Why are you just ignoring Kagawa? Or are you saying he is inexperienced? Kagawa behind Rooney is a fantastic forward line, there will be no better in th league IMO.

Better than Silva behind Aguero? With Tevez, Balotelli and Nasri all lined up to share the burden? If nothing else, the former have already proven they combine well in the PL.

If we sell to City, they're already loaded with top players in his position so it wouldn't make much difference.

If we sell to Juve, he's out of the country and can't score against us or help direct rivals.

United may well not be close to Arsenal right now, as shown by the 19 league points, but why would we strengthen a team we're looking to get closer to?

Because, at the end of the day the Arsenal board is all about the cash.

The whole posturing about winning, is just that.

Gillespie, do you have a number for the institute to which you need to be returned?

You are also underestimating Welbeck especially, he may be slightly inexperienced, but given the way he performed last year I don't see that as an issue. He is already good enough to play for us, what does his age have to do with it?

But regardless, he will be third choice behind Kagawa and Rooney, so it isn't as if we are reliant on him to perform every week.

Kagawa is a very good player, he's only 23 and only played a couple of seasons in Europe before joining us. Living in a new country, playing in a new league and playing with new players who knows how many goals he'll get.

Van Persie if he stays fit gets you 20+ goals next season. Welbeck and Hernandez between them got around 20- because they are young and/or inexperienced.

Welbeck is a brilliant player try not to make an assumption that because I want to take pressure off him that I think he's shit. Go read my posts in the Welbeck and Euro 2012 threads if you think I don't rate him.

It would be better for the club and his development if he can get more experience without the pressure of needing to score 20-30 goals for a couple more seasons. I think part of Hernandez's problem is that he puts too much pressure on himself to provide goals, goalscoring is about composure in your finishing and composure can come with experience.

Give them a couple of years where the Striking pressure is on the 2 senior strikers aged 27 and 29 and they can bang them in coming off the bench or against the weaker teams and build up the experience and composure/ maturity to be more consistent in the future.

A different scenario:

Arsenal are playing Utd along insisting on a fee they know Utd won't pay (£25m?).

They hope Utd 'persevere' in the belief that Arsenal will finally crack at the 31 August deadline and be forced to sell at a lower price at the bitter end.

Arsenal have no intention of selling RVP but happy to string Fergie along

RVP is faced with either signing the contract on offer or being in a worse position in 12 months time when he is 30

Lo and behold and realising that his chance of trophies is (because of the summer signings) as good as if not better than Utd, RVP finds God, publicly
proclaims his love for Arsenal and extends his contract on 30th August leaving Fergie incandescent with rage when he realises he's been stitched up like a kipper

When confronted with accusations of disingenuity in the process, Wenger smiles in a self satisfied way dismissing such nonsense as sour grapes whilst blowing smoke rings into the air from an expensive Cuban cheroot

Fergie is unable given the lack of time to make a signing and is faced with 3 clubs boasting stronger squads

After the season ends and Utd remain trophy less yet again and after going out in the group stages by losing home and away to Celtic, Rooney refuses to commit his future to Utd and agitates for a move to AC Milan

Fergie retires having lost his final battle to Wenger hands down

Tee hee!

Fergie's red nose

The scariest thing about this post is it doesn't even register on your list of stupidest predictions.

I know that Wellbeck and Hernandez will get less gametime if RVP comes, but he was the best striker in the league last season and we can probably get 3 great years from him. Of course we should buy him, if we can get him for a decent price. Arsene seems to the only hinderance. With good reason though, but they'll just lose him on the free.

The funniest thing about this "scenario" is that it reads like Arsenal's last few seasons, with regards to their trophy count and wantaway captains.

Arsene's big coat

:D

Are you really so sure there's no likelihood of it being proved true?

Are you? Well, are you?

:D

Fergie's red nose

You need to remember you're a guest in somebody elses house here Gill.

And change that fecking shite under your location....you soft southern poof! :p

Gillespie, give us another percentage break down of Arsenal's chances in each competition please.

Man Utd on decline?
Let's sign for a club who has just sold it's two best players. Gillespie, you Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

Atleast if you WUM, then do it properly without making yourself look like a retard.

Gotta love the depiction of Arsene as a blasé Sherlockian mastermind, while in reality he's being dragged across the training ground as he clings to Van Persie's ankles.

'Don't leave me Robin.'

That was over a long time ago. Arsenal have fallen way behind since then, its amusing that you are still to come to terms with this.

To be fair it's difficult for him to see what's going on, from a plane window.

Do any signings ever really restrict any other players development? It's an argument you hear a lot on football forums, but if Hernandez and Welbeck are good enough to play for United then they'll take their chances when they get them, and they will get chances. Having competition for places is healthy. If Welbeck and Hernandez want games next season, if we sign Van Persie, then they'll have to up their game. If they don't then they've only themselves to blame.

This line is stunning, coming from an Arsenal fan. Made me chuckle

Exactly how Fergie sees it I reckon.
