I am won over totally. That elusive central midfield signing might have got us out of trouble as well today but he wouldn't have scored a hat trick in his second start. And now we still get to watch Scholes. Today was a good day for Fergie.

I'm amazed a section of our fanbase felt they had to be 'won over' by perhaps the world's deadliest striker(certainly level with Falcao).

We made an unbelievable signing. 22 million or whatever by a striker who guarantees important goals and points is daylight robbery. The negativity, albeit by a minority, actually blows my mind.

He's our best player. He's truly world class in every sense of the word. You could see Southampton collectively shit themselves every time he had the ball at his feet.

His interviews and attitude are class too. Already my favourite United player. Love the lad.

A mercenary who's played for you for 5 minutes? You were more sensible when you were 16.

get a life you absolute nerd. I made a spelling mistake, do you really get off being such a hitler

Hardly a mercenary. He gave his all to Arsenal for years and then moved. It's not as though he went to a crap team for a gazillion pounds to just get a paycheck and has no hope of winning anything...... oh wait....

I'm impressed with the manner he's just gone about delivering the goods from the first minute.

His overall play was much improved today as well as his ruthlesness in front of goal.

It's almost as if getting an established top class player really does make a difference. Ah, must be a fluke. No chance of that happening in CM I'd wager.

Yep that's what you call someone who's been developed by a team and supported through multiple injuries and fecks off for the money after one good season,

Or in the real universe. Stayed with a team season after season and won 0 trophies, stayed even after all his friends and colleagues left and saw them become successful, and then finally left to join most successful league side in England.

He's a cnut (as the Fulham fans pointed out last week) and you'll finish below us this season.

I usually use Fulham fans as my barometer of football opinion truth.

Still, Sol Campbell's still a lovely chap.

fecking Spurs over is allowed. Fulham fans are on the whole a decent indicator of cuntishness.

He played for Arsenal mate. This time last year, we were laughing at him after the penalty miss during the 8-2 game. I can understand certain people finding it hard to relate to him, but feck me... he's so good!

Only an absolute idiot would have any reservations about signing English football's best player.

I know as United fans we're spoilt, but the lack of excitement from some people towards this signing absolutely blew my mind. I just can't get the reasoning. Holding certain players back - not for me: competition for places is always an advantage. Then we get the money could have been spent better in midfield diatribe.

Van Persie guarantees not just goals, but important ones; which translates to points. The man is a match winner and he changes games at important moments. A fact that often goes overlooked.

Well said. He's absolutely class, and keeps producing something special just when the team needs a boost. I'm biased though: I love strikers and my favourite United player is another Dutch striker.

wow, I'm amazed how quickly people change their minds on here.
I bet you the same people who are calling him a legend already and saying he's without a doubt our best player (although to be fair I only saw one person actualy write this) will be the first ones to criticise the shit out of him when he screws something up, mather of fact I bet they were screaming what a retard he was when he screwed up the penalty.

I'll admit, I wasn't too thrilled about signing RvP, however that was only down to the fact that yet again we overlooked our most obvious flaw and spent the cash we don't have on a striker. That was the only reason, I was never "dissapointed" at the simple fact that RvP was ours, that was always a huge plus in my book.
