He should have started, nice to have a cracking left peg and a set-piece threat in the team.

In hindsight probably yeah. That 20 minutes he got, that really going to make a difference to his fitness level? If we started him we could have got an hour out of him then have a fresh Welbeck to come on.

But again hindsight isn't it, he will start against Fulham.

I thought SAF would have gambled on him and used the momentum of the signing and played him from the start, oh well.

What shit debut for him. Coming on when needing the game to change. He had an instant impact though a couple of fantastic flicks. He's going to be sensational when we can get some better stability in midfield and defence.

Barring injury he'll be our main man before very long, especially given the premature autumn of Rooney's United career.

I genuinely didn't understand the role he was playing when he came on. I saw him all over the place and there were times when he was deep behind Rooney when Everton were playing out which I found bizarre. We sign the top scorer from last season and he comes on to take corners for us, really...? I don't know what instructions he got from the bench but in the next game I'd like to see him to be told to stay forward and hang on the shoulder. That's where Wenger discovered his strengths as a player and that's where we badly need him to operate right now cos our attack looks toothless.

he normally takes corners and set pieces.

20 minutes of preseason, about 8 years of being crocked and he still looked fitter than Rooney and Anderson.

Van Persil has a shaped jawline, he's got like no bodyfat where as Rooney looks like he boil washes all his clothes in Daz.

All hindsight, but should he have started?

I think he should have at least came on earlier than he did.

Nah not for me. Give him an easy start to his United career not in at the deep end. Right decision by SAF, few minutes at the end to ease him in then give him Old Trafford for the next one. Besides, bringing him on just when we conceded a goal from afro boy already look at bit desperate so starting him would have been even more so. We have enough quality players to score goals IMO to allow him a softer start. Although that said, I do think Rooney should not start the next Goodison Park game, its like his curse.

Agreed. Rooney just doesn't do well against Everton (especially at Goodison).

He'll end up being loaned to them if this keeps up.

I don't think he would have changed anything when he came on, when all everton was doing was trying to bypass the midfield. We had no urgency and worked it out wide too quickly and just tried and put a cross in all game long and we couldn't get a decent delivery from any of our wingers.

He barely had the ball but he did play in Kagawa once and we almost scored from that. I can't wait to see him link up with Kagawa. That could be one really productive partnership!

I thought there was times when he could have been given the ball on the edge on the box more often late on but nobody seemed to try pick em out.

Looked lively enough though cant wait for his home debut.

I hope it's not a bad omen , but had to tape the game today and the tape ran out in 67 minute just as RVP was coming on the pitch.

He made so many runs that went completely ignored.

One in particular that I remember where Rooney should have threaded a relatively simple pass through to him at the edge of the box but was too slow leaving Van Persie offside. Game time will hopefully improve their understanding though and I wouldn't read too much into his effectiveness last night.

..that is basically what Fergie was saying......we didn't use him enough. To be fair it has to take time for people to get used to him. I'm sure this will come good once the understanding gels...

...however I suppose we don't have a lot of time with regards to the season already starting. RVP is obviously an immediate impact signing....so lets hope it starts next saturday..

Interesting to see that he takes in swinging corners. Obviously, the set-pieces shitness is contagious at OT so his corners didn't beat the first man.

Aye he used to take them for Arsenal didn't he.

I don't recall him having particularly good corners with us either. He usually whips them in with a fair bit of pace but nothing special. Doesn't Ashley Young take good corners?

Has this nonsense been posted yet?

Q. How will Robin van Persie perform in his first season at Manchester United ?

This season, for RVP, may not turn out exactly as he hopes and expects it to. Even though he will receive full support from his new manager and he, himself, also feels that the move to Manchester United is the culmination of his footballing journey, he'll face a few difficulties adjusting to the culture at his new club. He also may have to face some ego issues that may be difficult to deal with.

The start of the season could be somewhat of a disappointment for him as he might fall short of expectations. The flamboyance, which his new club expects from his game, may not be visible. Mentaly, however, he feels that he's the "Emperor" and he has everything under control.

By the end of the current season, there's a possibility of Robin being involved in some kind of conflict and he could end up feeling a bit let down by his new club. He quickly needs to get used to Manchester United's way of functioning and give it his best shot.

Have a feeling he will start a new era tomorrow
I think he will have a storming match!

You don't need tarot cards, tea leaves or haruspication to predict he'll be crocked by November.

Nothing too wrong with that prediction thing. We'll see at the end of the season though here's hoping it's extremely inaccurate for our sake!
