Robin van Persie

Has Podolski ever scored 25 goals in a season?

Yea but that was in the 2. Bundesliga.

His last season was his best season in terms of goalscoring. He needs to build on that to reach 25. Plenty of games this time to do so.

It's not a loss on the scale of Fabregas, we'll get over it and he'll probably go down hill fast.

It's not a loss that can be looked at in isolation though. Losing Fabregas was huge, losing Nasri also hurt you in terms of your creativity in the final third.

Luckily for Arsenal, Van Persie really stepped up last season and almost single-handedly got you into the CL slots. There's no denying how influential he was for Arsenal in 2011/12. Losing him on top of all the other recent departures is a hammer blow, mainly because of the way it blunts your attack on the pitch but also because of the message it sends out to all the other players in your squad.

Yeah, someone mentioned it earlier but Song apparently has two years left on his deal. What happens if they get to Christmas and haven't gotten him to sign a new one? The same thing would probably happen next summer.

Yep, without a long-term contract his value will drop and he'll be going for a Song!

I'll get my coat.

Arsenal investors reproach Stan Kroenke over Robin van Persie

• Usmanov and Moshiri have 'deep reservations' over club
• 'Where are safeguards to ensure this doesn't happen again']
Usmanov can feck off as well.

How many years does Wilshere have on his contract? We should really try to get him, when he'll inevitably decide to leave.

Look tbh RVP is just doing what is in his best interests. This is the last major contract of his career and he might as well get the best deal both financially and in terms of on the field prospects.

People say a move to city is for the money but tbh they are the champions and look most likely to win the league again and happen to pay the most. RVP has been with Arsenal 8 years and I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to move.

Fans always seek loyalty from players but clubs don't always reciprocate it. When clubs don't want a player they will discard them. Look at Berba, had his best goalscoring season, gets frozen out the next and now we're supposedly looking to flog him. Where's the loyalty from us ?

I don't think its all about the money because Arsenal aren't genuine title contenders and haven't won a trophy in 7 years. Nothing at the club suggests things are about to change, the Rooney situation was different because it was evident that we could compete at the top of the premier league and had won the title. Rooney just wanted more money clearly.

If it hasn't dawned on you, you can't compete with City and Chelsea in the transfer/wages market either.

He'll probably go to Manchester City. They honestly are a feeder club to Manchester City. It's fecking hilarious.

It won't be so hilarious when we eventually lose a player to them (Tevez wasn't ours so doesn't count).

Yep, for all the laughing at Arsenal, we should all stop and think what this means for almost every club in the league bar Chelsea and City. City's spending is a huge issue with the wages they offer. Sure, SAF would not want to sell to them but i wouldnt be surprised if in the future, we end up having to sell someone to them too.

They are fecking Cancer really.

I don't think we would in all honestly. The rivalry is too strong. Also I was just kidding mostly, it's horrible for a club to operate that way like City do.

Up to last season.

Yeah, cause the gap between us and City was so huge that we're never going to get close again, not to mention Chelsea. You're going to win the league.

tbf, would anyone REALLY give a feck what Piers Morgan thinks of them?

So did Utd compete for the league or not Peter?

ps. Great attempt to derail a thread about Arsenal's best player leaving.

Keep the thread on topic lads. We have enough threads on Arsenal being shit and United being in terminal decline for 10 years.

Clearly tapped up by City some time ago.

It's the natural order of things.

City have Arsenal as their feeder club and United have Spurs.

Desperately dissapointing for Arsenal fans.

Just as they started getting a bit of momentum towards the end of the season, started looking a real team - now there lynchpin is leaving again.

There fans must be so bloody pissed off, but there really isnt much they can do about it.

When will this stadium start to reap its benifits?

It's a bit silly. Only one club can win the league, and if Arsenal don't want to/can't compete with City, then that is understandable. If top 4 is the limit of what is possible then that is ok. What is stupid is keeping players that won't sign new deals. Also it reflects poorly on the players, say what you will about Ronaldo, he ensured we got a large wedge despite wanting out for a few seasons.
