Team next season 3-1-4-2? ;)

-------------------De Gea--------------

--------------Rio---Vidic-----Jones----------

-------------------Carrick-------------------

Nani------Kagawa----Moura--------Van Pearse

-------------Rooney-----Welbeck-----------------

Peter Storey is ready to shoot everyone that posts in here. I don't want RVP beyond the fact he would wind up Gooners by joining.

If he does, I will buy a United shirt with his name on it and constantly walk past the Emirates as I planned on doing with Nasri

Mirror seem to come out with alot of 'Exclusives' that are utter crap. Didn't we agree a fee and terms with both Inter and Sneijder last season? I sadly believed it too.

I remember they had a wee side story, with the headline Eto'o set to sign for Man Utd a while back in his Mallorca days. If only! One of the best strikers I've ever seen, Eto'o that is.

I honestly just can't get excited about it, I love Welbeck far too much.

Van Persie, if regularly fit, is a classact - one of the best forwards in the world.

Wouldn't at all be surprised if Fergie wanted him, players that good don't some along at that price too often, and for once it seems he's a player motivated by more than money.

Welbeck will still get plenty of game time, he's clearly highly rated.

Really cant see it happening. He's too old and has serious question marks over his fitness. His wages would be beyond what we would be willing to pay. I think he's either going to City or staying put at Le Arse.

It would be exciting in an FM sort of way but he is clearly not what we need right now. It would be typical SAF to sign another striker and continue to leave us mediocre in the middle of the park, for this reason I'm half expecting this to happen.

What have the Romans ever done for us? Eh?

Why would that be typical of Sir Alex?

Good news for Arsenal: Robin Van Persie has signed a new 2 yearr contract.

Unlimited texts and 500 minutes a month

So you have had to go back 22 years to give me an example, I think that says something about the patterns of SAF's spending.

Dont move the goalposts, you said in safs reign......that criteria has been met

You asked, I gave you an answer.

What does it say about Sir Alex' pattern of spending?

I would be excited by this signing. He would be 29 by the time the season starts but I think a lot of people panic and think that a player is nearing the end at that age. Players like Scholes and Giggs prove otherwise. The only thing putting me off would be the backlash from the "no midfielder" brigade. Saying that Van Persie is top top quality

Seems to be following the same pattern as nasri. And much like that transfer its nailed on he'll end up at city cos of the obscene wages they'll offer him.

Well in my view i don't give a feck about the money or the wages, let the Glazers worry about that. All i am interested in is that he is a top quality player who will improve our options.

He is far better suited to playing up front on his own than either Rooney or Welbeck, and he can score goals on his own from that position without being dependent on service.

His touch is fantastic, he can score from outside the box, has great set piece delivery, and his hold up and link up play is superb. If we can get him, we should get him imo. He is a brilliant player, and although he has had his injury problems, and may again, on the plus side for us we wouldn't be solely dependent on him staying fit, as he would not be our only serious goalscoring option, unlike at Arsenal.

You mean he likes to have players that are good at scoring goals?

I mean he has often strengthened that area when other areas of the squad are clearly in greater need of stengthening. I think part of it is to do with the fact that he was a striker himself and finds it easier to judge forward players than other positions. I think it's the same reason he has usually bought good cb's; as a forward he must have an eye for a good defender.

So when he made the judgement of buying players like Keano, Ince and Carrick, that was down to luck? Or fullbacks like Irwin, Evra, the Silva twins and Heinze? Or goalies like Schmeichel, van der Sar, de Gea?

I would rather keep Berbatov than get RVP.

Re. Berbatov, I hope he gets to leave if that's what he wants. He's too good a player to sit on the bench or in the stands.

van Persie, fantastic player. But I don't want us to buy back the title. I want us to give the likes of Welbeck the chance to develop into what I think will be a superb striker.

 Wtf? So you would rather keep a player who is clearly not going to play, as opposed to having someone who is going to feature regularly and possibly improve our chances of not only winning back the league, but helping us in the CL too?

Whatever you think about RVP, it is irrefutable that he is brilliant up front on his own and in the CL we are going to need that at times.

As much as i rate Berbatov myself, SAF simply doesn't want to play him Twig. Considering that fact, there isn't really a lot to say about Berba that is any more relevant than that.

Whatever you say about SAF's buys, the bottom line is he has bought only 1 midfielder who has cemented a place in our first team since Keano. That is 1 in 20 years. Carrick.

I don't think there is another position on the pitch which even comes close to matching that stat.

I'm not sure he is what we need, but if we could knock a few million off the price with them accepting Berbatov then all parties may be quite happy. Having said that they have already bought a couple of strikers.
