I can't get excited over the prospect of signing a 29-year-old from Arsenal after how far Welbeck came on last season.

And I wouldn't be remotely bothered if he ended up at City. But I suppose if he does spend the season injured or as a flop, we go back to Welbeck anyway and if he does what he did for Arsenal last season, we win the league back. So it's Fergie's transfer budget, not mine.

I've just left work and the presenters of talk sport are talking as if we've signed Van Persie?

To be fair it's the same old Arsenal transfer dealings - signing some decent players but ignoring areas where the team is so clearly deficient. With Van Persie so often holding Arsenal together last season you'd wager they'd be significantly weaker next year, even with Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla, especially with defensive weaknesses left alone.
 
Looks like this one is actually happening, although this time last week I was thinking the same about that Lucas guy and about a few other players over the last few years.

A bit like us with signing wingers and strikers when we are desperate for some quality in midfield.

Hang on, we've failed to secure Lucas...Juventus can't afford Persie, City have enough strikers therefore aren't pushing for his services... so the conclusion is that he's United bound? Nowt like idle spaculation is there? As for MEN, it's not said anything of substance, and TS folk are trying to rake in some viewers. Slow day innit.
