Nah. Apparenly it was just precaution. That being said though it's still a thigh muscle injury. I'd be very surprised if he started against Wigan.

Source?

How much traveling is Hernandez doing?
van Persie should start if he is fit.

Let's wait a few days, drama queens. Even if he is out, we have enough players who can win us the game

I dont' care about the Wigan game. I'm worried about how long term it is. A muscle injury could mean 2-3 weeks out. There's also the possibility of us playing him and aggravating it further.

By the sounds of it he was taken off purely as a precaution. Doesn't sound anything too major, he might miss the Wigan game but hopefully will be fine after

it's incredibile really, 3 games into the season and we've already had several injuries, some while not even playing for United (or their 1st squad). Just blows my mind how come our players have recently started dropping like flies.

Precaution sub means he was okay and he could play full 90 minutes.

He'll rest one day after his international trip and he'll got 2 days for preparations against Wigan.

In my feeling, he'll be ready. He's in Premiership so many years that he get used to this tempo.

Still... decision belongs to SAF.

If he's fit enough for the bench he can start. Bring him off when we're crusing if needed. He can be rested/bench midweek in Fergie's usual CL rotation.

didnt stop fergie from keeping Evans on the bench and starting Carrick at CB vs Fulham.

I'd rather we play it safe and bring him on as a sub if we are desperate. Both Hernandez and Welbeck looked good in their international games so we have options.

Playing football at that level, I'd imagine you get a fair few twinges/ muscles tightening etc, so he may have felt something and they've subbed him to be safe. Might be nothing.

Other than RvP's contributions, Wigan have played significantly better than United so far this season. If we are without RvP they should be favourites.

This is as stupid of a statement as I've ever seen
I mean in what world could wigan ever be considered favorites when playing united at old trafford

It's hard to take the CAF seriously at the moment. I know it's a minority but some of the stuff I have read on here since the start of the season is embarrassing. It's got worse since the Southampton game.

I started posting on the CAFE 06/07 when I was sick of moaning that went on on 606(a shit hole) and the MEN site. You would have thought that side was garbage going on the level of moaning there, all the time. So I started up here and the Mains looked and was good. You got the occasional retarded poster(Kanoute greater than Rooney) and some of the Chief's stuff was insane(left footed pen takers) although always a good poster but the level of posting and debate was good. You always got the sense as well that the majority of the poster generally agreed on what we had even if views are always different on players abilities, the usefulness of squad players, youngsters, other teams, Queiroz, SAF, performances, ownership, etc.

This season I get the feeling that the squad and players are being ludcriously under-rated by a section of posters and snap and reactionary judgments are being made. The level of criticism is well over the top and it's hard not to think some actually want us to fail so they bump a post 6 months down the line and bask in their Internet kudos. Fecking weird.

For me, this is the strongest group of players since 07/08 and 08/09 and that will show itslef throughout the season. United's two greatest seasons of my lifetime started slowlu(treble year and 07/08). I expect United to comfortably beat Wigan at O.T. with or without RVP or Rooney. What's for sure, we are favourites everywhere other than with Ravelston.

Seems like a good opportunity to use the squad. 4-4-2 with Hernandez and Welbeck up front. RVP on the bench - to come on and score when we come up limp.

Dead right.

We have some juveniles posting over here, mate. The CAF is infested with 16-20 year olds. The quality of posts has nose-dived recently. Just a few vintage posters around, whose mature and sensible posts are a breath of fresh air.

I see pessimists are getting their excuses in early.

Without disrespecting the opponents a game at Old Trafford against Wigan should be standard 3 points even with half the team out. If they don't manage a win United should have no excuses.

I agree. But the apologists will undoubtedly be out in force should we drop points. Im fed up of excuses tbh. Irrespective of who is out, our squad is still bigger than Wigan's, and we have a generally far higher standard of player to call upon.

If we drop points at home to Wigan, it will be because we have deserved to.

Any word from the club on either RVP or Kagawa yet? At the moment I'm assuming neither will feature but haven't heard anything from the United camp yet have we?

Go see the Kagawa thread, there is an update there, from a 'source.'

Expect us to line up with something like;

Hernandez
Nani Young Valencia

as our front 4 against Wigan, unless RvP can get fit.
Rooney's inclusion would be a very surprising shock, Kagawa seems to be getting his back assessed, and RvP is probably the most likely to feature/start out of those 3, but I'm not sure he'll be risked to start at least.

Considering that, and the fact De Gea hasn't played in a few weeks, Vidic/Rio are still getting back to pace after a long break from football, Rafael's made a few big errors, Carrick/Cleverley seems off the pace a bit, Welbeck/Hernandez haven't featured up top for any significant amount of time... game on against wigan! Only really Valencia and possibly Evra bar that outjump last match, have played at a good level consistently, and are expected to start.

Very unfortunate that Van Persie is slightly injured. One positive though, Hernandez will get a chance. With Rooney and maybe Van Persie out, Ferguson has to put faith in Hernandez and give him the full 90 min.

I'd be very surprised if Welbeck didn't start. He's played a fair bit this season, just that we've been pushing him out wide rather than in his usual position, in terms of playing time though he's certainly played for a significant amount.

I expect a Welbeck and Hernadez front line, with RVP and possibly Rooney hopefully back for Liverpool.
