will love.
