Robin van Persie

I know that swap player deals does not happen often but it would be good if we give Arsenal Young and they give us him.

Then we buy Moura. All muppets would be glad if this will happen.

This is crazy. I can't believe we are bidding for van Persie and Lucas. No money/value my arse, Fergie just doesn't value central midfielders... wingers and strikers is where it's at for him.

That may be the case this year, but with Scholes and Giggs leaving next summer, he will have to buy at least two midfielders.

Because he's arguably the best striker in world football right now?

I agree with this. For me, doing something at a high level every game is better than doing something at an even higher level every now and again. I'd disagree with anyone saying there's a better striker in the world. Only problem is that he'll be 29 come the start of the season. How many more seasons will he be at this level? I'd say two, possibly three, and £20m with 'fair' wages (~£150k), he'd be very good value. There'd be no resale value but you wouldn't need it if he helped win two of the next three titles.

Before we had park / giggs / ronaldo and nani as wingers, but now 3 of those have gone. Now we have nani, valencia, young and ... insert 1 more.

Park and giggs were bit part players really on the wing. Leaving only Ronaldo and Nani. Say we get Lucas, who exactly is the bit part players out of Nani, Valencia, Young, Kagawa. Consider also Welbeck can play wide forward too.

Considering of course that we play something other than 4-4-2, which is why i believe we have bought Kagawa. that leaves space for 2 wide forwards operating either side of RVP or Rooney.

So that is 2 spots for Kagawa, Nani, Valencia, Young, Welbeck and possibly Lucas. I know it's all speculation at this point and i have serious doubts over whther we will get Lucas anyway, but i think it is fair to say we have shown far more intention to acquire that type of player than we have any other.

I might be completely wrong but i would not be surprised if Nani made way, simply because we are still looking for other similar type players and he has not yet signed a new deal.

Why will he? Scholes has retired already and he didn't buy anyone to replace him.

Because we had Cleverley, Ando, Pogba, and Fletch in the mix at the time.

Next year we may well have Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson, Fletcher and Kagawa in the mix as central midfielders, as well as any youth players who may come through. It's far from a certainty.

You forgot Powell, although Fletch looks more doubtful right now.

The big difference between last year and next year being that permanently losing Scholes and Giggs will result in an experience deficit that will need to be filled by new players.

We're the only club to've made a bid. Don't believe what Arsenal have leaked.. they just want a bidding war and us to up our own bid.

Basically, there's no bidding war at the moment.

How do you know that?

If there isn't now, there certainly will be.

I'm not sure there is a bidding war.

We've placed a bid for £15m, and that's been rejected. I'm sure his situation, and the length of his contract will come into play with our limits, and already has done with the bid we've tabled so far. Yes, he could still go for something like the suggested figure, but I doubt it will be anyone bar City going for him at that evaluation. He's not worth 30 million in his current situation, which is becoming increasingly desperate, and I don't think Arsenal can afford to play it as if he is.

Like I said, I don't actually think he will go for that high, but I brought up Young and Nasri as examples of players who went for considerably more than they're worth despite being in their final year. it's not THAT unlikely a scenario.

People have been saying this for about six years now, and every year one or both, usually both, are among our best players.

One year it will have to be true, one would think, but every year it's said so authoritatively and it's based on nothing.

Yes, but Giggs was slightly awful this season.
