Finish 19 points behind United...on verge of losing best player, top goalscorer, and captain...

...Claim to have a better squad then United!!

Arsenal fans are fecking retarded :lol:

I have no words

Gillepsie, you haven't won a fecking trophy since 2005 (apart from the famous Emirates Cup). You bottled your last couple of title bids. Clearly Van Persie wants to challenge for trophies, and Man United is far better equiped to challenge for trophies at the moment.

Answer me this hypothetical question

Man Utd offer RVP £200k pw to join them
Arsenal with Usmanov money offers RVP £250k pw
You reckon he would still want to remain at Arsenal?
My arse, he would.

Money probably does play a factor, but it is clearly not the only thing as Van Persie could of got more money some place esle (City)

Arsenal fans are still stuck in the mid 00's, when they're team we're considered a threat. Quite sad really. :smirk:

Using large type doesn't make the point any more convincing. Dropping a place in the league (from a winning position) and getting bummed out of the CL in the group phase needs explaining.

Of course not Gillespie. He wants to win trophies.

You finished 12 points behind us the season before last, then last season it was 19. You're dropping further and further away from the big boys, and you know it. No trophies in 7 years, your continual selling off of your best players, Wenger's refusal to strengthen his defence. That might need explaining...

That's all of historical interest, what matters is where we are and what direction we're going in right now.

Why do people spend time constructing reasonable arguments against Pete when its so obvious he's Wumming.

If it's mere wum, bum and coca-cola it should be easily debunked - but it can't be. There is an inexorable logic that says last season your direction was down (-1) and ours was up (***).

I can take us not qualifying from the CL group, but losing an 8 point lead was unforgiveable.

A lot of people have used the word 'bottle'.

It is was sheer arrogance and unprofessional.

It was sheer injuries. The arrogance side comes from the fans.

Well where we are now is that your on the verge of selling your best player, top goalscorer, and captain....while we're on the verge of buying...your best player, top goalscorer, and captain...;)

Enjoy the season Pete.

arrogance from both imo. That Everton match was the killer.

Anyway...we have an opportunity to set things right on the 20th.

The Everton match was a killer and one match where we sorely missed Vidic more than anything else.

We'll probably miss out on RVP as well and end up with no one.

You may disagree with my view but that doesn't mean I am trying to wind people up.

You can't tell me £200k per week is not a factor in his possible going to Man Utd, yeah, yeah, I want to win trophies, blah, blah, blah......my arse!

Have you finally succumbed to Arsene's 'Trophies don't matter' philosophy. The thing is, they do. Or used to. No, they still do, I'm sure of it.

Then Robin should go to City. Atleast they won a trophy last season.
Even Juventus won a trophy.
Why United?

we had a two goal lead at home mate.

We knew what those 3 pints meant..the title was still in our hands until we lost the lead.

I love United...but not going to excuse us.

ah well..its done.

we also lost a 2 goal lead at home before and it was done through physicality and height on both occasions.

Because he, and every bookie on the planet thinks United have more chance of a trophy. Being obtuse just makes you look stupid. Ye lot are getting as August Noisy as the scousers.

And we are laughed at when we use that.

Difference is without the injuries United would have won the league. Arsenal without the injuries would have still finished in the same position regardless.

I can't see why people wouldn't want it, it would be deadly. Hernandez and Welbeck will still get chances. Top club's can't just rely on one or two to play every game anymore, we know that by now.

I don't think people really have a problem with us potentially signing RvP per se. I think people just wanted a signing in a different position. If you look back pre-Glazer the attitude toward this signing would've been a lot different I think, as we all knew there would be money enough to buy whatever Fergie wanted (not quite I know, but you get the point) whereas we seemingly operate with a much more limited budget these days.

I don't want to turn this thread into a Glazer or central midfield discussion. I'm just saying that's most likely why many people are a bit split on RvP to United - it's certainly why I'm a bit on the fence. No doubt that RvP is a quality player and we'd benefit from having him at the club, but I can't help wondering if the money we might spend on him could/should be spend in a different area.

Why United?

Lots of reasons, I imagine. First of all, his chances of playing at United are most likely bigger than at City. He's probably looking at Nasri going there last year and how much he's played. He might also know that going to City will label him a mercenary or he might just like United better. As for Juventus, he might just want to stay in England. The package (wage, chances of playing, historic club etc.) United are offering might simply be more appealing to him. Who knows really? There's plenty of reasons, but who knows which is the right one(s)?

Like the Lucas situation I'm convinced this is a smokescreen for RVP to join Juventus instead.

Yeah, it's a one Maths for United and one for others.
Good Going.

You don't think that an injury free United squad is superior to an injury free arsenal squad?

Anyway, hoping Sir Alex will bring us some news in the post match conferance!

City have twice more chance of winning any trophy.
you lot are deluded if you think you have more chance of a trophy, compared to Juventus(who just won the league unbeaten) and City.

Context. Goal difference v 19 points, hmmm.

Oh right! Injuries were only an agenda for last season.
There were never any such thing as injuries till United got some.

There was always this 'injuries are part of game', till United got some.

Hypocrites.
