Robin van Persie

I honestly can't see the lure of Juve? Serie A is heading downhill, they don't pay extreme wages with Buffon being the highest earner at 6 million euro a year and they are trying to convince him to lower that to 4 million euro a year. They also have a small stadium and probably won't go far in CL next season and the weather in Turin isn't much different to the English weather. Would be a really strange transfer if he joined Juve over City and United.

Juve has a sound strategy plan which should on paper make them a dominant force in the Serie A + by signing with them RVP will avoid playing with his former bosses rival club.

Doesn't matter what RVN did afterwards, SAF wanted him gone; Real didn't force our hand, same goes for Beckham who had actually been sold off to Barca first.

I agree. One player leaves and it becomes a template for our entire future.

By the way, are you ever going to get your former moniker back? The Complete Bullshitters seem to have disappeared. Or have they been reprieved?

At any rate, as Chief Dan George said, Endeavour to Persevere.

we still got great service out of Teddy Sheringham when he was older, i dont see the fact that RVP is 28 being a huge issue if they feel that he can offer them a good 5 years

Hey, that's slightly unfair on the Caf, Plech. :D

Where would we play him? It make no sense. Unless there's something we don't yet know about Rooney.

Rooney, RVP, Welbeck, Hernandez, Kagawa, Nani, Valencia, Young (berbs, giggs too) all competing for 3 or 4 spots?

Maybe Fergie will stick him at CM...

This has to be bollocks. There is no way we're in for him

Bids have been placed. United is one of them.

No we are not in for him.. Just Hazard type crap again!!!

Jeez... These papers love saying we keep bidding for these top players!! getting pretty annoying... :o

Only way it could work is if someone were to go. Personally if young got sold and we got rvp in I'd be happy. Although even then it would be tough and would require us to move the likes of welbeck an kagawa into wide areas on order to play them. Before we signed kagawa this signing made sense but with him it just doesn't. As much as you rotate squads the likes of Rooney, nani, rvp and kagawa would expect to start more than not if fit. Valencia too you would expect to play most games and hints expect that as well. Then we have welbeck who still hasn't signed a contract. He's going to need a good amount of game time in order to develop, Hernandez too, welbeck particularly, with his contract almost ending will probably be a bit more hesitant if rvp did sign.

I'm counting him as a forward because when he plays we will only use one striker, understand? So when he plays it would be 4 strikers competing for one spot.

Thanks for the insight into your plans Fergie. Any chance of signing a midfielder?

Tbh that's his natural position and where he played last year so it would make sense for him to play there. If he has been bought to pay in cm then you have to question why we have clev ando giggs and scholes all in the squad as they're effectively competing for one spot.

I don't take issue with where he may play or what his best role is. I do take issue with somebody acting like he knows what Alex Ferguson's plans are.

Don't want Van Persie:

We've no issues in the goals department
he is injury prone
would likely demand at least 2nd highest wages in the squad
is 29 next month
would stifle Welbeck/Hernandez's changes and likely push Kagawa out of position
The money could be used far better elsewhere.

He'd be an expensive, luxury signing and a huge gamble.

I don't think we will get him, but if he wants to come here we shouldn't hesitate to take him as he would clearly improve the quality of the squad. 20 million pounds isn't a huge a fee for a player of his quality. I agree his injury record might be an issue, but we would have the depth to cope with his absence when he is injured.

Age shouldn't be an issue, I think sports science has come a long way since 2005.

When you spend 30 + million you want someone who can give you his peak years. Van Persie is close to 30 years old now. How many more years does he have at his peak? And what if he takes time to settle in? In that case, do we have any of his peak years at United?

 You seem like a very confused little person.

Do you even know what that post means? You don't take issue with discussing his position or role in the team, but when someone does so it means they think they know Fergusons plans, which you take exception to..

Kagawa plays in the hole behind the striker, which is all I said.

You are a smug little feck that needs a good slap.

No, I do not take issue with you discussing it or anyone else. I take issue with you stating as fact where he will play and basically calling anyone who disagrees stupid.

That is not all you've said. He'll play where Fergie wants him to play in any given game. You haven't a clue what his plan is.

He won't cost £30m+.

Bottomline Rooney and Percy. A great combo.

It would be amazing. Question is for how long, though. And the cost of course. As things stand, though, he's the best striker around IMO.

Whatever people say about the cost, the fact is he will single-handedly win you points in a season. Two of the last three seasons we've lost the league by a point in total. If he costs £20m and £150k a week to make the difference between us nearly being the best team in the league for the next few years and being first loser it's always going to be a bargain.
