Arsenal have turned down a 10million euros (£8million) offer from Juventus for Dutch striker Robin van Persie, according to reports in Italy.

The 28-year-old, who scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Gunners last season, is a target of Juventus, Manchester City and Paris St Germain.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve will have to up their bid to acquire Van Persie after their first offer to secure the Holland international was rejected by the English Premier League club.

Van Persie has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer with his current contract expiring in 12 months' time.

10 million  what the actual feck. I know he has a year to go on his contract, but come on.

They probably thought they could get Van Persie on the cheap because he only had 1 year left. When the reality is Arsenal are so dependent on him, it's almost worth running the contract down as keeping him will guarantee champions league football for them the year after.

Maybe they thought they were bidding for an actual van.

Wenger will wake up with a horses head in this bed tonight.

He's going to City isn't he, Arsenal made a couple of signings and he's still on the outside looking in, looking for the highest offer I guess, Arsenal will be wise to let him go, the club moves on!

Towards the end of the season I thought he would stay, but the longer it goes without him renewing it seems like he's off. That would probably make City favourites given Arsenal have no problem selling to them.

Would he be the 5th or 6th Arsenal player to go to City since the Sheikh turned-up?

Didn't his father recently say something along the lines of 'his loyalty to Arsenal means he wouldn't join another English team'?

Robin van Persie has announced he will not be extending his contract at Arsenal, with a statement on his official website reading: "I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions."

They should try and sell him now then. Get another striker. Tough situation for Arsene.

Cue Merson, Keown & Parlour piping up telling Wenger he should have spent 200k a week on keeping RVP

Gutted for Arsenal fans.

After all, they are a proper club with proper history and a proper manager.

It seems that they want to be financial responsible and are losing out big time because of it.

I hope he goes to City and plays shit and the log-jam of strikers all act like spoilt divas and jump ship to other teams for a fraction of their worth.

feck this.

If he ends up at City, Arsenal have no self-respect at all. They've sold all their best players, with the exception of Cesc, to them.

Had been coming for a while. He was never going to stick by unless there was quality investment in the squad.

Don't worry Arsenal will be the ones laughing in 10, 20, 30, 40 years or when the bubble bursts forcing City & Chelsea into a fire sale.

Not at all, they're simply living in reality. Don't be blinded by the Russki's and Sheiks.

Where's Peterstorey when you need someone to laugh at.

Robin may be careful he doesn't have another of his injury riddled seasons.

If he signs for City at least one of Dzeko/Tevez/Balotelli is a goner.

So.

Where will he go? And might we be interested?

Can City accommodate RvP, Aguero and Balotelli? They'll never dump a 20 y.o. Italian for a 28 y.o. Dutchman. Too much potential.

It's an interesting situation.

So he's effectively pulled a more polite Rooney......randomly thinking he and his agent can dictate who the club should be signing and what not.

They need to be careful and balance the risk of missing out on the Champions League against what they'll make selling him now.
