Anyone would be unhappy if they were playing in this team but yes, criticise behind closed doors.

Anyone thinking about letting him leave should stop thinking that.

Bit of a nothing article but there you go:

Robin van Persie to consider his Manchester United future in summer
• Sir Alex Ferguson key factor in luring Dutchman from Arsenal
• Van Persie upset after Champions League defeat in Athens

Robin van Persie will consider his future at Manchester United in the summer, with the Dutchman uncertain about continuing at the club.

Following United's 2-0 defeat at Olympiakos on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, Van Persie signalled his disquiet at his team-mates. He said: "Our fellow players are sometimes occupying the spaces I want to play in. And when I see that it makes it difficult for me to come to those spaces as well. So that forces me to adjust my runs, based on the position of my fellow players. And unfortunately, they're often playing in my zones. I think that's a shame."

While he was careful to defend the manager, David Moyes, it is understood that Van Persie was particularly disappointed when Sir Alex Ferguson, Moyes's predecessor, retired at the end of last season. Ferguson was a key factor in Van Persie agreeing to sign for United from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, even though Manchester City had offered him a higher salary.

As in his final season at the Emirates, Van Persie had a virtually injury-free campaign last year, with his goals crucial to Ferguson claiming a 20th title for United. This season, though, Van Persie has been blighted by injuries and with the summer's World Cup in Brazil potentially the 30-year-old's last one, he is keen to be in prime condition for the tournament.

Van Persie, who cost £24m, will have two years left on his contract at the end of this season.

If he leaves, it's probably the only way Kagawa stays. In the long term, I'm not sure we wouldn't be better off that way.

Fantastic last season but doesn't look arsed this. If we got 15m for him in the summer I would be tempted to take it. Our system is screwed atm and I think Mata behind Rooney with Welbeck and Hernandez backup would fix a lot of problems. Would trade in Kagawa if it finally meant a general in midfield.

His goals per game ratio is actually better this season.

I'd rather we lose the manager before he drives out any more of our talented players.

Goals per game means feck all when we are losing. It clearly is mostly not his fault but we need to take one of rooney and rvp out imo and noone is undroppable. On form I would drop him for a game or two to kick his arse a bit. Problem is I doubt our manager has enough respect from the players to carry it off.

I think we would. For starters, it'll mean we'd actually play with a proper no.10 and Rooney will get to play in his preferred position - a striker.

What a fecking crap comment that is as well 'other players play where I want to be'

What a dick.

Hopefully we will see more stories like this from other players, it's about the only way we will get rid of Moyes.

If only some people could read it would be excellent.

He's the best player in our squad. We should be building our team around him to get the best out of him. Some people have very short memories-it was only because of RvP we walked the title last season.

Instead, we got Moyes bending over backwards to make Rooney happy. It's a disgrace. RvP is our best striker, our best player and the only player in our team who is world class (with Mata close behind).

Just for those who've missed it, the Dutch-speaking United fans have all pretty much said his words were twisted to fit a sensationalist narrative (shocker).

The interview has been completely exaggerated and quotes are taken out of context. It was a balanced and honest interview. I'm sure if you want to overanalyze his answers you can come up with anything but considering the circumstances, I'd say the interview was in pretty good spirits.

Nah. That question was not asked to v Persie on the nos interview and they took one of his quotes (which he actually used to defend moyes) as an answer to said question that was never asked to insinuate trouble.

The worst thing he said was he'd like to see the ball more but the way we're set up is preventing him from doing so, essentially. How dare he feel frustrated at touching the ball just 24 times yesterday - less than every single player on pitch, goalkeepers included. It was the same against Arsenal. Against Palace only Damien Delaney touched the ball fewer times. How dare he suggest that we're setup in a way which is preventing our best players from flourishing.

Exactly. We are looking to shed anything that doesn't please Moyes.

I don't speak Dutch but I don't need to in order to detect dodgy journalism. But this isn't the first story about Van Persie allegedly having a go a Moyes. Why pick on him?

Rooney is world class, to be fair. RVP is still playing as a striker, you'd swear he was being played at CB the way people are going on. He needs to get his act together like everyone else and get on with it.

Awww diddums.

My heart bleeds for the lad.

This is the move he wanted, so I suggest he suck it up and deal with it.

(Note I don't think those quotes are true but IF he is frustrated, he should just keep his head down and continue to perform on the pitch)

Moyes is asking for trouble having that sign on top of his car.

Well it only started after Sir Alex's autobiography was released and in that he mentioned how he told van Persie (and Kagawa) he would be here for a while yet. There's also of course the fact that he's one of our two star players and star players make for better headlines. Rooney started the season as one of the best players in the league with the media lavishing praise on him and more recently he's signed a long-term contract so he doesn't fit the profile needed. On top of that he obviously is frustrated with how things are going but why wouldn't he be? We're playing terrible football, we're not winning games and he's seeing less of the ball than at any point in his career. For a player who can see the end of his career in the not too distant future he'd have to be a pretty wired up man to not feel frustrated by that.

In the first leg v Madrid last year he touched the ball 46 times - almost double the amount of times he touched the ball yesterday. In fact he's only touched the ball more than 45 times just once all season. In the game against Fulham when we had 75% possession he touched the ball just 35 times. He was the best player in a team that won the title comfortably last season and he's blatantly being misused so I don't see why venting frustration at that should cause any kind of uproar.

And now saying we're playing lousy and are struggling in the two remaining competitions is somehow newsworthy. Christ on a bike. When we're winning and everything's rosy he gets lavished with praise for actually putting some thought into what he says and speaking frankly to the media, but when everything's not so great and he does the same he gets torn apart. Strange stuff. Everyone's gotta have a scapegoat I guess.

He should talk lesser and learn how to finish the sitters he misses in every single match these days.

He's our best player by a mile. He can talk as much as he wants. If anybody should talk less it's that pig Rooney. We need to sell the pig and play Mata in behind him. He's holding as back from playing to our true strengths.

If it's a battle between RvP and Moyes and somehow RvP wins it, I think he can become a legend here.

It isn't the move he wanted. He wanted Ferguson. He has Moyes.

Did he think Ferguson would go on forever and a day?

The man had to call it quits at some point.

Van Persie is the one who decided to move to Man Utd and now that things aren't how he thought they would be he's "unhappy"?

Please.

He's made his bed and now he can lie in it

I can see both of them losing the battle, with Moyes forcing Van Persie out and completely losing the fans in the process and then getting sacked.

I see this story is getting more spectacular by the minute. Next they're going to quote Van Persie declaring war on Moyes.
